From what I've heard its pretty aweful...
Well it's a good thing I just bought the regular album then. I found it for 12 bucks at Borders, but then I also found a 25% off coupon on one of the cd shelves, so I only had to pay 8 dollars

JonG 11-06-2005 06:14 PM

Catching up:

Yes, I like T-Bone a lot, he is unique and a great player all around.
It's good that your radio station is playing NRPS :)
I would like those albums also, jong21790@gmail.com

Broken Arrow 11-06-2005 07:47 PM

Broken Arrow 11-06-2005 08:33 PM

All I have is Surrealistic Pillow (Bonus Tracks) and Bless it's Little Pointed Head.

There good though.

JonG 11-06-2005 08:37 PM

I have:

Surrealistic Pillow
Early Flight
Takes Off
Volunteers

np: Eric Sardinas - Same Ol' Way

I might send this album out, he's awesome.

Lunch 11-06-2005 09:09 PM

Volunteers is great. Especially the title track, classic 60's anthem.

JonG 11-06-2005 09:12 PM

Indeed.

Love that song.

Reminds me of Forest Gump.

Illmatic 11-06-2005 09:17 PM

I don't really like Jefferson Airplane all that much :-\

Also, I heard the Gram Parsons version of "Love Hurts"...so much better than the cover by Nazareth.

JonG 11-06-2005 09:19 PM

I have that on my GP/Grevious Angel album.

It's pretty good.

Nazareth is way too whiney.

Illmatic 11-06-2005 09:20 PM

Any one else have stuff by Gram Parsons? I heard Keith Richards was a pretty big fan.

JonG 11-06-2005 09:22 PM

I have him when he's on:

Sweetheart of the Rodeo
GP
Grevious Angel
The Gilded Palace of Sin
Sleepless Nights

All good albums.

I was just about to say that, I have one of the Flying Burrito Brothers that I think I stole from JonG.

How'd he die? Drug over dose?

NP: the sound of the Eagles going down the drain.

Illmatic 11-06-2005 09:24 PM

Another Parsons/Richards note: It seems that whenever I read about the Stones album Sticky Fingers, they bring up how much Keith, on the song "Brown Sugar", was influenced by Parsons' tuning/chord playing or whatever.

JonG 11-06-2005 09:26 PM

Gram died of an overdose, he was only 26 :\

Then his manager I believe, stole his body and cremated it like he asked.

PinkFreud 11-06-2005 09:27 PM

yeah, they made a movie about it starring johnny knoxville. i heard it was actually supposed to be pretty good.

Badmoon 11-06-2005 09:46 PM

Yea, Grand Theft Parsons, or something.

GP is a terrific album.

Leper 11-07-2005 01:09 AM

Gram Parsons, yet another artist first heard about on MX for me.

I'll have to look into him now, thanks a lot.:p

BlackDeathMetalJazz or really ANYTHING else please- 11-07-2005 07:22 AM

Ry Cooder - Paradise and Lunch

On the Concert For Bangladesh album there is a version of "It Don't Come Easy" played by Ringo and George. Does anybody know if other bands have released versions of this song? I recognize it, but I'm not sure from where.

On that note, does anybody have Concert For Bangladesh (I can't find the rest of the album), Concert For George, and/or Paul McCartney - McCartney (the 1970 release)? I'm having trouble finding these on soulseek and torrent sites. I'd be happy to trade some things:

magicbus 11-07-2005 02:32 PM

Broken Arrow 11-07-2005 05:30 PM

Sweetheart of the Rodeo is the only GP material I have.

It's okay.

Badmoon 11-07-2005 05:38 PM

^I like it.

He was a big influence of Uncle Tupelo and even Wilco. Speaking of Uncle Tupelo, any of you into No Depression yet? I sent it awhile ago.

I haven't listened to the whole thing yet, but I listened to 3-4 songs and enjoyed them a lot. I have too much new music to listen to it all right away.

Broken Arrow 11-07-2005 05:44 PM

I have it but never listened to it.

Which Wilco album is the one that has a bunch of Woody Guthrie songs that hadnt been released and they wrote melodies for them?

magicbus 11-07-2005 06:03 PM

I'm hooked on Blind Faith. I declare an AIM chat!

NP: Cream - Spoonful (live)
