Tyler 03-12-2011 01:15 PM

anyone else at the bovine last night?

Tyler 03-14-2011 01:46 PM

Interviewing these guys tomorrow if any of you have questions

Benzilla 03-14-2011 02:31 PM

For Rody: "Did you feel any pressure to stick to the general lyrical themes of divinity and esoterica that Arif established?"

In fact, I'm just interested in how Rody came into writing the lyrics for the new album in general. Was it something he's been working on for a while?

Destructerator 03-14-2011 05:36 PM
Was it a conscious decision to move away from the harsher vocals on ‘Scurrilous’ or did it happen naturally during the writing process?

There was really just no place for it. I only ever screamed when it felt totally necessary. I know a lot of people thought that travelling from the low screams to the high screams and then into singing is what truly made it something special… In their eyes this album will be total shit, and that’s okay… because I think those people don’t see the big picture… in fact I consider those people to be very small minded.
Allprotest did an interview. So things don't get redundant.

http://allprotest.com/2011/03/exclusive-rody-walker-interview-fan-questions

You should ask him if he still wants to do that duet with Hayley Williams, and if he wrote Hair-Trigger with her in mind.

Ventriloquist 03-14-2011 05:45 PM

Streaming the album for the first time. This songs are going to be so much fun to play.

Tyler 03-14-2011 06:21 PM

I'm not going to read another interview just so mine won't cross-over. The cross-over is inevitable and I'd rather not end myself before I start.

Destructerator 03-14-2011 06:30 PM

Most interviews seem to ask the same questions...

willfellmarsy 03-14-2011 08:40 PM

"tell a joke, take a piss"...are they serious with this shit?

Tyler 03-14-2011 08:45 PM

You're really beat up about this, aren't you?

Also, taking the piss is a common way of saying "to joke".

beans 03-14-2011 08:49 PM

wow, hard to believe that there are people that wouldnt make that connection

on topic
album has not left my player for around a week and a half.
cant get enough of it

willfellmarsy 03-14-2011 08:52 PM

tyler...tho you may have never realized this, i always loved you and found you to be one of the better users on this site/reliable in opniion even if sometimes you're a bit too serious...but come on i see you on the review site with a 4.5 for this and i can't believe it...i know you'll defend it and such, but i can't see any fair comparison to kezia or fortress other than maybe in musicianship...this is one of the only bands i liked in high school that i still like and for them to release this, i am "beat up about this"...ugh, i was so excited and for what? The words sickening and quickening should not be rhymed

2muchket! 03-14-2011 08:54 PM

lmao willfellmarsy again proves to be one of the lulziest posters here

beans 03-14-2011 08:54 PM

think he gets a boner over your chiselled features tyler bro

Tyler 03-14-2011 09:15 PM

I really like how melodic they've gotten, and while I loved Rody's progress into a harsh vocalist on Fortress, I much prefer his cleans and he's hit a new level on this. Some of the lyrics are a little iffy, but some are hilarious. If anything, hearing him reflect directly on their career, something I've been following basically since the start, attaches me to it even more.

willfellmarsy 03-14-2011 10:02 PM

i understand its enjoyability as a joke and such (and obvi i understand knowing the band creates a different experience in the listener), but they seem to be reaching for a satire they're not capable of achieving...his cleans hav definitely hit a new level, but they become monotonous because of the serious lack of memorable vocal melodies and the fact that now, he doesn't have enough variation to carry the album on his own (while the guest feature seems forced...that cold part, ugh)...i liked pth so much because rody was so versatile and his cleans complimented his harsh vocals so well...i'm sorry but he's not cedic bixler-zavala and the music, though obviously a step up in technicality, is starting to feel more rehash of old pth than any kind of songwriting progression...

2muchket! 03-15-2011 06:21 AM

No-one here enjoys this album ironically as a joke you fucking hair brained faggot.

willfellmarsy 03-15-2011 07:22 AM

then i don't see how one could enjoy the album...is everyone on this site still in high school? I mean if you guys haven't heard this band yet, limp bizket writes some comparable lyrics to this album's"...ie...fucked up aids, from fucked up sex, fake ass titties on her fucked up chest...wow i think pth stole the concept of sex tapes from them...

2muchket! 03-15-2011 07:32 AM

Average age on the forums is around 20 -22.

And considering how incoherent you are 90% of the time I think it's rich that you're like IZ ERRY1 STIL IN HI SKOOL HER URE ALL FFUKEN FDUM FAGGOFTS LOL

Considering the slightly ridiculous nature of their music, I think most people are receptive to the slight change in lyrical content. And you not understand the meaning of Sex-Tapes is p funny.

Further proof tyler, as well as the fucking hilarious backlash on the review for this album, that the review site is filled with a bunch of faggots. Indie faggots as well.

Ventriloquist 03-15-2011 07:49 AM
Amen to that; I even pre-ordered the tab book.
I mostly figure it out by ear. For messed up parts i go for guitar pro. More convenient.

I don't have any problems with rody's clean vox. Although some parts I'm like: dayum i wish he screamed this part. First half of the album was pretty memorable going to give it a 2nd spin tonight

willfellmarsy 03-15-2011 07:50 AM

saying things like "you not understanding the meaning" blah blah mean nothing to me...i understand that every part of this album sounds like fortress 2 with clean vocals...there's very few parts on the album that aren't protest the progression, and the elements that have changed (lyrics, vocal approach, lack of concept) have all dramatically changed for the worse...just compare she who mars the skin... with hair trigger...it's no comparison...what they were trying to do would work with a mike patton or serj tankian, because those two would have handled the vocals in such a way that it was clearly a joke, not be belting out falsetto while spewing trite lyrical garbage from their mouths...rody's soooooo bad in every way on this album...WHERE ARE THE VOCAL MELODIES?

2muchket! 03-15-2011 07:52 AM

I think understanding the lyrics are important if you're going to try and critique them moron.

U so mad.

DBlitz 03-15-2011 08:04 AM

i'd get it if people were complaining about the music. i don't really have a problem with the vocals or lyrics. i don't think they're nearly as good as their older lyrics, but oh well.

album is still fun, haven't listened to it in a while though.

Tyler 03-15-2011 11:09 AM

I do think the lyrics are as good as in the past, they're just written differently. They're really much more related to them, especially Rody, as people. I think the connection to the lyrics, relating to life as a band and in general, really show a different connection. I have to imagine it can be a bit stale sometimes playing songs where your opinions are so heavily masked by metaphor that you can't be sure they're even yours.

alachlahol 03-15-2011 11:49 AM

heard c'est la vie on youtube this is bad. still a bunch of technical masturbation these jokers are trying to get their songs on rock band
