They were in junior high when they recorded/released that right?

I'd love to hear it just for the sake of hearing it haha.
no, they were in high school. it wasn't even a year before their EP, but the jump in quality is pretty high. It only has two songs:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XDpVMnxMDJU

and

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pN1m3q2jP7Q

I miss singing Silent Genocide (and Asperity of Sin) live. I still think Asperity of Sin and I Am Dmitri need to be rerecorded.

Really? Wow. Yeah I'm glad they didn't go the political route. Though I love "These Colours Don't Run" and "I am Dmitri". I dunno about re-recording Dmitri though why fuck with a masterpiece so to speak. Though it would be interesting to see how they could improve it...

Anglachel 02-23-2011 01:03 AM

rerecord it now that rody has a better voice i think he means

dont mess with it

By the time they'd stopped playing it live, there was a whole other layer of guitar work in it, and it was awesome.

This is from one of the most fun shows I've ever been to:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i57FZojWWOw

And yeah, just to hear it without it being so nasally and with some of the newer guitar parts. They weren't too fancy, mostly just build-up leads in the background.
i still can't get over him referencing chris on the album

what a pretentious asshole
Wait, Rody's a pretentious asshole for referencing chris?

Tyler 02-23-2011 01:08 AM

uh, no. i was making fun of beso's tantrum.

publicastration 02-23-2011 01:08 AM

kyle wtf are you talking about kezia songwriting was disjointed

shortz 02-23-2011 01:09 AM

Ugh I miss shows like that, where it's more intimate. Reminds me of my first Protest show back in '05. Got my glasses knocked off my face and scratched up. As well as I saw so pushed against the stage it was like watching a movie sitting right in the front row. Such a good show :)

yeah girl i remember that show, i didn't even bother watching closet monster's last set, i just chilled in the merch area instead.

that night someone asked me for cocaine while i was pissing. i should preface this by saying i was 16.

it's pretty funny the different paths all those dudes have taken. I mean London (mark) is doing pretty well for himself at Universal, which is a far cry from how he used to up the punx back in the day.

I still remember my first show too just because it was such an awesome gig. August 6, 2003 at the Rockit (RIP). There was human poop in the pit, and I got a black eye.

And uh, Bombs Over Providence were so awful. I think I probably saw them close to 20 times, and I was never happy about it.
You did see my posts a couple pages back about 3 of the songs being Arif's lyrics, correct?
I did, but what's the source? I can't picture Arif writing "the Jonas generation's got rings wrapped 'round their dicks," especially since I figured it was an allusion to Cheddar Cheese's "Joe Bros" song.

Nah bro. It had more points where I'm like "that was amazing" and I play the song over again just to hear all the good parts again.
Sean I hesitate to respond, because I would prefer if you just shut up.

I will now acknowledge the "Points" you made.

"this is what everybody else plays" -who? The devil wears prada?
...
"[screaming] this is a huge thing in your fanbase" - Kezia (the record you hold in such high regard) had less screaming than scurrilous

"none of your unique breakdowns" - see c'est le vie, dunsel, tapestry

Overall, you came here admitted that you stole something from me that I worked my ass off on for over a year, and then to top it off, you have all this negative feedback which is unfounded.

It's okay if you don't like it, I truly don't care. I'm not sure why you're trying so hard to let me know that it sucks? Or make sure that I care that you don't like it, do you not understand why this could be offensive?

and then after all of it you want to share "gits and shiggles" with me at a show? I would sooner share the palm of my open swinging hand with the side of your zitty face.

I will not respond to you again.
Rody on Facebook, finally putting that bitching kid in his place. This totally made my day.

Anglachel 02-23-2011 12:11 PM

just imagined rody bitch slapping some kid at a show

Tyler 02-23-2011 12:14 PM

just reminded me of the time he was swinging the mic over his head at the dungeon and this broad walked on stage and it smoked her right in the face

Tw1ster 02-23-2011 02:07 PM

Moonlight may be my favorite PTH song. Rody's vocals are amazing

publicastration 02-24-2011 04:30 PM

I think I agree with Tyler, this is their best album.

dude the riffs are so fucking good

Si1v3RfaNg 02-24-2011 05:12 PM

Tyler are you gonna write a review?

Tyler 02-24-2011 05:13 PM

It's a bit of a conflict of interest, so while I might a bit down the road, I'm not really planning on it. I might do something a little more informal.

Aaron 02-24-2011 05:14 PM

Does Roddy have any musical training at all?

Si1v3RfaNg 02-24-2011 05:15 PM

Alright cool. Your reviews tend to be cool and help me get into certain albums so I hope you do.

Tyler 02-24-2011 05:17 PM
Does Roddy have any musical training at all?
Rody, and no, not to my knowledge. I guess this is where you'll say it shows?

Aaron 02-24-2011 05:19 PM

Eh I'm not sure if I'd go that far. He seems to have a natural understanding of pitch, but continually makes bizare choices to me as someone who's a trained choral singer. I'm still undecided on his style.

Tyler 02-24-2011 05:28 PM

Have you heard the new one? I think he's finally understanding how to sing hard and well while still playing around with his voice. It's been a pretty long time coming though.
