Black Mountain
M. Ward

Zappa 05-16-2005 04:54 PM

M. Sord is so much cooler than M. Ward. Even though I've never heard M. Ward, and M. Sord is just some crazy drummer from Kalamazoo that has come up here to play a couple times.

Strung Out - An American Paradox
Against Me! - Reinventing Axl Rose
They are of course not new by the way

I've been checking out The Flaming Lips lately.

That's the first list of bands you've ever posted in which I know every single band. >_<

Happymeal 05-16-2005 07:43 PM

Hehe:) I'm sorta on a pop-punk binge right now.

Zappa 05-16-2005 07:58 PM

Bleu cheese.

Daggage as Follows:
Matching Mole - Self Titled
Blur - Parklife
Black Eyes - Cough
The Pop Group - Self Titled

Well_Respected_Man 05-16-2005 08:34 PM

I dig them, they're a Post Punk band with a Dub producer and influences. "They lose rythmn just as easily as they find it." - thanks allmusic.

Little Man being Erased 05-16-2005 09:25 PM

Still the same stuff:

Ryan Adams - Cold Roses
David Bowie - Low
Pinback - Summer In Abaddon
The Faint - Wet From Birth

asymm 05-17-2005 09:57 AM

Purchases/Diggage:

Gang of Four - Entertainment! {reissue}
Lou Reed - Rock 'N' Roll Animal LP
Philip Glass - Music With Changing Parts

Tomahawk 05-17-2005 11:30 AM

I picked up the Nick Cave b-sides & rarities set today, it's a bit of a mixed bag quality-wise, but there's like 50 songs so I kind of expected that. Still really high quality as far as b-sides albums go. I really dig his cover of Rainy Night in Soho, and the alternate version of O'Malleys Bar is awesome, even more disturbing and funny than the Murder Ballads version.

Luxor 05-17-2005 01:21 PM

I'm listening to Either/Or right now. I'd say it' his best, I think the only other person who would agree with me on that is Bread, though.

Iai 05-17-2005 02:22 PM

I'd probably agree with that.

Zappa 05-17-2005 02:33 PM

I love Either/Or, and have been listening to it quite a bit lately.

Iai 05-17-2005 02:35 PM

My diggage for today -

Basement Jaxx - Singles
The Replacements - Let It Be

You ever listened to Basement Jaxx, Zap?

pixiesfanyo 05-17-2005 02:46 PM

Tapey and I are Roman Candle fans.

But he likes Figure 8 alot as well.

Zappa 05-17-2005 02:51 PM

Nope.

Today I listened to Drive Like Jehu all morning, and some Mysterious Voices of Bulgaria. I also got one Don Caballero song this morning, but I didn't much enjoy it. Too choppy and spastic in the time changes, which is something I tend to really hate. It sounded like toned-down Hella, which is still too wild for me. I need to hear an entire record, though.

talk show host 05-17-2005 03:00 PM

I've been listening to the Dismemberment Plan yet again.

I can't cut my addiction with Emergency & I. It's good study music too.

Luxor 05-17-2005 04:46 PM

^ I'm listening to it right now as well.

I still need to get my hands on a copy of Roman Candle.

pixiesfanyo 05-17-2005 04:46 PM

Jaga Jazzist.
Mahavishnu Orchestra.

Jebediah 05-17-2005 04:49 PM

I am currently listening to Nick Drake's Pink Moon for the first time. I am only on the second song, though, so I haven't formulated an opinion yet.

Little Man being Erased 05-17-2005 04:57 PM

This morning NIN and Black Mountain have been dug by me.

Iai 05-17-2005 05:02 PM

A hole.

Little Man being Erased 05-17-2005 05:16 PM
A hole.
Wha wha wha?

I guess I'll form one for you, then. It's great.

Iai 05-17-2005 05:35 PM

It's funny because we were all thinking it.

Zappa 05-17-2005 05:36 PM

I'm listening to DJ Q-Bert again. Wave Twisters is tasty.

Jebediah 05-17-2005 06:02 PM
I guess I'll form one for you, then. It's great.
I agree. How does it compare to Five Leaves Left?

Zappa 05-17-2005 06:13 PM

Five Leaves Left and Bryter Layter are a lot different. I actually don't like the latter all that much. Both have much more involved arrangements, FLL featuring lots of strings and BL featuring more winds and things. Neither has that beautifully simplistic sound of Pink Moon, which feels like a man and his guitar.
