Plus we could steal frozen oil chunks from the middle east and use it in our frozen cars |
Plus we could steal frozen oil chunks from the middle east and use it in our frozen cars
I figure I will be dead by the time humans destroy the earth, so I don't care about global warming.
I give it another 300 years. |
I don't think I'd give it any more than 100, really. At the rate it's going, unless things start changing (which I strongly doubt they will), there's going to definately be a drop in overall life on earth in 100, at which point there will be no turning back.
Oh, how wonderful it is to talk about things like this. PT update: it was 3/4 done, and i went to minimize it, but i x'd it. :( I have to upload it again. |

We've already hit the point of no turning back. I believe the world is already doomed, so we might as well live life as we're here.
|
I dont drive me. So im not adding that crap to it.
I just walk, cycle or use public transport. |
If we stopped all fossil emissions today, the world would keep heating up for another 200 years.
|
As do I. Right now I just walk, since there's no busses in this small town. But when I do move out, it'll be all busses/lrt.
I still think there's a chance to turn things around, but it'll take d'amn near everyone to stop basing their lives around money, which seems very out of hand. Sadly our culture destroys everything for a profit, and money really does run the world. |
I dont care about money me, i want enough to live comfortably, thats it
|
I care about money to the point where I want a roof and food.
All my friends are working jobs they hate just for an extra couple dollars an hour, so they can spend that money on video games and movies. I'd rather do something I enjoy for a little less and actually pay attention to what I spend money on. |
humans are ingenious creatures............we will run out of oil way before the ice melts enough to become a major problem. There will be a major power shuffle as the world structure collapses and reforms to adapt.
doomsday sayers piss me off - even if there is no oil people will still be able to get things done with hard work and effort. The key point is to take the lesson of running out of oil to use a better energy source. |
It's impossible to stop the religious/political conflicts we have today, there will be fundamentalists forever.
There are nuclear weapons everywhere. It's only a matter of time before something opens the glass case and presses the red button. Global warming is inevitable and will definitely screw humanity over. The west uses way too many resources. Half of \the world's population makes 3$ a day, and 30% of the world uses 75% of the resources. There's no way to change people's lifestyles. Because of the "drop in the bucket theory" ("there's no point in me recycling, i'm just a miniscule part of the whole population. other people will do it), they wont change. There is mass overpopulation, disease, extinction, just so many problems with the environment. Right now we are probably living at the best that humanity may ever live. Technology will help in the short run, but unless we have an Einstein who can cure everything, humanity will definitely on the decline forever. |
Thus the power reshuffle as those who cant and wont adapt will die out and fade into the abyss. I dont think decline is a fair word..........rather , a more sensible population of people on the planet - one that is more in line with natural struggles of the species we lived as simpletons in the past and we can always revert back to it nuclear weapons arent really a threat as I would estimate that what is more likely to happen in nations is mass civil wars and anarchy rather than nations fighting each other |
Thus the power reshuffle as those who cant and wont adapt will die out and fade into the abyss.
This isn't natural selection. There is healtcare, Red cross, hospitals, etc. It's not like the people who don't adapt will die.
we lived as simpletons in the past and we can always revert back to it
I doubt it. People are way too materialistic to let everything go. I agree many people will realize the situation and try to change. But a huge number will just not care about it.
nuclear weapons arent really a threat as I would estimate that what is more likely to happen in nations is mass civil wars and anarchy rather than nations fighting each other
When one nuclear weapon is fired at another nation, all of the nations will want to get in on it the nuclear war. North Korea isn't going to launch it on themselves. It's just a matter of time. |
does anyone know if the the Schalloch Djembes any good? Im thinkin of gettin a djembe pretty soon, and I wanna know if anyone has any experience with them
|
I don't think North Korea is a threat at all, really. Everybody knows the "threat" of nuclear weapons, and I think they just wanted to get a more important seat in the world. Without nuclear weapons, they're a target that the US can take out any time it wants, but nowadays, they're relatively safe. Now they actually get a little suggestion as to how the world is run, instead of the US controlling everything.
The day North Korea fires nukes at us for no reason, I will gladly apologize. But until then, we see them as a "threat" the same way that a dictator sees a rebel as a threat. They are installing the idea that the US might not be able to keep control of every country in the world forever, and that scares people. Therefore, other coutries gaining power = "threat" |
I know what you're saying. My point is that there is a nuclear weapon there, with the potential the start a new war. They're not going to disarm it anytime soon. If anything major happened, it's possible it would be utilized.

I wish I ran a country..

i'd support korea
i like my azn chicks :) |
