I took it my senior year. I hated it and everything I made looked ****ty.

DaveToopes 01-24-2006 11:12 PM

I loved it. I guess i was pretty good at it. I threw a good cylinder by the third day on the wheels, and got a 25/25 on my final 7 inch cylinder.

Mannik 01-25-2006 12:17 AM

I've never done any kind of metalwork class, and only one term of woodwork, which I made half a toy car, and even that looked like a rectangular block with partially glued on circles.

mookie91 01-25-2006 07:58 AM

Yeah I never been that good with making anything out of wood or metal. I was decent at making stuff out of yarn thought well I can make a decent looking scarf. But the teacher didn't like it so she gave me a F or a D can't remember.

Yeah, I'm not entirely up for making sculptures. Espcially right now, we're working on abstract pieces with clay... something I just cannot do.

Fortunately, I can instead work on photography.

And by work, I mean sit in the dark room and eat chips for an hour (unless I actually have film to develop)

Man do I ever love being an indiependent study kid.

Where can you buy fabric paint from?

skavid 01-25-2006 07:07 PM
Where can you buy fabric paint from?
Any art supply store will have some. Any Wal-Mart, Target, etc. type place should have some too.

coheneran 01-25-2006 07:26 PM

I suggest you buy Textile Medium and any number of acrylic paints. The you just mix equal parts acrylic and paint medium and slop it right through the stencil. Then hang it over the radiator and it dries in 40-60 minutes. The great thing with this is that you can paint different parts of the stencil in different colours. I made a McProfits shirt I'm really proud of, it's on a dark red t-shirt. The arches are in gold and the McProfits is in lighter, more vibrant (also nearer blood coloured) red. It looks amazing, I think.

PS: Ban over! WOOOOOOOO!

Clashed 01-25-2006 07:43 PM

Question. What would be the fastest way to make patches. I just bought the material for them. And have my stencil. What kind of paint should I use?

Buying at Walmart sorta defeats the purpose of DIY, or something like that that Nick said.
Question. What would be the fastest way to make patches. I just bought the material for them. And have my stencil. What kind of paint should I use?
There's a kind of paint you can buy in a normal paint jar called TEXTILE MEDIUM and you can mix that with ACRYLIC PAINTS to make paint that will stay on cloth and won't wash off. This is cheaper and more practical than buying straight out textile paint because textile pain doesn't come in as many colours readily (you will probably have to make orders for the less used colours) whereas every paint shop stocks tons of nearly every kind of acrylic colour. So if you mix in a jar equal parts textile medium and acrylic paint (ie. 2 spoonfuls of Textile Medium and 2 spoonfuls of Acrylic Blue and stir them in together(the textile medium is white but when mixed with acrylic it blends in and doesn't affect the shade or tone of the colour)) you get textile paint and you can just tape the stencil onto your chosen material and just sponge the paint through. Give it a good hour to dry and then, as with every other DIY print, iron it. Don't just slap the iron on it. Put a thin piece of material between the dried painted area and the iron, and iron over that for 10 minutes or so, and then peel off the covering material carefully. Another cool technique I learned is that if you put sparkly dust on them (like the sh'it we used to cover our pictures with in kindergarden) it will stick to the wet paint and then melt during the ironing, and what you get is a sweet-looking sparkly thing. So if anything you're printing calls for sparkly things, or if you just hang out with stoners a lot, it's nice.

Hey, if you want to send me a free patch all the way to England, fine, but instead, read this:

Also, that site has a decent DIY page:

Yeah, true.

I just realized something. Every Sex Pistols shirt I've seen has Sid Vicious on it. So to piss people off, I'm gonna make a Johnny Rotten shirt out of this picture

How Brokeback Mountain of them. Rotten had some sexy vocals, but all Sid did was die like a caboose.

He was "shock value." And he could barely hold a bass, much less play it.

Where is a good place to get some boots. They just built a harley shop here and they have some boots their. I checked out all the local good will shops and nothing but old sketchers and other shoes like that. Any ideas?

yourstruly 01-26-2006 01:33 AM

I gonna bleach the middle(the part sticking up)of my mohawk. And was wondering If anyone can tell me the best way of doing this without screwing it up or getting bleach on other parts of my hair?

These are pretty expensive but fu'ck me if they don't look awesome:

http://www.ethicalwares.com/range.htm

These guys are a lot cheaper. They don't have a lot of boots, but the ones they do have look kickarse and cost 50 quid. It says here that the steel toe cap can resist a force of 300 joules. That's like a bullet I think. Well, I know my old BB gun was 2.5 joules or something like that:

http://www.musonix.demon.co.uk/veganline/index.htm

Even cheaper:

http://www.vegetarian-shoes.co.uk/

Enjoy dude.

mookie91 01-26-2006 07:46 AM

I think I might just get them at the harley shop. It would cost the same amount for those boots all together to get them shipped here. And I could just go and walk in the store and get these.

Here are the ones I was thinking of getting.

True, but the links I posted are all for "vegan" boots. They're guaranteed fair trade and fair treatment of the workers. But then again some people don't really care about that.
