Parfait 07-27-2005 06:51 PM

by the way, Speaking in Tongues by Talking Heads is an album that gets sort of a raw deal. Listen to it an enjoy.

But every Talking Heads album is the best thing in the world, is it not?

Luxor 07-28-2005 12:22 AM

Talking Heads are pretty darn good.
But every Talking Heads album is the best thing in the world, is it not?
No, not quite.

Zappa 07-28-2005 12:24 AM

Mmhmm.

br3ad_man 07-28-2005 12:36 AM

How is Little Creatures? I see that everywhere for next to nothing.

Zappa 07-28-2005 12:37 AM

I haven't given it much attention. I haven't enjoyed it much when I've listened.

Dog 07-28-2005 12:39 AM

Little Creatures is awesome. If you've seen it somewhere for cheap, get it.

Today I've been diggin' Devo - Freedom Of Choice, Pere Ubu - Dub Housing, and The Violent Femmes s/t.

Edit: didn't know Pere Ubu's name. rofl

Double Edit: Oh and Elbow's new album is awesome.

Dog 07-28-2005 12:47 AM

I fail at life. Shut up I just got the cd today. :upset:

Edit: Wait, how would one go about pronouncing "Pere." Is it like "Pier," or "Pear," or is it French or something weird.

Kings of Convenience right now. I tried listening to Converge before but it didn't work.

Iai 07-28-2005 03:05 PM

Opeth - Ghost Reveries (3.5/5)

Disappointed. I love Opeth, but this album is a definite move towards me agreeing with everything Zappa says about them. It's really formulaic and repeats their past work a lot. Still, worth it for a fan to pick up.

el doctor 07-28-2005 03:17 PM

I don't know of anyone so far who's been satisfied with the new Opeth.

And I've been digging:

Beulah - The Coast Is Never Clear
Squarepusher - Music Is Rotted One Note
Boards of Canada - Geogaddi

Yeah I like You Fail Me and Jane Doe. Listening to them last night didn't work well though, that's all. Wasn't in the mood.

First listens of:

Hard Fi - Stars Of CCTV (4/5)
Brian Eno - Ambient 1 (Music For Airports) (5/5)

Downloading the new Raveonettes album as I type this. Anyone know what it's like?

Zappa 07-29-2005 11:07 AM

Waking up with Focus by Cynic. This record is pretty brainy, but it's also pretty great.

Iai 07-29-2005 11:43 AM

I just reliased, I have a TON of records I've never listened to to get through.

YSI *shakes fist*

Better get cracking on that.

Bene listening to Kraftwerk - Minimum-Maximum and Manic Street Preachers - Generation Terrorists in the hope of reviewing both. Doesn't seem to be happening.

Interstate 07-29-2005 01:53 PM
Smoking Popes - Born to Quit

^ imagine Morrissey fronting Alkaline Trio, and you have the best album ever.
Man that sounds like a good album!

Just finished listening to The Raveonettes - Pretty In Black. It's ok but nothing too special (on first listen anyway)
