'tis good, the funniest part is of the 20th Century Box with all the old Maidenites and the Cardboard guitars
I know, how pathetic is that, for todays standars i mean. I was thinking how cool it would be if two or more threads could go to war with each other over their musical differences.Someone should set it up. MAIDEN all the way. :thumb: |
The twin lead guitars was mainly to harmonise with each other, it's not really noticeable on Number of the Beast album (I can't think of a song that does use both leads). A good song that uses the twin lead guitar extremely well is; Infinite Dreams, the riff before and after the solo and with Steves bass all the way up to 11...*drools*
Thanks for answering questions ashman and sack-man. But ashman I was watching the number of the beast video clip cause my CD is one of those enhanced CD thingo and noticed there was 2 solos one for each guitarist is that what you mean by twin lead? |

Yeah that too :thumb: |
Hey, I'm pretty sure the names are right. Anyone noticed that the bridges before and after the solo in Infinite Dreams is similar to the ones in Montsegur? It's a kickarse riff.
|
hey any one hear bout manson and maiden teaming up ashman love the avatar lol
|
Hey does anyone know who does the riffs? or is it done in unison? Oh btw ashman and sack-man id rep you for helping a Maiden n00b but the rep system doesnt seem to be working.
|
Steve and the boys all have equal say in riffs, I think. Though Steve and Dave are the main ideas men. And Bruce writes a lot of the lyrics.
|
^ Thanks but what I meant was do they both play them at the same time or do they take turns or is one a designated rythym guitarist?
|
Oh, ok. I thought you meant writing riffs. :)
Well, there is no one lead, or rhythm guitarist. In the coverslips, on stage, and in the music itself, the boys (Adrian, Dave and Janick) are always all described as Lead Guitar. You can hear in some of the BNW and DOD songs that the lead changes several times, as they switch from melody to solo. |

I thought Bruce and Steve wrote most of the lyrics... Adrian is fairly prolific too...he wrote some of the best stuff (Passchendale and The Wicker Man are both music by Adrian Smith, Words by Bruce Dickenson) Also, no there is no set lead guitarist and no set rhythm guitarists. They're all pretty similar in their rhythm playing, but you can tell apart their leads quite easily: Jannick: Off the wall, crazy solos with lots of bends Dave: Jazz influenced, very fast improvised solos Adrian: Rhythmic, pre-written solos. He doesn't improvise much. |
no more stars....
I just got mine!!!! they set me apart from the commoners no rep either bollocks!!!!! I notice riva kept his what's going on there? |

One thing I have noticed is that Dave was the 'main' lead guy back in the day and then when Janick joined they kinda shared it 50 50... |

I wonder if they argue about who plays what parts :smash: |

LOL yeah. 'I want to do that solo...' But now they have 3 Guitars, they can share each solo, like the Trooper and Futureal... :thumb: |
"oh piss off janick you get to do all the fancy ones" lol
|
Bruce About Dave Writing: "its like having a woman having birth to an elephant, its 'kin hard to get him to do it, but when it happens, its 'kin huge!"
to me it always seemed like Steve, Bruce and Adrian is the Main Songwriters... |

Blood Brothers @ Rio is probably one of the best performances I've seen. By any band.

i cant help it... Janick's solo moves me everytime.... |
Something I noticed is that Steve is the only one using a wireless setup, Dave/Janick/Adrian all are corded. Any specific reason why, doesn't anybody know?
|
Best Rock in Rio song = The Clansmen IMO. I've never even heard the album version, so its totally fresh for me.
