Can i split my internet connection into 2 so that 2 people can be on it at the same time?
Yes? What do you think routers are for? At the moment, my neighbour is bumming off my connection. |
oh yeah that too
|
i have 2 laptops. One for my sister and one for me.
But one internet connection. Im sending the wireless **** back because i cant be doing with all the messing around and disconnecting crap so im probably gonna buy a 30m cable so i can sit in my room. But my sister usually wants to be doing her work or something when i want to be on the net so i want to split the connection into 2......??? Like have a splitter or something? |
or a wireless router.
that would be best. |
i have a wireless router.
I don't want to be wireless. It's GHEY. I just want to have a little modem and 2 wires coming out of it. one for my s ister and one for myself. |
um
then you're weird. |
Pure: If you're with TalkTalk, do you not have an EchoLife HG520s?
Most ISPs will give you a wireless router when you register with them. This will be connected to a power outlet, the primary phoneline via a microfilter, and up to four computers can connect to the router via ethernet, otherwise you can connect any number of wireless networking cards as long as the wireless network is set up correctly. This shouldn't be a problem as with WinXP the settings are configured automatically. Make sure you run the setup disc that came with your router as well. With some routers you will need to have at least one computer connected via ethernet for the wireless signals to operate normally. |
lol you just summed up everything i have. Nice one :)
Yet the wireless doesnt work :| The router didnt come with a wireless adapter so i went out and bought a belkin one. http://www.belkin.com/support/article/?lid=en&pid=F5D9050&aid=5925&scid=223 This one. Ive tried resetting the router reinstalling the adapdter. running the cd and stuff but it the two just wont connect. |
mine took 4 hours to set up
|
lol yesterday i was trying for 7 hours.

You really need to be persistent. You have every right to threaten them with leaving their service and moving to one of their competitors.
Call customer services and request a technician be sent to your home. If you don't feel confident enough to give orders, have your father do it. Alternatively, if you have money, hire a remote assistant in India and have him/her arrange that for you. Remote assistants can be hired from around £2 p/h if you deal with the right agency e.g http://www.yourmaninindia.com Hope my advice helps. |
I was trying to get through this morning to there wireless network helpers but i was on the phone listening to the same music for 25 mins straight...

wireless routers are fun!
First, the router needs to be on and connected to your internet. Then, if you're on a Mac, it's easy as hell, just go System Preferences -> Network -> AirPort, select your router (it probably says default or something similar) and then go to http://192.168.2.1/ which should be your router's page. if you're on a poopty windows, you need to go Start -> Control Panel -> whatever says Networking. Your laptop manufacturer (especially dell and HP notebooks) have their own software interface on top of windows, and sometimes the wireless card itself then has its own interface. Pick it and then select your router and then go to http://192.168.2.1/. although that particular Belkin product isn't a wireless router at all, just a signal amplifier. (http://catalog.belkin.com/IWCatProductPage.process?Product_Id=272959) what you need is a router, like this: (http://catalog.belkin.com/IWCatProductPage.process?Product_Id=203415) |

i dunno how i missed the epic lulz anonymous have been generating the past couple of weeks |
I bought and installed a Belkin wireless router in my house last month. It's easy to do, and is a great benefit. We've got a PS3 which has a wireless receiver built in, so now we can do all of our gaming downloads without having to stretch a cable across the room. Plus any laptop will work with it.
Edit: oops, it's a Linksys router. |
Whoever produced Will.I.Am's 'I Got It From My Mama', tried to steal the bell pattern from Missy Elliott's 'Work It', but didn't do it very well haha.
