You guys are insane.

This is perhaps the most significant deathcore record to be heard, let me start by saying that much. With such few memorable bands in a genre that relies on tiresome, repetitive breakdowns and piggy squeels, these guys are a true breath of fresh air. And so young! What makes them most exciting is the fact that they can actually play their instruments, a feat which many metal musicians fail to pull off with ease. "The Price of Existance" raised a bar for technicality and flashy guitar work in the wake of countless copycat deathcore groups. "Awaken the Dreamers" pushes those broundaries even further. Hermida is a candidate for best scream/growl in extreme music today. His range will leave the listener at a loss for words, as he transitions from gutteral growls to throat-shredding screams. Chris Storey is the main attraction here. He sweeps across his fret board like an angry janitor. Some of the scales he plays are very exotic and oftentimes jazzy. The drummer is great too, holding a number of blast beats and mind-bending rhythms throughout the course of the record. Tracks like "Never Again" and "Until the End" will leave even the most seasoned metalheads foaming at the mouth for more brutality. A number of fans might be disappointing in the band for opting a more metalcore-friendly direction. You know that friend you have, usually 16-25 years old, who wears Hot Topic clothing and thinks he (or she) can kick anything's *** because he (or she) listens to Killswitch and Job For a Cowboy? Well, don't be suprised if he (or she) listens to this in time. Although I have a feeling this will be a successful breakthrough for the band, at least they've polished up their sound for the better. The breakdowns are bigger, the guitar tone is fuller, the production is crispy and clean, the lyrics are witty and vaguely political, and the guitar solos will melt your face.

Forget Despised Icon. Forget JFAC. Forget Animosity. Forget BMTH. All of these bands are fake. They don't play metal the way metal was meant to be played. Buy this album, and cream your pants

RetiredAt21 07-28-2008 04:05 PM

Indeed, enc is in fact, the douchy (sp?) loser.

Pebster49 07-28-2008 04:09 PM

I don't think douchy is an actual word, so don't worry about the spelling.

Gangrene 07-28-2008 04:11 PM

I think its "douche-y", kind of like "same-y"

Pete 07-28-2008 04:15 PM
