Will you people stop talking about Dream Theater? There's already an official DT thread, so go post it over there. I don't mean to sound like a prick, but it's really off topic.
There hasn't been any Tool news in a LONG while. Forgive us.

Merkaba 04-24-2005 05:32 PM

I cant find my friggin salival cd!

Because there isn't much to talk about Tool-wise, we've all kinda changed this into a Community thread until something Tool related comes up. We've talked about DT, NIN, Deftones and such because most everyone in this thread likes these bands.

Once there's some REAL Tool news, things will be different, but like Sliptallica put it, it's really a Tool fan community rather than just strictly Tool discussion.

Dude, that sucks.

YouGottaBeCrazy 04-24-2005 05:41 PM

Now there's a nice save.

YouGottaBeCrazy 04-24-2005 06:03 PM

thanks haha

Dried Muffin Remnants 04-24-2005 06:03 PM

We can talk about your boy Satch too, if you want. I think his music would fit in the soundtrack of an 80s teen-flick. Anybody else want to add anything?

YouGottaBeCrazy 04-24-2005 06:05 PM

What did everyone think about his latest album, "Is There Love in Space?" I thought it was pretty good, especially the title track.

Dried Muffin Remnants 04-24-2005 06:07 PM

Just kidding, I think everything he's done has been a cheese-fest. But I don't doubt his guitar skills. He's one of the most technically skilled guitarists I've ever heard. I just don't dig the music.

YouGottaBeCrazy 04-24-2005 06:09 PM

I can understand that. I'd rip on Tool or AIC, but I love both so much that I possibly couldnt.

Dr. Jake Destructo 04-24-2005 06:17 PM

This is probably a very big request, but I would really appreciate if someone could upload Salival, minus Third Eye and Push it live, and No Quarter. I have those three, but I would like the rest of Salival, if you could. :D I would heart you forever.

YouGottaBeCrazy 04-24-2005 06:27 PM

I really hate Tool's cover of No Quarter. Just doesn't click with me like the original. Anyone else feel this way?

That albums is WAY too soft for me... I really don't like it.
You guys got me into Dream Theater a little bit again thanks :D

Dried Muffin Remnants 04-24-2005 06:31 PM

I love Led Zep, but I didn't like their original. I like Tool's version a lot more, so I actually love the cover.

Rounder 04-24-2005 06:35 PM
I love Led Zep, but I didn't like their original. I like Tool's version a lot more, so I actually love the cover.
I dont like led zep's version at all. I heard Tool's first, and when I heard the original I was like, meh...

Rounder 04-24-2005 06:40 PM
I can understand that. I'd rip on Tool or AIC, but I love both so much that I possibly couldnt.
I liked surfing with the alien and the extremist. Then I saw him live at G3 with Vai, and Pettrucci. Satch's and Vai's attitude made me want to puke. They act like believe everything theyre told about them being guitar gods. Pettrucci humbled both of them imo. Came out, played his songs, played to the crowd, but vai and satch were masterbating. I had alien love secrets and passion from vai, but I dont listen to those guys much anymore due to that show. Pettrucci pwn.

Huber 04-24-2005 07:28 PM

I was just listening to Satch for the first time. Some cool tunes. I'm sorry to hear about how him and Vai acted at that show though.

I'm starting it now. Not sure if it'll work though, YSI has been gay in the past.

Otherside 04-24-2005 07:39 PM

Satch's Strange and Beautiful Music is my favorite instrumental cd of all time. But that's just me.

Salival, minus Push!t, Third Eye, and No Quarter.

Dr. Jake Destructo 04-24-2005 08:02 PM

I learned the solo from Parabola right now(it's badarse and simple) but the powertab I learned it from has the harmonics all messed up. Could someone tab out, or point me in the direction of a correct tab of the ending? Thanks.

That should work, it sounds good to me.

Dried Muffin Remnants 04-24-2005 08:19 PM

haha, i can do that solo in my sleep. it sounds cool though, i must admit.

Dr. Jake Destructo 04-24-2005 08:35 PM

I know. It took me about 5 minutes to get down everything. (Minus the end, obviously)

Thx JoZ

Up In Flames is a great track. Satch is a very technically skilled guitarist.

And Tool's No Quarter cover rocked.

YouGottaBeCrazy 04-24-2005 08:57 PM
Yes, their cover is great. It's defintely better than Zeppelin's.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

It completely ruins the whole atmosphere of the original.

BlindWriting 04-24-2005 08:58 PM
Yes, their cover is great. It's defintely better than Zeppelin's.
Of course I have you to thank. :D
I must have listened to it ten times the day you YSI'd it.

YouGottaBeCrazy 04-24-2005 09:00 PM
No, it doesn't. It's 10x more powerful than Zeppelin's.

Blind: haha that's right. I forgot I sent that to you. Well. cheers. :chug:
blasphemy!

YouGottaBeCrazy 04-24-2005 09:03 PM
It is not blasphemy. For I am right, and you are teh incorrect.
Don't make me smite you.

Dried Muffin Remnants 04-24-2005 09:05 PM

Again, I LOVE Led Zep. But I thought that the original version of No Quarter was quite mediocre.

The JoZ 04-24-2005 09:15 PM
It is not blasphemy. For I am right, and you are teh incorrect.
You are indeed teh correct.

Tool's Version >> Zep's version.

Magicaltroll 04-24-2005 09:18 PM
Tool's Version >> Zep's version.
Couldn't agree more.

YouGottaBeCrazy 04-24-2005 09:23 PM

Couldn't agree less.

Maynard's vocals sound like crap at times in the song. The original has this aura to it that creates the mystical atmosphere. The Tool version tries to turn it into a very heavy song but it isnt supposed to be. The original has a piano solo to it! It's a mellow song that's very layered musically. There's nothing of the sorts in the Tool version.

Darkness 04-24-2005 09:25 PM

Theres an acoustic guitar in tools, and Maynards vocals sound great in it... very cool style he used... plus I believe the tool one is longer. :D

Dr. Jake Destructo 04-24-2005 09:30 PM
Theres an acoustic guitar in tools, and Maynards vocals sound great in it... very cool style he used... plus I believe the tool one is longer. :D
ITT, it's all about size.

jamesclelland 04-24-2005 09:34 PM

zeppelins version isn't bad. i really really like tool's version though. question though, there are two guitars in one part, does maynard play the acoustic?
tools is about 5 minutes longer. btw.

Huber 04-24-2005 09:35 PM

I'm assuming Adam did both, but I know nothing about that stuff.
