I have it but never listened to it.
Which Wilco album is the one that has a bunch of Woody Guthrie songs that hadnt been released and they wrote melodies for them?
Mermaid Avenue Vol. 1 and Vol. 2. |
I'm really into Booker T and the Mgs now.
I might send out another greatest hits album by them because it doesnt have the same songs as the one Woodstock sent out, and has some groovy covers. Thats right I said groovy. |

Does anyone have Jeff Beck's Truth, or Beck-Ola? I hate to keep asking you guys, but, I'm itching for some nice, hard 60's rock.

Truth ****in rocks hard. I can send it to you if you wanna jump on AIM real quick. NP: Blind Faith - Can't Find My Way Home |
I don't dig Truth as much as you guys. The guitar playing rules but I don't find the other parts to be anything special.

NP: Blind Faith - Can't Find My Way Home
Okay, find me at almostansn11, my other one died, I don't now why. My parents said they have been looking for a good record player for me! If I get it, what lp's should I get? I already am thinking, of getting some famous jazz albums, maybe Incredible Jazz Guitar, Mingus Ah Um, and Kind Of Blue. For rock music, I'll probably get a Cream album, a Jeff Beck, and of course, some Beatles . I'm sure I can find all these on Ebay, since their is usually an excess of albums on their. |

The guitar is what makes it great IMO. That and Rod Stewart's acquired, yet rockin' style of singing. But the whole gritty blues-rock feel of the album is really awesome. It has a much different feel than his 70's fusion stuff like Blow By Blow, but Beck still uses his extremely unique style of guitar playing. |

I actually don't have the album, although I'd be interested in hearing it. *Chalks it down on steadily growing list of Jeff Beck albums I need to hear.* |
I'm not really fond of the vocals. But yea, you won't hear my say anything against his guitar playing.
|
Wow, this album is amazing (Truth) I'll definately look into Beck-ola.

Wasn't aware there was a Volume 2 out.... Although Billy Bragg's voice annoys the hell out of me I think it's great too. Even though I disagree with the concept (:p) "Christ for President" is my favorite song. This album reminds me of how badly I need some Woody Guthrie material...don't you have Dust Bowl Ballads?
I'm not really fond of the vocals. But yea, you won't hear my say anything against his guitar playing.
Agreed, great album but I really wish Rod Stewart wasn't singing.... Does anyone know if Elvis' first album the Sun Sessions is any good? It was the first album to make Rock popular in white America and began the great music of rockabilly so I'm assuming it's good..... |

I used to have it and it used to be one of my favorite albums. I love "Blue Moon of Kentucky". But I have to admit my favorite Elvis song would probably be some remix of one of his songs, they always sound so good with a dance tempo. Is it just me or is the long title hack site thingy not working? |

im writing some things for the vocalist comp. what do you guys think of my first one?
Jeff Buckley’s career was cut much too short. Only releasing a single official studio album, various live albums, and albums comprised of unreleased material, the public only got a taste of his potential. Said potential, however, was much more than anyone could have anticipated. His album, Grace, is 51 minutes of some of the best vocals ever recorded in rock. Though every track is tremendous in its own way, there are several stand outs. His cover of Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah,” is a masterpiece. Buckley’s soaring vocals convey the intense emotions while at the same time highlighting his excellent vocal control and range. “So Real,” showcases the tremendous ability that he possessed. The title track is the real show-stopper, though. “Grace,” features Buckley’s best vocals, flowing, emoting, flying high over the listener, fixing one in one’s steps. Apart from Grace, Jeff has several unreleased tracks that cement his place atop the mountain of rock vocalists. His rendition of the opera song, “Dido’s Lament,” is a testament to his versatility and the strength in his voice. The songs listed below are some of his best, but personally, I would recommend buying Grace and if you like what you hear, progress from there. I'm all for the Jeff Buckley whoring.
Last Goodbye is my favorite song of his. |
last goodbye is great.
Paul McCartney is a legend for his work with the Beatles, his solo career, and his work with Wings, mostly because of his song-writing. What people often over-look is his voice. Paul has turned in some great vocal performances. “Helter Skelter,” is credited as one of the first heavy metal-style songs. Part of this is due to the heavy guitar riff, yet much of it is Paul’s heavy, ragged vocals. He shows great power but can turn on a dime and sing tenderly such as in tracks like “Let It Be” and “Yesterday.” When he combines the two, the results can be breathtaking. “Oh! Darling” is a great example. “Golden Slumbers” is like the aforementioned track, but shows his lower range as well. He’s an extremely capable vocalist whose abilities were taken for granted for quite some time. “Golden slumbers fill your eyes./Smiles awake you when you rise./Sleep pretty darling, do not cry/And I will sing a lullabye.” – Golden Slumbers “Oh! Darling/if you leave me/I’ll never make it alone./Believe me when I tell you/you don’t ever leave me alone.” – Oh! Darling “And when the broken hearted people, living in the world agree/There will be an answer, let it be./For though they may be parted, there is still a chance that they will see/There will be an answer, let it be.” – Let It Be |
