Goodbye is so underrated. Badge is one of my top 3 Cream songs and the live version of I'm So Glad is freaking awesome. Wheels of Fire is much, much, much better, but Goodbye is really overlooked. I've been listening to Cream all day today.

np- Badge (yeah I listen to this song a lot)
Badge is great. I love the way it starts out slow, then gets faster with the guitar and piano near the end.

Out of curiousity, does anyone here listen to any ska? I've recently discovered ska and I'm addicted.

Illmatic 11-09-2005 09:34 PM

Ska is one of the very few music genres that I cannot listen to, period.

Walrus Gumboot 11-09-2005 09:36 PM

There's a ska band that a former schoolmate's friend's brother (heh) made before they moved and he went to college or whatnot. They are pretty good

I have actually never heard them recorded, but they were awesome live, I reckon they are called Axis of Evil. They are probably on myspace or something

EDIT: Kenny G is the only think I can't listen to, period

magicbus 11-09-2005 09:41 PM

I heard a Kenny G Christmas song that I liked. Granted I didn't know it was Kenny G until after it was done.

I plan on getting Fresh Cream next, but I didn't really have any intent on getting Goodbye. Is it good?

PinkFreud 11-09-2005 09:44 PM

haha. anyone want to chat? im real bored.

Well then you can go rock out to your Wu-Tang Clan.

Illmatic 11-09-2005 09:47 PM

Better RZA than the fucking Aquabats.

PinkFreud 11-09-2005 09:54 PM

you know its true?

rza ftw.

kill bill 1 soundtrack ftw.

I like Goodbye a lot. But Fresh Cream is more essential. On Goodbye, it starts off with an amazing performance of I'm So Glad that's like 9 minutes long and just awesome. Then there are live recordings of Politician and Sitting On Top of the World which are great as well, and then Badge which is awesome, and two filler songs. Fresh Cream is a more consistent and better overall album. Sleepy Time Time is like the most underrated song ever. Didn't Lunch upload Fresh Cream like last week though?

There's going to be a free concert on my town green on Saturday. A black performer named Calvin Earl who performs old songs written by slaves back in the 1800's. Should be pretty interesting. Free concerts are cool.

rockinbass17 11-09-2005 10:06 PM

Speaking of I'm So Glad, the word "Glad" is sung 120 times in that song.

Oh, oh! Pick me, I love ska I just bought like 4 used Fishbone albums for like 2 dollars awhile ago but haven't got a chance to give them a good listen. But my favorite ska and is by far Might Mighty Bosstones but followed by Aquabats I like the more up-tempo ska... (All ska is up-tempo :S)
Didn't Lunch upload Fresh Cream like last week though?
Yeah I've had it on my computer for a while, but I'm gonna buy it next.

MBS 11-09-2005 10:19 PM

David Gilmour is cool. He's such a good guitarist and I like his vocals on "Shine On You Crazy Diamond" better than Roger's.

NP: Fat Old Sun - David Gilmour in Concert

PinkFreud 11-09-2005 10:22 PM

he's a much better singer than waters. waters shouldnt even be in the vocalists comp.

Yeah, what the hell is up with that?

Illmatic 11-09-2005 10:33 PM

I often have trouble telling them apart, but I'm not a huge Pink Floyd fan.

PinkFreud 11-09-2005 10:33 PM

im assuming that a lot of people are retarded and think he sang for most of pink floyd's songs. it could also be a matter of taste, but his voice is so thin and weak and one dimensional and lame that i dont know how ANYone could enjoy it.

edit: i sounded like a jerk. im sure a lot of people are like illmatic, casual listeners of pink floyd who have a hard time.

no offense meant.

Jacaranda 11-09-2005 10:42 PM

Who sings on Money, and Wish You Were Here? I actually like the vocals on Piper at the Gates of Dawn better, I'm not a big Pink Floyd fan.

Gilmour sings both of those. He sings all the songs on DSOTM.

Waters became the main singer late in the band's career. I actually liked Waters voice, it's so cold and depressing. I like Gilmour's voice much more, but Water's voice really fits well on some of the depressing songs like on The Wall. I reallly love the duets parts on the Wall like Waters sings Pink's part and Gilmour's sings the mother's part in Mother. That's awesome stuff.

I don't think you can compare the two. Both Syd and Gilmour had the perfect voices for the type of music they were playing. "Bike" and "The Gnome" wouldn't be the same without Syd's extremly distinctive(sp?) British vocals. None of Dark Side era Floyd wouldn't be the same without Gilmour's vocals that sound so slow and calming it's almost trippy. Gilmour's voice is kinda like his guitar playing honestly not that great but with that kind of style how can you not just fall in love with him. I still wouldn't include Gilmour or Barrett in a top 20 of greatest singers though....

Leper 11-10-2005 12:32 AM

I'd include Gilmour, but I'd definitely hesitate to include Barrett.

Gilmour would be in my top 20 no question, but Barrett doesn't deserve to be anywhere near a top vocalist list, IMO.

Actually, Waters sings on Brain Damage/Eclipse, as well as time I think, and Wright does vocals on Time (the "tired of lying in the sunshine..." parts) and Us and Them (the reframe.)

I agree, though that the duets on The Wall are awesome. I think I'm the only guy on here who likes Waters more than Gilmour. Sure, Gilmour is more skilled, and his guitar playing second to none, but I love Waters dark depressing, and often cynical sound.

I was just about to say that.

Gilmour+Wright>Gilmour

jpj 11-10-2005 03:08 PM

I really like Wright's voice, it's very mellow. Did he sing on anything else?

Everyone go check out my write up on Gregg Allman in YDload's thread.
