I don't, that's why I'd like to see the lyrics...

Steerpike 07-31-2006 11:16 AM

Ah. Urban Arcana is a game setting in which the modern world is facing an incursion of magic and creatures of myth from beyond the veil of Shadow.

Take a look at these galleries. That should help.

Stoic 08-01-2006 10:26 AM

Yes, I'm terribly sorry guys, I did my stupid thing again. Expect another e-mail soon :-\

LegionsofMarduk 08-01-2006 10:39 AM

I'll take the sampler if you still want to send it.

Everytime I hear The Bard's Song - In The Forest, I can't help but thing about the book I'm reading right now. And everytime I sit down to read, I always get The Bard's Song running through my head.

Stoic 08-01-2006 10:44 AM

Which book is it?

Lord Abortion 08-01-2006 10:50 AM

NP-Demoniac-Myths of Metal:D

Gotta love this one.

LegionsofMarduk 08-01-2006 11:21 AM

Stoic 08-01-2006 02:54 PM

Fan of fantasy literature? I've been getting into it (and science fiction) since the beginning of summer. Unfortunately I have a long way to go until I can safely say that I have decent knowledge. I really enjoy what I read though :) Sent you the Sabaton sampler by the way.

The YSI link now works fine guys, but if you have trouble let me know and I'll hook you with a megaupload one.

Lord Abortion 08-01-2006 02:55 PM

Dragonslayer is probably DE's best

Stormrider 08-01-2006 03:06 PM

Did you listen to the Edguy song, Stoic ?

Shattered_Future 08-01-2006 03:07 PM
Dragonslayer is probably DE's best
Stoic 08-01-2006 03:11 PM
Did you listen to the Edguy song, Stoic ?
no, megaupload is giving me the ridiculusly slow speed of 2k/s but as soon as I manage to get it I'll post about it ;)

Stormrider 08-01-2006 03:13 PM

Jeez, that's pretty slow. Okay then. Hope you like it.

fantasy books rock, although right now im more or less sticking to the same authors rather than exploring different ones (still have a Dragonlance trilogy i got for my birthday that i havnt had time to start on due to a song of ice and fire books being so long)

Lord Abortion 08-01-2006 06:12 PM

yeah, me too, it's not working too well.

Poofy 666 08-01-2006 07:36 PM

I just found this power metal band from Brazil. They are called Aquaria. I've been listening to Luxaeterna non stop.

Really!? This is the first time I've tried reading them and so far I'm really enjoying them. I'm about 1/2 way through the first in the series.

Yeah I'm a big fan of fantasy books. Probably my favorite series ever is the Shannara series by Terry Brooks. I just got into The Wheel Of Time series. There is a new Terry Brooks trilogy coming out starting this fall, but he only releases one book/year so rather than reading one then having to wait a year before I read the next one I just figured I'd start the Wheel of Time and read that until all of the new Terry Brooks trilogy is released.

I got the sampler. Thanks! I was getting ready to leave work when it got there though so I didn't get the music yet. I'll get it first thing in the morning when I go in.

Have you read the Elven Nations trilogy? Those are on my list of things to read. I've heard they're quite good. I think it's by the same authur that wrote some of the Dragonlance books.

Steerpike 08-01-2006 09:04 PM

My only problem with fantasy novels is that they've grown rather formulaic. Any of you ever read the webcomics ADVENTURERS! or RPG World? They parody to no end this very element in modern fantasy works (albeit from a video game perspective).

Unlikely heroes with unclear goals and good hearts end up encountering an evil presence and eventually end up discovering that they're part of an ancient prophecy to slay said evil. Throw in a token romantic sub-plot or two, some "side quests" and boom! You've got yourself a fantasy novel/video game/comic book.

And I'll read/play every single one of them

Shattered_Future 08-01-2006 10:26 PM

I haven't read much fantasy...

Sci-Fi, on the other hand, I love. Especially campy Star Wars books. Tales From Jabba's Palace or The Courtship Of Princess Leia ftw.

Steerpike 08-01-2006 10:38 PM

I really want to get some James Rollins novels, personally.

Steerpike 08-01-2006 11:18 PM

Remember I mentioned those Urban Arcana songs I was writing?

I just found out that the writers of Farscape are working on an Urban Arcana TV series for the Sci-Fi Channel. Since it's still in pre-production, I'm not sure what to think.

Excellent, Terry Brooks is next in my list! For now I read Tolkien (<3), Martin, Erikson and Herbert (for sci fi).

Ollie and Hope Eternal (name?), sent :)

Lord Abortion 08-02-2006 06:01 AM

Cheers Oro.

I'm not really into fantasy novels, at least, not the serious ones.

Tyr 08-02-2006 08:59 AM

Why is that?

Apocalyptic Raids 08-02-2006 09:07 AM

Because one of the members out of ABBA is named Björn.
