This isn't the final page.....

WE HAVE 10,000 MORE POSTS LEFT!!!!!!
Listen to this man, I don't know how many times I've said it's 60,000 not 50,000. If this thread were ever to be closed, it's still a long time away, so stop talking about it.

Just out of curiosity I checked, and it took us 7 months to get 10,000 posts.

Doctor Night 11-11-2005 12:08 PM

So, has anyone heard of a classic rock band called 'B-Bop Deluxe'. If so, are they any good. They're from a place not too far from me.

Glitterati 11-11-2005 12:54 PM
pfft, n00b. I have 283

What Roy Orbison albums would you suggest that I listen to?
I only have a greatest hits. And it's not even mine, it's actually my dad's

Schyma repped me and now I'm up to 223. I'm catching up

np: Harvest Moon. Such a beautiful song, hense the user title

thickasabrick 11-11-2005 01:25 PM

So get this....my guitar teacher (who is also sorta like my boss) has a lot of connections to various musicians around the world (mostly in Canada, US and England), he's brought in a lot of cool musicians/songwriters to do demo's/workshops and that sorta stuff. The least famous, yet the coolest was when I got to spend four hours with the man who won the "Best Acoustic Fingerpicking" competition in North America last year, he was amazing (he played a few Beatles songs, bass, rhythm guitar, lead guitar, and vocal lines...all at the same time!!! It was nuts!!!)

So tomorrow he is bringing in a songwriter from Montreal (far ways away!), and I'm invited to attend his workshop. Ray (my guitar teacher) calls me today, and tells me that the songwriter is staying at a hotel downtown, and doesn't have transportation to reach our music school (plus, he doesn't speak English very well, and doesn't know the city at all)...so Ray asked me if I could pick him up. I said yes. Now, I've gotta figure out what kind of music I'm going to have playing in my car as I "escort" him around the city. You don't think he would react too negatively to Dylan and the Dead would you? I'm not really like stressed out or worried about this, I just figure it would make for some interesting conversation. What would you guys choose to have playing in your car, in my situation? Something that would maybe spark an interesting conversation between me and him, or at least show him I know a good songwriter when I hear one.

np: Bob Dylan - You're Gonna Make Me Lonesome When You Go.

magicbus 11-11-2005 02:03 PM

What kind of music does this one play?

NP: Jimi Hendrix - Voodoo Chile

jpj 11-11-2005 02:15 PM

Find some recordings of him and play those.

You can't go wrong with Dylan, but Dylan and the Dead is kind of... bad. Well, actually I've only heard two songs from it, but Dylan's voice was so terrible I just couldn't take it...

So, how'd everyone vote in the first vocalist comp? I voted for Joplin, because Lennon and Mercury would make it through fine.

jpj 11-11-2005 02:24 PM

I don't understand why everyone says Dylan's voice is bad on it...I mean come on, it's Bob Dylan. People act like they were expecting Roger Daltrey. His voice sounds no worse than it usually does.

nisakss 11-11-2005 02:32 PM

Would you consider U2 as classic rock?

Glitterati 11-11-2005 02:33 PM
Would you consider U2 as classic rock?
I would. I'm actually getting back into U2

I was just expecting Bob Dylan to sound like Bob Dylan, on All Along the Watchtower he sounds nothing like himself.

robo2448 11-11-2005 02:37 PM

I like Dylan's voice on Dylan and the Dead. Don't know why.

I don't think U2 is considered classic rock but I like them a lot. Good band, their kind of right on the classic rock border.

I voted Lennon because I'm not sold that he's definitely going through. He's also my favorite singer in the poll, so I would have voted for him regardless. I know Mercury has an amazing voice and blows Lennon away technically, I just like Lennon's style better.

np- Traffic- Every Mother's Son

JonG 11-11-2005 05:24 PM

Schyma, did you get Live at Fillmore East?

I've been listening to a lot of T-Bone and Minutemen lately.

Walrus Gumboot 11-11-2005 05:31 PM

I really like Freddie the best, but I wanted to pull Lennon through

No that I have access to a scanner I should scan the picture of a picture I have of Lennon in a dress and Yoko in a Civil War uniform
It was in some antique store

BlackDeathMetalJazz or really ANYTHING else please- 11-11-2005 05:42 PM
Schyma, did you get Live at Fillmore East?
Yea, I'm trying to download it as I type. Thanks a ton man.

PinkFreud 11-11-2005 06:07 PM

i voted joplin. mercury will get through. she wont, but should.

JonG 11-11-2005 06:11 PM

I voted Lennon, because I know Mercury is gonna win.

Just downloaded some albums:

Buddy Guy and Junior Wells - Alone & Acoustic
Buddy Guy and Junior Wells - Drinkin TNT and Smokin Dynamite
Miles Davis - Kind of Blue
Nick Drake - Five Leaves Left

I'm in the process of getting Traveling Wilburys Vol.1 and 3.

Broken Arrow 11-11-2005 06:13 PM

I like Dylan and the Dead too.

Me and JPJ listened to it first on the same night.

Albums I've listened to today-
Live at the Fillmore East
The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan
Bringing it all Back Home

JonG 11-11-2005 06:14 PM

Bringing It All Back Home is easily one of my favorites. It has so many of my favorite tracks on it.

:)

Fillmore East and Freewheelin' are good also.

np: Buddy Guy and Junior Wells - Checking On My Baby

I haven't listened to any, but if I had i would have listened to

Grace- Jeff Buckley
Mirror Ball - Neil Young
Join Together- The Who

BTW, Livewired, have you heard of Time Fades Away? Do you have it?

Broken Arrow 11-11-2005 06:38 PM

It's on my next to get list. I've heard most of the songs through that bootleg, most of the album was recorded live though. (I think)

It's one of the only ones I need to have his complete 70's collection.

I have-

Neil Young
Everybody Know This is Nowhere
After the Goldrush
Harvest
On the Beach
Zuma
Tongiht's the Night
Comes a Time
Rust Never Sleeps
Freedom
Ragged Glory
Harvest Moon
Greendale
Praire Wind

And that bootleg from '71.

Deja Vu
So Far(compilation)
Buffalo Springfield

Alone and Acoustic is awesome. Junior Wells is a great harmonica player. Don't have Drinkin' TNT and Smokin' Dynamite. Is it good?

Kind of Blue and Five Leaves Left are really good too. Traveling Wilburies Vol. 1 is amazing, and 3 is pretty good but has no Orbison and isn't as fun to listen to as Vol. 1. Not nearly as good, but still a solid album.

Albums I've listened to today
Bruce Springsteen- The Rising
Supertramp- Classics Vol. 9 (Not a Supertramp fan. Kind of bore me).
John Mayell's Bluesbreakers with Eric Clapton

Cool, what kind?

Earlier tonight, my freind and I went through my freind's old record collection. We found some good stuff, Neil Young, Bob Dylan, and CSNY. We also found The Easy Rider soundtrack.
