that's not it. some time ago, he fired his publicist, saying that he doesn't need someone to handle him. however, he obviously does. he is a strong believer in scientology (look it up, it's basically a cult with a big celebrity following). and until he fired his publicist, his crazy beliefs had been kept under wraps. however, he is more frequently voicing his opinions, especially those unique to his scientologist beliefs, in the public forum. the katie holmes thing may be related, but not really beyond the fact that she used to fantasize about him as a little girl and now she's marrying him at the cost of winding up stick in a cult.
