Sounds like Friday. But I still don't know what it is.

Badmoon 09-14-2004 07:27 PM

^Look at some of the previous pages.

Lets do it Friday.
Do you like vinyl more? Or just you just have a better selection?
Pfft, everyone likes vinyl more. It sounds better.

I, and my parents have at least 1000 records. Though a lot of it is my moms and I don't like it. But there's plenty of good stuff there.

BludgeonySteve 09-14-2004 07:34 PM
If I could put Viynl onto My computer, that would be bitchin'
There's actually a way to do it. But I don't know how.

magicbus 09-14-2004 07:37 PM

My dad has recorded his vinyl onto cds before, because or cd burner and record player are all hooked up through the same stereo and everything.
Did you download "Mama Tried"? What are your thoughts?
No I had to sign off before I got to see your recomendations. Ill listen to it right now.

Against Miik! 09-14-2004 07:53 PM

O.k. I got it. I've honestly never listen to a lot of Grateful Dead before. It's more folksy than I excpected. Good stuff though :thumb:

Badmoon 09-14-2004 07:55 PM

Me & My Uncle and Mama Tried are both Folk songs they covered. They're my favorite live Dead songs.

BludgeonySteve 09-14-2004 07:56 PM

Live dead, Oxymoron :D

Badmoon 09-14-2004 08:00 PM

:p

I prefer s/t (Skull and Roses) which is all live.

Against Miik! 09-14-2004 08:06 PM

No matter what band you throw at me, I will never love any band as much as the Allmans.

*Listens to One Way Out*

RockAndRoll 09-14-2004 08:23 PM

I have band pracitice friday! :( but it's not as though it matters since i don't have AIM! :P. Anyone have msn here? I'd really like to send a few people some stuff for critiquing...

Go chex 09-14-2004 09:39 PM

Im suprised no one had mentioned anything about Yngwie Malmsteen. If someone did then sorry... but i must say, the man is insane with a guitar even with his huge ego. At a concert he was playing van halen's eruption and in the middle, stopped and yawned, then continued. the man is just wild...

So yawning mid song is the mark of a good guitarist, I knew my playing needing something, and know I have found it.

iBENezrocker 09-15-2004 07:21 AM

Hell Yeh!!

I have been listening to Led Zep for about 2yrs now, recently to find Black Sabbath (i was born to Changes :thumb: ), Stone roses, Guns N' roses and so on. Sure beats the hell out of three chorded pop 'punk'. Its these old bands that have influenced the newer bands. Led Zeppelin all the way

That's because

a) He has an ego the size of a small country
b) He doesn't write anything other than blisteringly fast monotonous wank-fests, so no wonder he was covering Eddie
c) I'd rather listen to Vai, Becker, Satriani, Cooley, Gilbert, or pretty much any half-decent modern guitarist or virtuoso before being subjected to Yngwies technical wankery.
There's actually a way to do it. But I don't know how.
Easy...

I run one of my turntables into my mixer, run the line out from the mixer to the line in on my soundcard, and just record using Soundforge or Cool Edit Pro or something. There are plug-ins to reduce pops/hiss if it bothers you. Otherwise you just have to make sure you're recording at the right level. I'd probably normalize the sound after it was done recording, too. You don't have to use a mixer, just have the right connection to get the RCA from the turntable to the right connection on your sound card. Although it's probably better to run it through a mixer first. I have tech 12's so they have a ground I need to connect to the mixer. Plus the mixer has a little EQ so I can clean it up slightly if it sounds too muddy.

Make sure you have decent needles and cartridges on the player too, it will greatly affect the sound.
I used to record my DJ set's on the computer this way.

Paranoidd 09-15-2004 11:42 AM

Did you hear about the airplane incident?

Some stewardess wouldn't give him a drink or something, so he stood up screaming "You've unleashed the fury!!!"

You've. Unleashed. The. Fury.

I thought it was a joke, but my sources were confirmed. The funniest thing I've heard in months.

Paranoidd 09-15-2004 11:49 AM

Bah, Superpeer cleared out the non-music thread by talking about Limp Bizkit. He can't criticize

Malmsteen was in a band...starts with an S. Can't remember the name...

Paranoidd 09-15-2004 01:49 PM

Where the F is everyone?

Broken Arrow 09-15-2004 02:01 PM

It is a cool song.

SeekAndDestroy 09-15-2004 03:34 PM

The kids these days are all listening to the "famous" or "signature" songs of the real popular bands. Kind of a p*** off if you ask me. They wont get into the real deep stuff. Just as an example, If i say Stairway to Heaven, or Whole Lotta Love, they're all over it. BUT, if I say something like Dazed and Confused or Kashmir, they haven't a clue. All they know is the "Big Names" like Zepp and Hendrix. Even then, they dont know the really good ones. Probably the worst for it is AC/DC. All they know is the Brian Johnson era songs. None of them know the really good Bon Scott songs, Personally, I'm into Neil Young, Floyd (NOT ECHOES!) even Boston now and then. I'm all for Zeppelin, but noone really knows the good ones, the ones put by the wayside. I say they put rock history in todays schools. Just have them listen to a Fleetwood Mac album for an hour or two so that they REALLY know what Classic Rock is like.

JonG 09-15-2004 03:35 PM

I like Zeppelin and have listened to all their albums.
I'm over the main songs(too overplayed),
I like Over The Hills And Far Away, Living Loving Maid, Bring It On Home and The Battle of Evermore..

btw im 14.

Paranoidd 09-15-2004 03:36 PM

Seek and destroy, when you're done being condescending, mind telling me what's wrong with Echoes?

SeekAndDestroy 09-15-2004 03:37 PM

I guess I shouldve put in my faves:
Lou Reed: Take a Walk on the Wild Side
Supertramp
Neil Young (CSNY, Buffalo Springfield, etc.)
Rush
Fleetwood Mac
AC/DC (Bon Scott era)

Paranoidd 09-15-2004 03:38 PM

Jeez, whenever someone mentions Lou Reed, ALL they know is "Take a Walk on the Wildside".....

Broken Arrow 09-15-2004 03:53 PM

Yeah Ive noticed that to.^

Yeah Signs is the only song I've heard from them.To RockandRoll

BludgeonySteve 09-15-2004 04:19 PM

Everyone has the Zeppelin shirt that I do. It annoys me because none of them know of my than 5 of their songs.

*rantness*

The Deep Purple show was great. Too many kids who when you asked them to name some of Deep Purple's songs they only responded "smoke on the water".

Broken Arrow 09-15-2004 04:37 PM

It was a great show eh? Are you also seeing Van Halen???

BludgeonySteve 09-15-2004 04:39 PM

$120 for a bunch of burned out, doped up sammy hagar song playing hacks? I'd rather just listen to their albums.
