Humidity and elevation make all the difference.
I would kill to go overseas to study history. I'm thinking of faking jewishness to get an internship in Israel. Apparently there is a Jewish centre on St. Catherines Street that helps students go all over the place.
Just complain a lot.

I can do a good Jew. I keep getting ambushed by Birthright leaders trying to pressure me into going. On top of that, I know more about Jewish history than most Jews I've met, so I can probably pass.

I found a kosher cook book in my kitchen when I was cleaning it out. I'm taking it with me when I move.

Remember Ben: Don't, for the love of the Father, ever, ever boil a goat's head in its mother's milk.

I thought that was the epitome of Kosher?

I need to refamiliarize myself with the 613 laws of Hasidism.

Spaceman Spiff 08-07-2009 03:44 PM

Anyone heard of The Antlers?

They're some new band from Brooklyn and they're very good from what I've heard of them.

You have strayed from your people to walk among the Nations.

Yeah, they're good. I've got their album Hospice, and I quite enjoy it.

I just found out about them yesterday and have heard only two or three songs off that album, but I really like what I've heard.

BenJammin 08-07-2009 04:14 PM

Definitely check out the rest of it. It's a good late night, cloudy day kind of album.

Spaceman Spiff 08-07-2009 05:01 PM

I definitely will.

Also, those John Friskynazi songs for The Brown Bunny are incredible. I've been listening to the five songs a couple of times per day for the last few days.

Yo wtf is with all these 4 year old threads being resurrected?

Spaceman Spiff 08-08-2009 10:24 AM

I guess I'm desensitized. Sure, the picture is gross and blahblahblah, but I've seen way worse because of BME.

funkyhoney 08-08-2009 10:32 AM

I agree, I guess. I saw it and was like "eh, anther shock image".

In other news, I bought a new amp.

BenJammin 08-08-2009 12:27 PM

What'd you get?

i had been playing exclusively with a pick since I first picked up a bass, switched over to my fingers a year ago, and just now I decided to fiddle with a pick again and couldnt play to save my life with it...WHY HAVENT I SEEN THE LIGHT SOONER!?!?!?!?

fishbulb 08-09-2009 03:31 PM

Whew! After 3+ weeks of fixing both my used Trace Elliot amp and Ampeg 810 cabinet it's finally all working. So happy and relieved that it's finished. I payed $250 for a '96 Trace Elliot RAH300SMX (280 watt RMS), $180 for a replacement powerboard for it, and $250 for the Ampeg 810.

Personally I think there isn't a single reason why you shouldn't be able to do both proficiently :thumb:

Because no matter what any finger player will say, there are so many situation where a pick will often be way more suitable than fingers.

I often use swap between pick and finger a few times in just one song.

Or you could learn to double thumb. pix r ghey.

Depends what you're doing, I don't yet use one but there's a few songs which I think it'd make my life a lot easier.

thumb is no substitute for a pick... you don't get anywhere near that same tone unless maybe you have a crazy thumbnail

besides that, i've heard very few people double thumb and make it sound good. even wooten cant

BenJammin 08-09-2009 08:48 PM

If you've got a good DT technique, you'd be better off picking up banjo.

I meant double thumbing as in just using your thumb on the down and upstroke like you would a pick, none of the other clicky bullshit.

And suppose you don't want the tone of a pick?
