Is anyone yet to find a live mp3 or whatever of Death or Glory??

white_riot 12-16-2005 04:49 AM

I'm beginning to think the Clash never played that song at a show. Very odd.

xxGumbyxx 12-24-2005 02:58 AM

Bump.

Does anybody know what kind of gun that is that Paul has tatted on his chest? I'm thinking about getting a similar one.

I have a Joe Strummer story.

I went to see the Clash back in, I think 77 or 78, with my roommate Kat. We were right in front of the stage, pressed up against the wooden barriers that kept us a few feet away from the band. A few songs in I heard a [I]crack[I] and the barrier in front of me and Kat bent forward. The auditorium was packed, and the kids were pressing forward farther and farther. I suddenly realized that the wood post would give at any minute, and my friend and I might be crushed, or at least, seroiusly injured.

I must have had a frightened look on my face, cos a roadie lept forward and try to pull us out into the pit, but by then we were wedged in too tightly. I'm not sure what exactly happened next, but suddenly the music had stopped, and Joe Strummer was at the mike instructing everyone to listen to him, to move back, move back. They did. I put my arms around the roadie, he pulled one more time, and I was free. Kat was pulled out right behind me.

I guess you could say that Joe Strummer saved us. He was a good guy.

Haha, that's awesome. I would kill to see the Clash or the Mescaleros.

And where was that show at?

Yeah, another question.

What was the name of the song that Joe and the Mescaleros played on Conan?

Forest_Fire 12-26-2005 10:47 PM

Do you have a link to the song?

p.s. I love that this thread is still around.

I don't have a link, but it had to be something off of the first album, since that was their only album at the time of their performance.

Alright! Looks like we're up and running. Where the hell is Combat Rock? This place gets a little sleepy without him. I'm gonna try to find some interesting stuff to post. This Is MX Clash!

I don't have their first album. I only have streetcore.

guns_of_brixton 12-27-2005 07:32 PM

So now i have all the Mescaleros' albums . Right now I'm listening to a sweet bootleg, its the Meskies doing Armagideon Time and it sounds like the Willie Williams version, or I think thats the black dude's name.

CombatRock 12-28-2005 03:53 PM

I have all the Clash albums, i really dont like Combat Rock that much, exept for a few songs on it, my goal now is to get all the Clash "greatest hits" "live" cds and all that junk, nice to see the thread back up, hello everyone!

Forest_Fire 12-28-2005 04:46 PM

I still only have streetcore. :(

Oh well. I don't listen to it that much anymore anyway.

CombatRock 12-29-2005 01:47 AM

I love streetcore! I can listen to Burnin Streets non stop.

guns_of_brixton 12-29-2005 02:24 AM

Combat Rock is by no means their best album but I listen to it the most.

JohnXDoesn't 12-29-2005 12:31 PM

I can't stop listening to the live stuff I downloaded awhile ago. And Sandinista still has it's claws in me, too. Streetcore, as well. What a good album that is. Good to see Combat Rock and some of the regulars back. Happy Holidays, everyone.

Anyone get some Clash related stuff for Xmas?

Forest_Fire 12-29-2005 12:39 PM

I got a tony hawk game that has white riot on it.

Ghostfire3 12-29-2005 01:00 PM

Yeah, that Tony Hawk game is old.

Their self-titled album is incredible. One of my favorite albums ever.

guns_of_brixton 12-29-2005 03:40 PM

THUG 1, sweet.

Mild_child 01-09-2006 08:13 PM

Guys, I heard that Paul Simonon sang Guns of Brixton because he wrote it..does anyone know of any other songs he sang on?

He has a very interesting voice.

Ghostfire3 01-09-2006 09:53 PM

Paul Simonon is so sweet. I looove a lot of his bass lines, such as the ones in London Calling and Brand New Cadillac.

guns_of_brixton 01-09-2006 11:57 PM

Paul sang... well he "sang" (if you wanna call it that) Red Angel Dragnet, the Crooked Beat, and of course the Guns of Brixton, which he wrote.

And also, Mick wrote all the lyrics to Complete Control.

I am Sean

JohnXDoesn't 01-11-2006 07:50 AM

Paul is a good bass player. He should stick to bass. I never really liked his vocals. Even for a punk band.

He really knew how to throw down some fat bass on all of the Clash's funk and reggae tunes. Solid all around player, too.
