I honestly cannot stand them. B.Y.O.B. is one of the dumbest, crappiest songs I've ever heard. But I'll give them props, a few songs off Toxicity were listenable. New stuff though, makes me wanna puke.
You know what, I've never really criticized that song. It doesn't really flow as well as I thought it could've, and the lyrics are very mainstream for the "we hate the government" generation. And it probably shouldn't be as long as it is

But still, the music is decent. You have to give them that. That riff in the chorus, it's just so memorable. I humm is all the time when we are with friends, and one of them just starts singing "Everybody's going to the party, have a real good time".

It might not be a great SOAD song, but it's one of the catchiest songs I've heard in a long time. Whether it's pop or pop-punk or rock, nothing even compares with this in terms of how it gets stuck in my head

Kif 05-20-2005 03:19 PM
Toxicity was great all the way through, I could listen to it in one straight go.
But Steal This Album had only around 2 good songs, the rest were  so I hope this album isnt the same
Steal This Album was just b-sides and rare songs I think

Well, I'm not saying they're a bad band. Some of their music is cool, but alot of the time, it's their lyrics and vocals that drive me away from them. Something about it just irritates me to no end. Also, it just seems like everyone likes them. I've never seen anyone else in here say they disliked them, so I just figured I'd say something.

Untitled 05-20-2005 03:25 PM

I dont like BYOB, or Boulovard of broken dreams, as i like to call it (byob n bobd look simaler) I like a few SOAD songs, toxicity, chop suey, the usual ones.

cbmartinez 05-20-2005 03:28 PM

Circa Survive sucks. SOAD is amazing.

I know what you mean, Serj's singing pisses me off a lot sometimes as well. It just seems so goofy and like he's just messing around. But their backing vocals, he can sing well.

Also, the lyrics seem like they wrote them after smoking weed. Don't get me wrong, I don't mind the odd song like that. But I mean, most of the songs on the new album seem a little half-assed. Cigaro is fun to listen to for the humour, but it goes away after a while and seems a tad immature after a few listens

Meh, ill still call it BOBD, im ignorant like that.

I didn't realize Anthony Green was the vocalist for Circa Survive as well as Saosin and The Sound Of Animals Fighting until I just listened to Juturna right after Translating The Name EP

^^That makes no sence to me what so ever.....

Kif 05-20-2005 03:37 PM

New Foo Fighters video on C4 tonight :D

cbmartinez 05-20-2005 03:37 PM

Too many people like CS solely on the fact that "OMG ANTHONY GREEN BEST VOCALIST EVR."

Kif 05-20-2005 03:38 PM
Too many people like CS solely on the fact that "OMG ANTHONY GREEN BEST VOCALIST EVR."
Well he isn't. Circa's vocals are pretty weak compared to Saosin and TSOAF

You got snyped, mother trucker!

cbmartinez 05-20-2005 03:40 PM

TSOAF was groovy but CS is sooo boring. He's a good vocalist but not the best.

Kif 05-20-2005 03:43 PM

I'm listening to TSOAF now, and I'm really impressed with Randy's (Finch) guitar work. It's incredibly fast, something I didn't think I'd hear. I must say, that was what really hyped me up for the new album a lot.

Plus TSOAF are just amazing anyway. I mean, they wear animal masks. Hardcore, that is

I love him in Saosin, idk, he's just so clean and just really good. I havn't heard Circa Survive though.

I know :D
1 hour until it is on isn't it? 11.35 I seem to remember.
I hope it goes back to the funniness of old videos, we had quite a few boring ones like All My Life, Times Like These (Both versions) and Have It All, although Low was pretty good.

cbmartinez 05-20-2005 03:45 PM

Yeah, I remember the guitar work really impressing me on TSOAF. He did that really fast strumming style that was so cool and I was like "This is Finch's guitar?" Then I heard "Ink" which also blew my mind.

Untitled 05-20-2005 03:46 PM

Learn to fly, Break Out, Monkey Wrench, some of the best videos ever, with brillent songs too.

I saw read about the Foo Fighters thing a big ago, its on after Dillan Moran, or whatever he's called.

Yeah, but their most recent album has had a trend of boring videos, with the exception of Low.

Yeah, new Finch work is heavily underated. On Absolute Punk, they have been written off as sell-outs and utter crap, and I just think "Why?". I mean, they can't release another WIITB, not now. I say that alot, but it's true.

The main thing that pissed me off about TSOAF though, is that there's only 4 real songs on the album. I mean, they are very varied, but still, that's like 18 minutes of songs, and the album is 34 minutes long.

I doubt it will, I think Foo Fighters have grown out of that little phase. Low was an extremely funny video I thought. I little twisted, but that's OK. It had Jack Black in, and he's awesome

I'll upload the songs on the album. I'll leave the interludes and stuff, they are mainly electronic anyway

TSOAF are a side-project made up of "animals" for legal issues, but I know who's in it :D

Bull****. The new sound is so bitchin' and it's definitely doesn't sound like anyone out there right now save maybe Glassjaw, but the band has always been open about his love for Glassjaw. I'd go far as to say the two new songs already beat the whole WIITB album.

I agree completely. Both musically, vocally and lyrically, Finch are way better than the WIITB years. That's a very generic album to today's standards, and all the songs I have completely destroy that album. I'm so psyched to be seeing them now, I've heard them play Ink and Ravenous live through mp3s, and they sound so vicious

Ink is just one of those songs which everyone will remember Finch by, and Brother Bleed Brother is underated I think. I mean, the breakdown in the middle is so tense

cbmartinez 05-20-2005 03:56 PM

Are you talking about that "And I dieeee" part? Cause I freak when that part happens, I love it so much. I still like "Brother Bleed Brother" more than "Ink."

the-UK-ska-scene 05-20-2005 04:00 PM

You ever realise how people are really not good sometimes.

I'm just listening to this song that I was listening to a lot last year when my gran died, and it reminds me of something that happened at college today.

This girl in my class was talking to my biology teacher (by the way he's the best teacher in the world, no contest), and she said "I might not be in lesson Monday, my gran's dying" and he said "Don't worry about it! If you ever need anyone to talk to, just remember I'm here"

Last year, when my gran died, I had to miss one biology lesson because of her funeral, and when I went to my teacher first thing the next morning I said "I'm so sorry I missed the lesson, I was at a funeral, could I have the notes from the class" and my old biology teacher (absolute bitch) said "I'm not going to give you the notes, you'll have to copy it off someone else who turned up to the class". So I did copy up the notes (guiding us on how to do our coursework), but my friend hadn't copied them down exactly properly so I ended up failing that piece of coursework and having to retake it while the rest of the class did other work

Some people in the world are bastards, and others are the coolest people you could ever want to meet. It's all the luck of the draw. That's Jas' piece of wisdom for the day.

It's the bit where it does the lead, rhythm and drums. Then rhythm and drums. And then it just dies out, and it goes into the "I'll hold my breath" part. It's just so amazing

The other songs are really good too. Fireflies, Revelation: Song, Ravenous and Insomniatic Meat in particular. The bit in Insomniatic Meat where Nate is just screaming "This is the worst thing that you have ever done" over and over and over, it's really scary actually. His voice gets so deep on the new songs, especially Ink

chumpradio 05-20-2005 04:03 PM

I'm just getting a torrent of TSOAF now. I am looking to forward to hearing it.

I have a teacher, Mr. Wilson. He teaches Geometry and I love him. He's always nice and he's easy to convince to not give any homework. And unlike some other teachers, I'm not afraid to go ask him a question because he doesn't make you feel like a complete idiot if you're wrong or have no idea what you're doing.

Cool teachers are the best. The ones that you know you can talk to if something's going on and they're almost like a really good friend.

Let me get this straight. Her teacher let her take Monday's lesson (3 days away) off because she said her gran was dying? How is that ethical? I mean, I would never use that as an excuse to get out of school. I can understand if it's for her funeral, but if she's in hospital where she's being treated the best she can?

I don't really agree with her teacher's decision as harsh as it may sound, but I agree with you. He had no right to go off on one at you for going to your gran's funeral. I'd be so pissed at one of my teacher's if they did that, and I probably would have said something to them.

I wish I had a teacher like that. :upset:

My old art teacher in middle school, Mr. Callan, was great. He was into a bunch of old punk, and he got my friend and I into The Clash.

He would talk about how he used to be into ska and he would go to ska shows all the time and skank. One day he started skanking right in the middle of class. It was so awesome.

Well it certainly is a shame about your teachers compared to most of mine. One of my teachers only knows the words "I dont know" so its not very useful
