I like fast music.

I stand corrected.

The VU are meh for me. If I'm in the mood, they're great. Otherwise, they're really take it or leave it.

Leper 11-13-2005 01:00 AM

'Twas an awesome day for me, as I got a new cellphone, and found Yes- Close to the Edge and The Doors- Strange Days for $8 each.

JonG 11-13-2005 01:02 AM

Nice, Strange Days is awesome.

Ya, it's a great album. I also found Waiting for the Sun but I already have it on vinyl. I can't wait to listen to Close to the Edge though.

maybe you like fast music and just not fast playing? im not understanding. coltrane is one of the greatest musicians ever. if you pay attention, the chord changes and shifts under his "endless arpeggios" are quite complex.

what fast music do you like?

Broken Arrow 11-13-2005 10:21 AM

Hmmm, I seemed to like Giant Steps better than A Love Supreme. I also liked Mingus Ah Um better.

I don't care how complex it is, I just don't like Coltrane too much.

I can't think of any off the bat, but I do like fast music.

robo2448 11-13-2005 12:54 PM

Scyma thanks for the Miles Smiles. I'm gonna listen to it soon.

Hey Joe is just such an awesome song. Definitely one of my 5 favorite Hendrix songs.

/bump

Bus 11-13-2005 12:57 PM

I'm also listening to the Miles Smiles right now. It's pretty awesome.

I got banned for clicking a hack link

thickasabrick 11-13-2005 01:31 PM

Did I tell you guys about when I bought The Times They Are A-Changin' on vinyl? I was really happy about finding one with the cover in such good condition, because right now I only have the CD and I wanted a vinyl one to listen to....well anyways, I bring it up there and the guy points out the fact that it's sealed. So I had to make the choice of leaving it sealed and not getting to listen to it, or opening it and enjoying it to its full potential. I opened it. It was a glorious moment.

jpj 11-13-2005 01:34 PM

That was a silly thing to do.

robo2448 11-13-2005 01:36 PM

^ good choice. My uncle has an original copy of The Times They Are A-Changin'. He has a lot of cool albums, but he's pretty much a jackass so I never talk to him about music or about anything at all really.

All Things Must Pass is one of the most amazing albums ever. Definitely one of the most beautiful albums I've ever heard. The anniversary of George's death is coming up in a couple weeks :( . I'm going to do a write-up on him on the anniversary.

np- I Live For You

Broken Arrow 11-13-2005 01:37 PM

haha, that sounds awesome.

I usually keep my viynl downstairs but I have three on display in my room for some reason.

They are:
Aoxomoxoa
After the Goldrush
Obscured By Clouds

Downstairs I have my Quicksilver Messenger Service collection on display. (only 3 albums) :(

thickasabrick 11-13-2005 01:39 PM

I keep The Doors s/t and The Times They Are A-Changin' seperate, because they are both in such absolutely perfect condition that I don't want them associating with all those other scraggly albums.

Broken Arrow 11-13-2005 02:14 PM

PinkFreud 11-13-2005 02:17 PM

iajp's making the first of his vs. threads. its jeff beck (me) against the smiths (him). you should all look at it and commend me on my writing prowess and then vote for jeff beck.

i have no idea how those two got matched together.

Broken Arrow 11-13-2005 02:21 PM

Hmm, I guess I'll have to go Jeff Beck even though I'm not a fan of either, i'll admit hes a good guitar player.

Jacaranda 11-13-2005 02:24 PM

Your supposed to vote based on the articles. :S

I'm paired up against Shadows Fall, a metal band, I think.

Broken Arrow 11-13-2005 02:26 PM

Yeah I know. I'm not voting at all.

EDIT-who are you writing for?

Jacaranda 11-13-2005 02:29 PM

Jane's Addiction, I have little or no hope of getting votes no one likes them in R&M. I should've went with the Stones.

Broken Arrow 11-13-2005 02:37 PM

I just read Freud's write up. Nice job man.
