And yes, destroyer 666 are excellent. Cold Steel... has the most excellent atmosphere on it, while the music is definitely above average. Check out Pheonix rising and Unchain the wolves. Neither album is as thrashy (death and black respectively), but both are excellent in their own right.

JMet, I'm glad you still have the grasp of Thrash>everyting else.
Just bought Shadows Fall - The War Within and borrowed Mastodon - Leviathan.

Firstly Shadows Fall = Not great but not terrible some tracks were alright but not quite brillaint, i belive this band has potential to make it big in a few years time

Secondly Mastodon = This album is great not your ordinary album its my first listen so far and im getting quite into it.
Mastodon have a new album? Sweet.
Why aint Slayer opening? They have more and better CDs out, a wider fan base, and have more talent and skill, and are experienced. All Slipknot has is a bunch of stupid masks.Slipknot should bow down to Slayer while being beaten to death with a warlock guitar.
Slayer would be outnumbered, I'm afraid. :upset:

They're a bunch of skinny kids.

Kerry King would sit on them.

Shred Danson 10-12-2004 09:12 AM
The reason mallcore kiddies like slayer is becuase it's a hell of a lot heavier than anything along the likes of Sh.itknot or Disturbed. So they think "Wow, this is heavy, I better listen to it so I can continue pretending to be metal!"
God I hate that word..."mallcore".

Yeh Mastodon's new album is called Leviathan and i really like it :thumb: reccomended.

LordDargon 10-12-2004 09:19 AM

Mallcore is quite possibly the greatest word ever invented.

:upset:

DimebagDarrell 10-12-2004 09:38 AM

Mastodon are mallcore if thats what your implying.

shortass 10-12-2004 10:08 AM

Dude I'm in!!! :thumb:

LordDargon 10-12-2004 10:11 AM

Mastodon are a long ways from mallcore, at least in Remission days. The next person who calls Mastodon mallcore is getting an e-dropkick. It's stupid.
Dude I'm in!!!
Go away.

have fun w/ the 3000 thing! sounds hard, but then, i don't really reply to stuff much. also, this post is completely useless.

little_devil2021 10-12-2004 10:47 AM

ok, wat do you guys think is the best slayer album? i'm kinda new to thrash, and i need some stuff other than old metallica and megadeth. also, album suggestions for kreator would be appreciated.

LordDargon 10-12-2004 10:56 AM

Slayer: Show No Mercy, Haunting the Chapel, Hell Awaits, and Reign In Blood.

Kreator: Coma Of Souls, Extreme Aggression and Pleasure to Kill.

I don't remember you joining.
Mallcore is quite possibly the greatest word ever invented.

Dude, I just think mallcore is something that people who are really into metal come up with to slam good popular bands and people who like those bands to make them feel more badass than other people. No offense, or anything, because I know you are truly into metal, but it's just something that I can't stand. It's like those punk rockers bitching about Good Charlotte, Simple Plan, etc...(only those bands truly do suck).

I just hate it when I see someone slamming a band I like, like Shadows Fall, or even Soilwork, as "mallcore". Metal doesn't always have to be about one type of metal, Mastodon is as much of a metal band as Exodus. There's no need to slam good bands just because they're the hit band right now, or you saw them on MTV and got pissed off. If my band were suddenly to hit big, I sure as hell wouldn't want my band to get a bad reaction just because we're gaining new fans after our new album.

That's all. You've heard my rant. Sorry to make this about Shadows Fall and Mastodon and Soilwork.

(33rd official post of the week out of an attempted 3000)

LordDargon 10-12-2004 01:15 PM

I don't think any of the bands you mentioned are mallcore. Mallcore is total bullsh.it, like Korn, Linkin Park, Trapt, stuff with no redeeming musical value whatsoever.

It's a valid term, if you use it correctly.

sensitiveorgan00 10-12-2004 01:18 PM

Soilwork can be considered mallcore, at least their new stuff. Either way, Soilwork and Shadows Fall both blow my as.shole.

LordDargon 10-12-2004 01:20 PM

I hadn't heard Soilwork.

Shadows Fall = Thrash + Crap

Mastodon = (Go look at my new post in The Mastodon Thread for my opinion)

alright, thanks. and yeah, i joined about 1 month ago, i guess, but i don't usually hav much to say b/c i'm so new to thrash.

Shady Ultima 10-12-2004 06:10 PM

Try getting Seasons in The Abyss by Slayer too, it's my personal fave.

RavenousMetalist87 10-12-2004 06:48 PM

Shady has a good recommendation there. I have listened to mine quite a bit, very nicely composed stuff on it.

*bump*

sensitiveorgan00 10-12-2004 06:49 PM

Except Hell Awaits owns it hard.
