Man, Hansi looks like a hobo in that...

You gotta love how Oilberch (spelling) hasn't bothered to change his guitar in the longest time...

Stoic 08-07-2006 10:14 AM

haha I noticed :p

What's a hobo?

Shattered_Future 08-07-2006 10:23 AM

Hobo, bum, urban explorer, whatever. The homeless people living on the streets of cities.

sensitiveorgan00 08-07-2006 11:20 AM
You guys see this yet? http://youtube.com/watch?v=wAs062wmGpo

New misic vidoe from Blind Guardian. Gawd I love Hansi.
That is such a ****ty song.

Steerpike 08-07-2006 11:21 AM

I wouldn't know about any of this. Apparently, YouTube and my computer have a vendetta against one another.

Brew 08-07-2006 04:21 PM

Hey thread

Does anyone in here like Nocturnal Rites? I picked up their Shadowland album the other day, mainly because I had £6 to spare and its got a great cover...it didn't really blow me away or anything, but for a PM album it was pretty solid.

Nepenthe 08-07-2006 04:25 PM

Nocturnal Rites are almost too solid for their own good. It's very good stuff, but they just never seem to do anything extraordinary, or out of the norm.

Steerpike 08-07-2006 07:40 PM

They're okay. Not really burning up my wishlist, but still cool.

EDIT

Just finished the first song for my Urban Arcana series. I might make an EP out of this if I can ever get a band together. Might even do the vocals myself if I can get a teacher.

The title is The Veil of Shadow.

Teeming crowds and neon signs
Seething masses unaware
Roaming streets and alleyways
A world of danger everywhere

What you don't know is very real
A flash of movement, flash of steel

Visions that you dream about
Tales of creatures now unknown
Storybook and rhyme shall tell
Our population's not alone

The ancient dream world comes alive
They're now looking to survive

Veil of Shadow
A tide between worlds
Bringing forth the stuff of all our dreams
Veil of Shadow

Broadswords swapped for Glock 19s
Sorcery on the internet
Monsters in society
Spirits moving the planchette

The fog and darkness leave behind
A visitor of Shadowkind

Veil of Shadow
A tide between worlds
Bringing forth the horrors from our dreams
Veil of Shadow

Luck to those gifted and cursed with sight beyond ours
If you can see the magic, then it can see you back

Veil of Shadow
A tide between worlds
Bringing forth the stuff of all our dreams
Veil of Shadow

Veil of Shadow
A tide beyond worlds
Bringing forth the mysteries of our dreams
Veil of Shadow

(spoken)
I do not know how I came to be here. All I can say is that I am here now. That is enough.

I thought it was all very good, except for this one verse. I'm not sure, it just doesn't fit very well.

Steerpike 08-08-2006 12:03 AM

Huh. I kind of liked the imagery in that one. Anybody else?

Quiksilver26 08-08-2006 02:01 AM

Awesome, i really liked those. Didn't even have to go on endlessly about dragons and castles :p
I can kind of see how that verse would not fit.. it's a bit more.. specific I guess, for lack of a better term, than the rest. Still think it's a good verse though.

Lord Abortion 08-08-2006 11:15 AM

I got Dreamscape and Visions of Europe by Stratovarius for cheap when I was in Rome, 20 Euros for both, that's about £16 in non-Monopoly money.

Iron Bars 08-08-2006 12:55 PM
Huh. I kind of liked the imagery in that one. Anybody else?
If the music is half as good as the lyrics the imagery should be fine. I wish there were more powermetal fans around here so I could play in a pm band (or thet the pm fans I know could play guitar).

Steerpike 08-08-2006 05:43 PM

I'd like to show you guys the music I've worked out thus far, but ever since tab code was disabled, it's been a little difficult.

Slapping Penguin 08-10-2006 07:31 PM

I had my first Gamma ray experience last night, Somewhere out in Space. Awesome is all I can say!

Nepenthe 08-10-2006 07:34 PM
Huh. I kind of liked the imagery in that one. Anybody else?
I just thought that the rest of the song had a serious tone about it, and that one had a much more typical, cheesy power metal sound to it, the first three lines in particular.

Riva 08-10-2006 09:15 PM

Well, my amazon order arrived while the internet was down. Among other albums, I got:

Dungeon - A Rise To Power (with the European man-beast cover)
Falconer - Sceptre of Deception
Savatage - Edge Of Thorns

I was very chuffed, as you can imagine.

Apocalyptic Raids 08-11-2006 02:50 AM
(with the European man-beast cover)
haha, the poo monster!

Jason, go back a few pages and I posted a sample of the new Dungeon.

Steerpike 08-11-2006 07:40 PM

Okay I just finished writing the music for The Veil of Shadow. Solo still needs some work, and since it's all GuitarPro midi, the mixing and sound in some parts is kind of balls.

But if anybody wants to take a look at it, I'd appreciate it. None of my metalhead friends are currently local.

I'm interested to hear it.

Lord Abortion 08-12-2006 09:35 AM

Gamma Ray are great and very underrated.

I have been listening to Shadowland by Nocturnal Rites a hell of alot recently.

Superb album.

I wantz to hear. I love GP4/5 midis.

Trev 08-12-2006 02:38 PM

So, anyone heard the new Rhapsody (of Fire) album, Triumph or Agony?

Deth 08-12-2006 03:27 PM

No, and I really want to.

Quiksilver26 08-12-2006 06:39 PM

My friend sent it to me the other day... It's not a bad album, just really not what I was expecting. I'd rather it lose a good deal of its symphonic qualities and replace them with some more power metal qualities. The Mystic Prophecy Of The Demon Knight kicks *** though.

Tyr 08-12-2006 07:44 PM

The Mystic Prophecy of the Demon Knight is awesome and I think the album as a whole is good, too. Maybe not as good as their best albums, but good nonetheless.

Stormrider 08-12-2006 07:58 PM

I'm seeing Dragonforce on monday !

Wasn't expecting that on vacation haha.

NP Blind Guardian - Noldor

Shattered_Future 08-13-2006 12:54 AM

Lucky bastard...Dragonforce is playing the EXACT SAME DAY here as the day we got tickets for Gigantour. I'm not sure which is better...

The one thing I don't like about Rhapsody is, aside from certain songs with memorable moments, they really are quite interchangeable.

pate 08-13-2006 01:23 AM

Interchangable but enjoyable is how I describe them.

Slapping Penguin 08-13-2006 02:59 AM

God Riva you always come up with the best avatars. Seriously I remember that cartoon now. LOL!

Apocalyptic Raids 08-13-2006 03:03 AM

Don't you open that trapdoor!

Slapping Penguin 08-13-2006 07:05 AM

Cause there's something down their ahh.
Burp!

Haha thats was the best. Mmm memorys
Interchangable but enjoyable is how I describe them.
Yeah, and all their song titles kick poontang.

NP: Blind Guardian - Time Stands Still at the I-rawn Hill (Live)

Have to love Hansi's accent.

Stoic 08-13-2006 04:01 PM

When he talk or when he sings?

Shattered_Future 08-13-2006 04:07 PM

When he sings, his accent rears its ugly head once in a while.

Stoic 08-13-2006 04:09 PM

In old albums mostly.

The bards and their songssss

Shattered_Future 08-13-2006 04:11 PM

*people will shoot me* I never really saw what was so good about The Bard's Song.
