I dont mind the music behind Janis but Janis's voice is borderline on awful in my opinion.

I've got like 4 version's of Call it Stormy Monday on my computer including 'Ol T-Bone's.
bjschyma@hotmail.com
I'll send you a few other Montgomery albums too.

Big Brother and the Holding Company is excellent. Janis's voice can be borderline unlistenable sometimes. Sometimes I just try to block the vocals out, but sometimes I feel that her voice adds a lot to the music. She does have great power. In terms of female vocalists, Grace Slick completely owns her though.

Dorothy Moskowitz of United States of America completely owns Grace Slick. ;)

Illmatic 11-05-2005 08:33 PM

Geddy Lee owns them both as far as female vocalists go

just kidding, of course.

magicbus 11-05-2005 08:33 PM

I don't like Janis Joplin.

Does anybody have anything by the Traveling Wilburies, and are they good?

I have both their cds. The first one is amazing. Then Orbison died 2 weeks after it was released:(

The second cd is inconsistent without him and not nearly as good. Still good, but not like the first one. I can upload them both, probably tomorrow if you want.

np- Badfinger- Carry On Till Tomorrow

I love Joplin's voice. Just the power, the strength, and the ruff bluesy edge to it all. Grace Slick can't even touch her.

Seafroggys 11-05-2005 10:14 PM

Holy mother of god I saw Paul last night!

With the exception that we were much farther away than last time I saw him, and for the fact that it was the first time I saw Paul (Back in the US tour, 02) this was better. THe songlist was better, he finally has better hair (short hair? please), and **** man they did Helter Skelter, which is the ultimate rock 'n roll live song. I've been wanting him to do that song live for years.

Oh another reason why the first concert was ebtter is because I didn't know the setlist at all. I saw the setlist several weeks ago, but even though I didn't remember much of it, I noted the biggest details (like opening with MMT, him doing Helter Skelter, the Foxey Lady ending thing). Surprise is fun, especially when its Paul.

**** it was awesome. My voice was dead last night and this mornig.

magicbus 11-05-2005 10:34 PM

Has anybody heard the Remastered version of Blind Faith? It has a bunch of extra recorded jams on it. I'm wondering if it's worth getting.

thickasabrick 11-06-2005 12:35 AM

Seafroggys, I envy you. Very, very, very much. That sounds like an amazing show.

ive heard that theyre not much special. i lost my actual cd somewhere. like, i have it on my computer, but the physical cd is lost. which disturbs me because i cant stand missing a cd that i have owned previously and so everntually, im going to buy it again, and then probably find the original.

im unfortunate like that.

Lunch 11-06-2005 08:34 AM

The Blind Faith Deluxe CD is only like $20 at a record shop near me, so I might consider getting it.

DeusExMachina 11-06-2005 09:42 AM

We are such album hos

Grace > Janis, IMO
My sister said I sound like her when I was singing "Somebody to Love", which would be awesome, I'll have to get another opinion tomorrow

Congradulations, Seafroggies- I was so freaked out when he played Helter Skelter, too, it was just awesome

jpj 11-06-2005 04:31 PM

Yea, Grace blows Janis out of the water.

Broken Arrow 11-06-2005 04:32 PM

From what I've heard its pretty aweful...

Against Miik! 11-06-2005 05:46 PM

We don't have enough Steely Dan discussions.

jpj 11-06-2005 05:51 PM

Steely Dan is either really good or really bad. My dad is a big fan, so I've been listening to them my whole life. Josie, Peg, Kid Charlemagne, Dirty Work, and Bodhisatva (sp?) are all great songs.
