Whoa. This place is dead.

I saw that Pink Floyd tribute band. They were pretty sweet. Good at their instruments, and had all the songs' details. I quite enjoyed it :thumb:

EDIT: To RNR. You serious?
Cool, are they a well known tribute band?

Badmoon 09-04-2004 08:09 PM

Did you toke up before :p?

Whatever 09-04-2004 08:10 PM

i have echoes. (i did'n't pay for it, though) it surprisingly good. all the songs flow well and the booklet is amazing. i also have DSOTM, Animals, WYWH, The Wall, Relics, Meddle, and PATGOD, so i know what i'm talking about.

Whats the big deal with "A day in the life" by the Beatles? I've heard it's considered one of the best rock songs of all time, but I wouldn't even consider it the best beatles song.

I saw that Pink Floyd tribute band as well.

RockAndRoll 09-04-2004 08:45 PM

same day?

themightyquinn23 09-04-2004 08:46 PM

Nope. I saw them sometime in the Spring, can't remember which month, maybe April? It was in Akron. Unless he went down to Akron.......

I've never even heard of Akron, have no idea where it is.

themightyquinn23 09-04-2004 08:54 PM

Akron, Ohio. Not a very big city, so if you live across the ocean you've probably never heard of it.

I live north of the border.

I was at lunch the other day in school, and this kid I sit with wanted me to listen to one of him Cd's he brought in. It was from some new band that I forget the name of. Anyway, the riff sounded way too familiar to be made p by that band. It was killing me for 2 days, then a light bulb went on and I realized that it was the riff to Substitute by The Who. I was uber pissed.

Because it's beautiful, quirky, happy, sad, has John singing, has Paul singing, ect...

I may go to Chicago Jazz Fest tommorow :D

VoodooChild 09-04-2004 09:24 PM

But I'm a substitute for another guy
I look pretty tall but my heels are high
The simple things you see are all complicated
I look pretty young, but I'm just back-dated, yeah

Pretty cool song considering I'm not a fan of The Who

Spectrum 09-04-2004 09:26 PM

^(badmoon)It also has, I believe, the longest held chord on record - that last, rollicking E chord to end the song. How long is that, like 16-30 seconds?

^(still badmoon)I wish I could be going to the Chicago Jazz Fest tomorrow. How'd you manage that as a possibility?

^(actual above poster) The Who is, in my opinion, a great band. Good song, by the way.

(to no one)Does "Rush" count as classic Rock, perchance? Because I'm wondering how in God's name he sings like that. I heard "Closer to the Heart" on the Radio the other day and had to tell myself that was a guy. (Note: another guy who sounds like that is the guy from "Coheed and Cambria", but they are not Classic Rock. No C&C discussion.)

Lucky, I heard they're gonna be covering a whole bunch of compositions by Thelonious Monk one of the nights. Not sure if that's tomorow or when. HAve a good time if you go.

I live in Chicago ;)

Badmoon 09-04-2004 09:38 PM

Medeski, Martin & Wood were supposed to be there, but they canceled :(

themightyquinn23 09-04-2004 09:54 PM

Sigh......There are no jazz bands or jazz festivals in Cleveland. I'm stuck with good old rock and roll(Not that it's really a bad thing really, RnR Hall of Fame!!)

BillCosby 09-04-2004 09:57 PM

Goddamn, I love self-indulgent, 15+ minute songs. Something about 'em, I dunno. :)

Now playing:

"Celebration of the Lizard" by the Doors.

themightyquinn23 09-04-2004 10:11 PM

^^16 posts away from 6000.

I like my jazz song 6 or 7 minutes long. Over 15 minutes is just excessive.
^Make the next spin off username DavidCrosby ;)
I hope I don't have to. :(

One perm ban is enough, tanks

I didn't say anything bout self-indulgent jazz, hun.

That song I posted earlier is over 17 minutes, but the length is really the only reason I called it self-indulgent. But yeah, most people probably don't share my view.

Badmoon 09-04-2004 10:18 PM

Why were you permd?

BillCosby 09-04-2004 10:21 PM
Why were you permd?
I made a joke "free ipod" thread. It was obviously not serious, but I guess a mod felt a spam thread was enough for a perm ban. Meh, no biggie though, it's just internet.

Badmoon 09-04-2004 10:26 PM

That's stupid

I'm sure you'll be unpermed eventually, making this system completely hypocritical, but it wouldn't be the first time.

RockAndRoll 09-04-2004 11:02 PM

say badmoon did you ever finish that bio? (I think it was garcia but i'm too lazy to go back through all the pages and check)

Badmoon 09-04-2004 11:05 PM

Yeah, want a small review?
