In 2003 I saw Australian Pink Floyd doing Pulse.
It was awesome, they were almost the same. 2 weeks ago, I saw Canadian Pink Floyd. They did all of Dark side of the moon, Animals, Wish you were here and The Wall. Let me tell you, the guitarist was AMAZING. The songs weren't 100% right on obviously but it was mind boggling how good that guy was. There were some places where he added improvised bits of solo, he did it greatly. And finally, when he got to his last song, Comfortably Numb, the crowd went wild to hear him tear his guitar playing that lovely solo. Their show was based on the 1976 Boston Show (i think) I'd have to say that Canadian Pink Floyd was better than Australian Pink Floyd, better than Velvet Revolver. And I have a feeling that the U2 concert im going to won't be as good as Canadian Pink Floyd. Not that those concerts weren't good, they were great. But Canadian Pink Floyd was just orgasmic. |
Just downloaded Dub Side of the Moon...
It's ****ing awesome!! It's just as good as the album itself! What are you waiting for? Go listen to it!
I'll have to agree. I thought it would be cheesy, but I listened to it and kinda went --> :amaze: My dad's stoner buddy brought it over It is just amazing. |
Pulse sort of annoys me sometimes too. It's good, but I don't like it as much as most people here.
|
I'm a little lazy with powertabs, but I will scan the magazine tab in a little bit.
And I also like Atom Heart Mother.
Awesome. Thanks. Riva, I'm definitely up for doing a cover. What song? |

me neither. |
np- High Hopes- from Pulse and it is amazing like the rest of the cd. I don't understand the '80s cheesiness thing, but I think it is close to perfect. Amazing solo. The only song I don't like is Keep Talking, and SOYCD is better in studio IMO.
|
All the fans kind of ruin the music for me, personally. I like Pulse, but I don't like all the screaming fans. Especially during WYWH.
EDIT: What song(s) do we all want to do for the cover thread thing? I'd say that something like Comfortably Numb would be cool. Or WYWH, or SOYCD, or anything else. Whatev. This is all assuming that other people are interested in doing this. |
I actually like the fans. I feel it adds to the environment, but most people hate hearing fans.

I'm thinking:
Wish You Were Here Learning To Fly Something from DSOTM (even GGITS if we can get a female vocalist :P) Goodbye Blue Sky? Something from OBC? |
I definatly lovethe begining of another brick in the wall. It is so creepy, I didnt like listening to it at ngiht for the longest time. Funny story acctually. I was in Colorado and the restraunt I was in played the song and I was singing and my dad asked who plays another brick in the wall...his guess pink floyd and I diagreed considering someone had it on a cd they gave me for xmas. The dispute ended when my dad called a friend and asked. I thought about just how much I sucked at music. Sense then I have definatly made an effort to become more familiar with pink Floyd...but yeah another brick in the wall *thumbs up*

That would be really cool. Wish You Were Here too. Time, maybe? I'm sure there are people on this thread that can play Time way better than I can, but whatev. I'm down with whatever the forum agrees with. Oh, for GGITS, I know some girls who can probably sing it. |
Who's going to be doing bass/drums/keys/etc..?
I'd like to do guitar, but I'm already doing Tool and RAtM covers, and I'm sure the one thing you guys have enough of are guitarists. :p My friend did a cover of See Emily Play that is pretty amazing. It's not like the original. He threw a lot of his own style into the song. I sent it to Riva over msn a huge while back, so Riva, if you have it, you should upload it for the other guys to hear. Technically, it could be in the competition, because the guy is an mxer, and this thread is an official, but he only has like 100 or so posts, and has never posted here. Still, it's really very good. Riva, if you can't find it, I could upload it on my dial up. :D |
If I ever hook up my keyboard right, I could try keyboards, but I have a very basic keyboard. I will also have a go at singing, though I may suit Gilmour better than Waters.
|
I'd like to do a song or two, and I play lead guitar. I really enjoy playing Gilmour's parts, so I'd definently want to do this cover thing. I can sing the middle to high parts, basically like what Gilmour sings.
IM me! I'll try any song, and I already know a bunch. |
You guys should pick one song, and put all your energy into that. If you don't do that, you'll get several people on several different pages. I'm speaking from expierience from the whole internet cover thing. :p It's never good if you plan on doing 4 or 5 songs at once. I'm not saying only do one song, but take it slow to start with. Pick a song, stick with that song. :thumb:

Well, then, it looks like this:
Vocals: Magicbus/Myself Guitar: Ethan/Magicbus Bass: ??? Drums: ??? Keyboards: ??? Sax: Maybe if I can borrow my friends. I gave mine back to the school when I graduated. |
I really want to do the comp, but i cant record on these computers :-/
|
Can you record an acoustic at all, Aaron? You could do Goodbye Blue Sky, and the acoustics on songs like WYWH. :)
*wants to include everyone* |
I actually like the fans. I feel it adds to the environment, but most people hate hearing fans.
The fans make it feel like it's live or else you'd think it's a studio album since the quality is so **** good. I also think the fans add to the environment... anyway once the music starts you can't hear the fans anymore because pink floyd plays so **** loud. |
off subject, anyone ever learn the solo for "have a cigar"?
|

*wants to include everyone*
I really wish I could, but like I said I dont have any way to record anything :-/ |
How about a Hey You cover? If anyone has a fretless bass or double bass, I think that could work well.
Edit: Just played GGITS for a girl at my school. She can do the singing, if we choose to cover that. |
I can use a 12 string for rythm (spelling?) on WYWH, it sounds really good, our band covers it all the time.

wywh's rythmn section was played on a 12 string. Watch David Gilmour's live dvd and you see that. Any one esle here find Summer '68 a beuftiful song? |
Any one esle here find Summer '68 a beuftiful song?
yes it is, I love that song. It is probably one of my favorites on that album. |
Well, then, it looks like this:
Vocals: Magicbus/Myself Guitar: Ethan/Magicbus Bass: ??? Drums: ??? Keyboards: ??? Sax: Maybe if I can borrow my friends. I gave mine back to the school when I graduated.
If you guys need a bassist, I suppose I could fill in. Don't put me in if you already have one, but if you need a last resort, me is there. :thumb: |
Ethan: Sounds great, if you wanna do GGITS. I'm thinking maybe Jake (MXican) or Alex(Wintermute) can be persuaded to do the bass, since Jake is busy doing RATM and Tool. Clever boy. :)
|
I'm thinking of switching to bass and see if I can find some great guitarist, a drummer and a keyboardist to do some Pink Floyd stuff.
I find that I can mimic Roger's voice on his Comfortably Numb part. I like it, it's creepy. |
Again, if you guys need an emergency keyboardist to fill in, I could get my re-soddered and running again. I would need some tabs/sheet music to the songs. Again, I will just be a last resort.
Riva-Jake, the other Jake, can't record. He blew up his soundcard or something. :p Just a heads up. |
I can play the solo to Hey You, and I find that the whole song is in my range.
On another note, I also enjoy playing the Have A Cigar solo. |
