Well, what were you going to say?
I apologize for jumping to conclusions :-\ |
Well, what were you going to say?
I apologize for jumping to conclusions :-\
I was gonna say that your list has a better genre range than anyones. As in you have Jazz, Funk and Reggae instead of just basing yours in rock. I noticed that mine is mostly all rock in the late 60's early 70's. (pretty samll difference). Edit-I guess Schmya had a pretty big range too. |

Edit-I guess Schmya had a pretty big range too.
Oh, yeah, that too. There were a lot of rock bands from the 1960's and 1970's that I would like to see, but overall I'd take those eleven over the rest. edit: and I still feel pretty bad for putting words in your mouth |
It's okay.
Now that I think of it I could put Charles Mingus on my list, I think he's my favourite jazz artist. I really like Herbie Hancock too but I havent really heard enough of his music to have him on my list. I also noticed how you took the jazzier/funkier Band of Gypsies over the Experience too. That probably my second favourite Hendrix line up next to Mitchell/Cox. Redding was good but Cox is defienlty better. |
Cox was a big step up from Redding, I think, and I still prefer Buddy Miles to Mitch Mitchell.
Another thing that went into that is that I've never heard any live Experience material, but I have heard Band of Gypsies, which is fantastic. |
That's the spirit :p
|
The live stuff and some studio stuff with Cox/Mitchell is some of my favourite.
Live at Berkley and Woodstock are some of my favourite preformances, althoguh at Woodstock they also had Larry Lee, and those too percussion players. You can't really hear them in the mix anyways. |
I have the Woodstock album and I really can't get into it, partially because the sound quality is subpar and partially because the setlist was kinda "meh"
|
I dont have the album, I only have the new DVD and the sound isn't too bad. Also the DVD has some unrealised stuff that wasnt on the CD I think.
I really like watching him play "Red House" on it. |

Way late, but I like Django I have one of his CD's he's great but I'm never really in the mood to listen to him. He's a mood guy for me I have to be in the perfect mood, usually when I want guitar thats a mix between Ry Cooder and someone like Jeff Beck.
My list for Bands live! 1. Jane's Addiction 2. The Stones (3 different times, 65', '69, '75) 3. The Who 4. NWA 5. AFI 6. Interpol 7. Joy Division 8. Dead Kennedys 9. David Bowie/Iggy Pop 10.U2/Madonna All preferably at small clubs except Madonna, U2 and AFI I couldn't cut some guys out so I had to do some "/'s" |
U2 is great live :) I like the way Bono talks to the crowd
and soon I'm gonna see an other classic rock band Deep Purple :) |
List is late, but in no particular order...
Pink Floyd Explosions in the Sky Godspeed You! Black Emperor Yefim Bronfman (Even though I've already seen him! ) Jimi Hendrix Nick Drake Pierre Fournier/Yoyo Ma (I've seen Yoyo Ma live too... it was amazing) John Coltrane Morcheeba Joe Pass If I'm not allowed to do classical performers, I'll replace Yefim Bronfman with Muddy Waters or BB King, and Pierre Fournier/Yoyo Ma with Elvis Costello/Van Morrison. |
GY!BE would be awesome live.
|
I can't get into GY!BE, or any post-rock really.
I got Beck Bogert & Appice today, and I really like it. I think Tim Bogert is comparable to Jack Bruce, he really doesn't get enough recognition. And I almost got the live album with McLaughlin, De Lucia, and Di Meola too, but I didn't have enough money. EDIT: That Who DVD looks cool, I started listening to Quadrophenia yesterday and so far I like it better than any other of their stuff. |
Edit-I guess Schmya had a pretty big range too.
I was going to pick Elvis, Bela Fleck and maybe Funkadelic but decided that Hendrix, McLaughlin and QMS would be more important. :-/
9. buddy guy (late 60's)
Have you watched Festival Express? He was sloppy as hell. It looks like he's in his prime right now. I could possibly trip on LSD tomorrow morning....hope I get it. :D |
He was probably sloppy because he was probably wasted. Did you see how much booze was consumed by that train?
|
You're probablly right....Grateful Dead's set owned.
|
Oh man, I loved "Cumberland Blues" the most. That is a great overall movie.
I'm I the only one who cannot stand Janis Joplin? |
I'm I the only one who cannot stand Janis Joplin?
your not the only one, i cant really stand it a whole lot either. my dad likes her music but it never grew on me... |
Oh...you're not the only one. She looks like a man....Robert Plant and Janis Joplin would look like male cross dressers together.
|
I'm I the only one who cannot stand Janis Joplin?
I don't like her much. |
