They have funny videos too. Does anyone know if there's a site that has a downloadable version of JFK: Reloaded? It looks awesome, but the slightly confuzzled sea lionassed company that made it took it off the net after some light pressure from Ted Kennedy.
So... Why am I not banned yet?

coheneran 11-28-2005 06:32 PM

Hurrah! I finished the short story for my coursework. It's coursework (ie. I get marks for it in the overall marks, so it's rather important), so would you guys mind giving some constructive criticism? There's no one more critical than a music snob:P.

Corrupt Officials

Pyotr lived in a farm, a quasi-anarchist commune in Essex. The revolutionary community, Rolling Hedgehog, was made up of extremist environmentalists and anarchists, and had adopted the Native American tribal system and traditions. However, being anarchists, they had to toy around with it. For example, instead of a chieftain with ultimate say in the community’s affairs, they held consensus meetings. The Chief’s job was to keep relative order and chair these meetings. They had also adopted many Native American traditions. For example, a child was named after a revolutionary, until the community decided he was mature enough to go on a spirit quest and find his real name. This was different for every child, but usually it happened between the age of twelve and seventeen. Pyotr was fourteen when he requested permission to set out on a spirit quest. The community debated this for three days and finally came to a conclusion that Pyotr had matured enough to find a name.
On the day the hedgehogs came out of hibernation, several weeks after the community’s decision, Pyotr had set out. He had packed on his own, stuffing his hemp bag with food, clothes and various miscellaneous items such as a blade his father had crafted him and a pad of paper and pencils. He walked the three miles to the nearest road and hitchhiked to the nearest city, Colchester. On a spirit quest, every child was given a job, something to achieve. The hunting season was soon beginning, and Pyotr’s job was to spread the word on the cruelty of the hunt, which was witnessed by the Rolling Hedgehog community every year. He was to do this by hanging a banner over the local Countryside Alliance’s centre. The banner he had prepared with the help of members of Rolling Hedgehog, was a long white one, four feet wide, with the words, “The Countryside Alliance: When They’re Not Shagging Sheep, They’re Killing Foxes.” A friend of his, the son of a former Class War member, showed him a sticker with these words.

* * * * *

Pyotr reached the Countryside Alliance and walked around it a few times, staying hidden from view whenever it was possible. He needed to get onto the roof, but a tubby constable was guarding the metal fire escape, with the fire door underneath it. Pyotr rummaged in his pack until he felt a piece of leather. He pulled out a sling, picked up a stone and set it in the harness, spinning the sling over his crouched diminutive figure. He let go, and the stone sailed through the air, at an angle, aiming towards the corner of the square red-bricked building, where an alley was formed between the building and another. He had aimed well, and the stone bounced between the alley walls a few times, before clattering to the ground. The guard whipped his head in the direction of the noise, and really hurt himself. Rubbing his neck and cursing, he walked over to the alley. Pyotr scrambled out of his hiding place and sprinted towards the wall. He grabbed the bottom of the fire escape and swung himself onto it. The guard returned to his post, looking irritated and still rubbing his sore neck. Pyotr smiled and crept up the fire escape, his soft moccasins making no noise on the metal stairs.

* * * * *

At the Countryside Alliance, a secret meeting was taking place. The secret participants of this secret meeting were none other than the local Chief of Police, Perry Coggs Keen, the Mayoress of Colchester, Lady May Irvine, and the local Countryside Alliance’s chairman, John Smith.
“We will NOT sit down and let you uproot Abbot Forest. It is an ancient forest and one of the largest around.” Said Smith.
“Well, how about this.” Lady Irvine suggested. “You keep quiet about the logging, and we will provide police retaliation to the Rolling Hedgehog activists during hunting season.”
“I don’t really think we need police protec-—”
Lady Irvine cut in. “How long since your last family holiday John? Ever been to Egypt? Delightful place, wonderful sunsets. How about I arrange a ‘state visit’ for you and your family?”
“Well, when you put it like that—”
“Good. You may leave.” Smith left, shutting the door behind him. They listened to his fading footsteps and continued. “Keen, you will provide protection? The logging company needs to be assured there will be no-one to interrupt their operations at Abbot Forest.” Lady Irvine inquired.
“We’ll have police presence and a squad of riot police standing by.”
“Excellent. I give you permission to drop a Section 60 on the area. Surround the Rolling Hedgehog encampment early and make sure nobody gets out. The logging company will begin its work at midday tomorrow.”
“Yes ma’am. What if something goes wrong? What if they get out?”
“You make sure that they don’t!” She exclaimed, slamming her briefcase shut.
Lady May Irvine left the room, and Police Chief Keen breathed deeply. He despised the woman. He turned to look outside, at the car park. A face suddenly pulled out of view, and he froze. He heard the sound of soft footsteps running down the fire escape, and spun around, running through the door and turning on his mobile phone.

* * * * *

Corrupt Officials ran down the fire escape, jumped down and ran past the startled guard, not believing what he had just heard. Sprinting across the parking lot, he ran down the street and stopped a cab.
“Do you know the Rolling Hedgehog farm?” He asked the driver.
“Next to Abbot Forest? Sure.”
“Take me there!” Corrupt Officials said hurriedly, dropping a fifty-pound note in the front seat. “Fast!”

That's the end of it. The story is meant to have "emotional drama", so I left it hanging, rather crudely. I'm reading Robert Rankin right now, so you can sense the influence. Thanks.
HOLY SHI'ITE! Does the entertainment industry consider NOTHING sacred? Fair enough, Narnia movies usually turn out great, but a Narnia VIDEO GAME!? That's desecrating a British artefact! A great human achievement! It's like making a video game out of Macbeth!
Narnia was a s'hitty book series and will make a ****tier movie.

coheneran 11-28-2005 06:41 PM

The Narnia books were awesome.

coheneran 11-28-2005 06:44 PM

You're meant to read them in order dufii. The Magician's Nephew is the first one.

RetiredAt21 11-28-2005 06:44 PM

Yeah, those Narnia books blew hard. They didn't make any sense, and they were boring as s'hit.

coheneran 11-28-2005 06:46 PM

You guys suck! They owned!

coheneran 11-28-2005 06:48 PM

The Voyage of the Dawntreader is probably the best one.

AIRIC 11-28-2005 06:49 PM

I read them but I don't remember them.

TAND 11-28-2005 07:03 PM

I never bothered to read them.

I never read the books, but the movie looks kinda cool, though maybe a bit too kiddy.
Narnia was a s'hitty book series and will make a ****tier movie.
Narnia was a ****ty book, but I think the movie looks pretty good.

Other good movies coming out: King Kong, and on other that I remember thinking looks good, but I can't remember what it is.

Anarcho Poser 11-28-2005 07:11 PM

Aeon Flux looks like it might be vaguely interesting, but it will probably suck.

Brain Toad 11-28-2005 07:11 PM

I have a little box set with all the books. It was a coster for a long time, now it's just shoved in a corner. Piles of novel crap.
Aeon Flux looks like it might be vaguely interesting, but it will probably suck.
That was it. Aeon Flux looks interesting. I don't really know about the whole movie, but it looks interesting. I want to know what's up with the little metal balls, and the grass.

DaveToopes 11-28-2005 07:16 PM

Thrash is wonderful.

Brain Toad 11-28-2005 07:18 PM

I don't bother going to the movies anymore, even when there is something I really want to see, I rarely go. I wanted to see Hitchhiker's Guide but never did, but I did see Episode III. And I want to see Walk the Line, but I don't know if I will in theaters, I hope so.

Charlize Theron alone will not get me to see that.

Mos Def shouldn't've played Ford Prefect and Marvin should've not looked like Pintsize from QC.
