Mr Observations 07-26-2005 03:26 PM

HBC are a cool sounding band. I like them.

I listened to dEUS and Husker Du today. It was good stuff, much like donuts (with added sugar ofcourse).

I think New day Rising is my favorite Husker Du album now.

Oh, and about Neu!, well they're good, but i think of them as a poor man's Can.

Iai 07-26-2005 03:30 PM

Well, there's some great moments on that album (first 4 minutes of Negativland, for instance). It's just not consistent enough.

But I prefer Can. And Amon Duul II, who get nowhere near enough love here.

Mr Observations 07-26-2005 03:38 PM

Yeah, i do like Neu, but yeah Can are much better, i think.

I'll check out Amon Duul II, who i've never heard before. i also need to look up Faust, another Kraut band.

Iai 07-26-2005 03:44 PM

Yeah, I need to check out Faust too.

Back on topic - I just downloaded all the B-sides from Gentlemen, coz I'm a fanboy like that. There's some interesting stuff, but nothing too special.

Oh, and I'm giving the DJ Muggs solo record another chance. It's better than I remember it being. And I just realized - not only does Greg Dulli guest on it, but it's on a remix of my favourite Twilight Singers song.

Little Man being Erased 07-26-2005 03:48 PM
I'm diggin Beck's Guero, it's better than i first thought, it's real cool.
Same here.

Also dug Ziggy Stardust last night.

Dog 07-26-2005 04:00 PM
Oh, and about Neu!, well they're good, but i think of them as a poor man's Can.
Haha, true. I like a couple of Neu! albums but Can is way better

Zappa 07-26-2005 04:01 PM

Yes, Nothing Lasts...But Nothing is Lost is great.

Iai 07-26-2005 04:02 PM

Knew you'd love it. :)

Little Man being Erased 07-26-2005 04:44 PM

I just listened to some songs by 20 Minute Loop and Clap Your Hands Say Yeah and I love them both.

The Suicide S/T is money my friend.

DogInTheBanned 07-26-2005 07:57 PM

Indeed it is. Both of their S/T's are, in fact.

The NPC 07-26-2005 08:03 PM
Indeed it is. Both of their S/T's are, in fact.
Tis true.

6Stringer 07-26-2005 09:42 PM

I just bought Death From Above 1979 - You're A Woman, I'm A Machine today, I'm really digging it a lot.

Zappa 07-26-2005 10:13 PM

Suicide - Suicide
I listened to this one once and decided it was trashbin material.

DogInTheBanned 07-26-2005 10:18 PM
I listened to this one once and decided it was trashbin material.
I'd give it a relatively high rating, probably 4/5. To each his own, I guess.

Since my last post I've been digging Slint's Spiderland.

Zappa 07-26-2005 10:22 PM

Now there's a record I can sink my teeth and angsty face into!

Zappa 07-26-2005 10:45 PM

I'm listening to Nevermind for I guess the first time. Thought I'd played it before, but now it seems that's not true. I always hated In Utero, but this record seems to at least mildly rock and also seems to suck very rarely if at all.

DogInTheBanned 07-26-2005 10:56 PM

Nevermind and In Utero don't do it for me. I guess I need to check out Bleach(I don' know why I haven't yet, seeing as it seems to get a pretty good amount of praise around here).

vemz 07-26-2005 11:49 PM

I've never heard Nevermind in my life and I intend to keep it that way.

asymm 07-27-2005 12:04 AM

I'm hearing the Suicide debut for the first time... and I'm really enjoying it. It sounds drastically different than what I imagined it would. If you were to blind buy this in a record shop simply basing the decision on the cover art, you'd be bewildered at it's subtlety and starkness.

YDload 07-27-2005 12:25 AM
I've never heard Nevermind in my life and I intend to keep it that way.
Yeah, I've probably heard over half the album already thanks to my stupid modern rock radio station, so I'm not in the market for the real deal.

Anyway, The Fall of Troy is a neat band. Too bad they have to be on the Warped Tour with Fall Out Boy, which is similarly named but not at all as talented (except at getting mass appeal I guess). But it would be quite a tough crowd if TFoT were to be called onstage at Warped by an emcee with a malfunctioning mic:

"And now, please welcome to the stage *zzzt* Fall O*zzzzzz*Oy!"

Oo, that would be interesting.

br3ad_man 07-27-2005 12:41 AM

Fall of Troy are cool.

asymm 07-27-2005 12:44 AM

Early today I was digging New Order - Power, Corruption, & Lies. Fantastic.

vemz 07-27-2005 12:48 AM

Fall of Troy and He is Legend are playing a "local" venue for $8.

Don't lie.

I'm still in awe of Roman Candle.

And I think I always will be because it's such a **** good cd.

Iai 07-27-2005 06:03 AM

I hate Nevermind pretty intensely. I really like what I know of In Utero though. In fact, Heart Shaped Box is right up there with my favourite songs of all time.

Daggage -

LCD Soundsystem - LCD Soundsystem (2.5/5 - bitterly disappointed with this one)
Cursive - The Ugly Organ (4/5)
Devin Davis - Lonely People Of The World, Unite! (3.5/5, will probably become a 4 after a couple more listens)
The Afghan Whigs - Gentlemen: The B-Sides (3/5)

Electrocution 07-27-2005 09:18 AM

Hangedup
Fly Pan Am
A Silver Mount Zion

Iai 07-27-2005 11:47 AM

Spiritualized - Ladies & Gentlemen We Are Floating In Space (3.5/5)

Had this for ages and never actually listened to it until just now. Weird.

Luxor 07-27-2005 12:20 PM

That new Coheed single is so good. I'm looking forward to the new album.

Aeaon 07-27-2005 12:35 PM

I've recently been downloading some more Smiths songs. Good stuff.

The new Stellastarr is ace.

Pere Ubu. I think I missed it the first time I listened.
