Blackbird 11-15-2005 06:53 AM

Yeh Let It Be the album is good.. but naked is better. Just more polished and unSpectorized.

I'm listening to 'Get Back' right now.. that song just rocks.

The Beatles are plain awesome.
Cool. What's the difference on Eight Days A Week?
At the beginning instead of the famous guitar intro, it's the verse strumming, with them humming a melody that's similiar to what would become the guitar riff. Then in between the song, it stops and it plays a recording of John and George talking about the song. George is roughly strumming what would become the intro and he goes "I'll try to remember it John but if I dont well that's to bad idn't it!" It's pretty cool.

Now onto an other subject!

Has anyone in here heard the band Big Star

There often compared to the Beatles! Alex Chilton was the Lennon, and Chris Bell was the McCartney. They have great vocal melodies, great melodic guitar, and like the beatles there songs vary. They have Thirteen an acoustic song about teen romance (Tell your dad get off my back, tell him what we said bout "Paint It Black" Rock N' ROll is here to stay).

And also like the beatles they have awesome harmony vocals. They are one of the most influential Alt bands, and possibly the most underrated band of all time, all three of there albums are considered classics. But most people have never heard of them, because ..to make a long story short, there record label was going down, and most times there albums never made it to the stores!

I highly recommend them...from one beatles fan to another haha!

"July 31, 1966: Alabamans burn Beatles products due to John Lennon's anti-Jesus remark"

Holy crap, this happened on my birth-date!

Seafroggys 11-16-2005 12:34 AM

I'll provide a drum track to Something.....if this is still going on....I'll think that'll need to be recorded first, but right now my recording computer is down and in pieces and I don't know when I can get a copy of WIn 98 to put it back together.

blue3 11-16-2005 02:50 AM

I saw those Lennon yellow submarine action figures.. Those were so cool.

Some website on www.bored.com. It had a link to some site that shows events that happened on your birthday.

Seafroggys 11-16-2005 11:51 PM

I own all the Yellow SUbmarine action figures. Out of the box, because hoestly, being second run stuff (not originals from 1968) they wouldn't ever get that high in value, and I"ll never sell them, so I might as well keep them and enjoy them.

True enough. Second run stuff annoys me. Like those hockey cards that look like they're super old but were made in 1990 or so.

Britton 11-17-2005 12:07 AM

Yea they do that alot in the card market...I guess it's kinda cool but definatly
over done

It's just annoying when you think you've found a gem and then you look on the back and find out that it's worthless.

jerry_soh_619 11-18-2005 06:17 AM

ladies and gentelman the beatles are the best fockiing group of all time, i mean its just that simple im 22 and at my short life i know this, ive studyed music in high school and now in college and i havent found one other band who is more influential and revolutionary than the beatles, why u all ask its simple, first of all they were the first band to experiment with the guitar and bass playing diffrent notes, the ventures tryd to use the bass as switch to go from verse to chorus, but mccartney who is also the best bass player of all time, was able to understand that u can play notes in a circle of the chord the guitar is playing and thats what essentially he did wich nevermind me saying is the groundwork of how the bass is played today! mccartney proved that the bass can lead a song just as well as a guitar, elvis may have started the rock n roll movement but the beatles refined it and made it better, the beatles were also able to figure out how to play two guitars at the same time in such timely fashion nevermind that the bass is playing diffrent notes than the rythm guitar u got the lead guitar playing diffrent chords than the rythem guitar? wowwww this was unheard of back in those days there was surely no blueprints the beatles could listen too to get these ideas, and this is why i get frustrated when people that realy dont know nothing about music say the beatles werent techincal hey buddy they started techinicality in rock n roll, and lets face it before ringo starr came onto the scene the drums were pretty much the same beat, the same tempo, the same snair snatch, the same hi hat roll, ringo and his un-orthodox style today called ''rim shot'' consisted of him hitting the metal ring on the snair and the center of the snair at the same type to create a diffrent sound, the best example is the help album he using the same snair hes just hitting it diffrently, the beatles had a kick *** manager, oh and one of the most influential producers (george martin) who really didnt know much about rock n roll cause he was involved in opera music and stage music, but he had lots of knowledge of music and how to get the most out of recordings, mixing and sessions, wich also many of his ideas and feats are also groundworks for all studios of today past and present, ladies and gentelman the beatles were the complete package they had it all no other band is more influential i doubt there will ever be another rock n roll band as influential nevermind being more, i think youll all agree! :)

clown_phobia 11-18-2005 06:24 AM

yeah. its true.

Jacaran 11-18-2005 08:22 AM

Haha, I totally disagree with all that you said basically but I won't argue since this is the Beatles thread.

jerry_soh_619 11-18-2005 04:00 PM

theres no discusion jacran its just that simple

123. All though I agree with most with what you say, It was a bit tough on my eyes to read it all at once. And Jacaran, this the Beatles Thread, so if you don't like them, leave.
And Jacaran, this the Beatles Thread, so if you don't like them, leave.
 Jacaranda is a Beatles thread regular, I think what he meant is a lot of the things Jerry Soh said were inaccurate, and he doesn't agree with them, but he won't argue since it is the Beatles thread.

Oops. My mistake. Sorry Jacranda, no offence intended.

jerry_soh_619 11-18-2005 08:58 PM

sorry bout my long comment had to get most of my ideas in there kinda wish jacran would come at me with some hard facts to prove me wrong tho i doubt he will since im understudying in music and i pretty much know what im talking about im not saying their the best of all time evryone has diffrent tastes but the beatles are the greatest its just that simple people, get away from the whole beatlemania syndrome and actually study their music, look at the big picture, they are the most influential revolutionary rock n roll media of all time!

BlackDeathMetalJazz or really ANYTHING else please- 11-18-2005 09:54 PM
mccartney who is also the best bass player of all time
No.

The Beatles aren't necessarily my favorite band but I agree, they were the greatest musical act the world has ever seen. Sure you make an arguement for such artists as Miles Davis, Johnny Cash, Ray Charles, Elvis...etc but none of them came anywhere near what the Beatles have accomplished. They changed the face of music forever.

dr._feelgood 11-18-2005 10:09 PM

The Beatles are amazing but instrumentally they're just average... nothing revolutionary. But George Martin was a great producer.
