havent listened to Waits in a while. i always go to this album though, think im going to start listening to more of his other albums

I go through phases with Waits. When I'm into him I can't get enough but sometimes I'm just not in the mood.

well Rain Dogs is his best imo and thats where i started. if you want his early album where he doesnt have that gravely voice then go for The Heart of Saturday Night. other albums that are good to start with are probably Swordfishtrombones, Bone Machine, or Alice. if youre liking those albums then get Orphans. is a three disc album and is a lot to digest, but its one of his best. hope that helps, someone might give you a better starting point

Alice and Mule Variations are probably my favorite. I love Rain Dogs as well and it's probably his definitive work, but it doesn't hit me as hard.
