Destroy All Girls 02-14-2011 06:35 PM

I would listen but my internet is about as fast as Bitchforks for 2 weeks out of every month
umm I'm super inexperienced with PE, I've listened to Prurient, Brethren and some of Bastard Noise's more PE orientated stuff and that's about it. I quite like what I've heard, so long as I'm in the right state of mind for it, Brethren is a perhaps a little too controversial in its hate for me though
that Brethren album was the album that got me into PE, I still think it is one of the best

if controversial hate turns you off this genre is not for you

Nepenthe 02-14-2011 06:36 PM

sucks 2 out of the maybe 4 or 5 people who might enjoy it can't listen

Destroy All Girls 02-14-2011 06:37 PM

next time i'm at the library I might download and load it on a flash drive

Nepenthe 02-14-2011 06:43 PM

it might be my best work. it was pretty much just an exercise in seeing how much i could manipulate bass sounds. and i didn't use any drum beats bc i was putting myself to a little personal test to see if i could make an entire album that didn't rely on beats to give a sense of movement and propulsion, yet still retained those elements. my one friend compared the way i used bass to drive the music along to the band suicide, who i'm not too familiar with so i can't comment on how right or wrong he was.

Nepenthe 02-14-2011 07:27 PM

Destroy All Girls 02-14-2011 09:44 PM

Absolute Body Control
The Klinik
Thomas Leer & Robert Rental
The Neon Judgement
Borghesia

I guess, band is a very new wave/post-punk kind of EBM esp. earlier on. That one song makes me think of Public Image Ltd's Metal Box album for some reason, though it is much darker and there is a distinct lack of synths.

cool thanks

and jaundice wtf were you thinking with claps

APirate 02-14-2011 10:18 PM

idk i wanted to just use electronic kick and hi hat and use an acoustic snare but i had to play guitar so i needed it all automated

so i just made a simple sequence and played it all through left and right channels, didnt have the equipment or time to do anything complicated

the open hi hat hit at the end of each measure was a bit of a risk too sounds like its from early 90s southern rap

Nepenthe 02-14-2011 10:22 PM

refer to comm thread

basically the only things that work are the rhythm guitars and your clean vox (to a lesser degree but they're aight)

Bitchfork 02-14-2011 10:22 PM

do wall o sound production

Destroy All Girls 02-15-2011 04:04 AM

would eai/onkyo discussion be appropriate here or would I be better off making another no-one-gives-a-shit-about-this-sort-of-music-catch-it-all-here thread?

Nepenthe 02-15-2011 05:30 PM
do you mean martial industrial Jon?

what is this
EAI is an acronym for electroacoustic improv - onkyo is a subgenre which is basically the same thing except it's Japanese and oftentimes sets a different mood but some people know onkyo over eai and vice versa so 99% of the time I say EAI/onkyo.

You might like. Or you might find it ridiculous.

Taku Sugimoto and Moe Kamura made some great great onkyo last year. A little ten minute EP called Saritote II.

Semi-Impressionism by Toshimaru Nakamura & Tetuzi Akiyama is one of the best examples of the genre, too. However, if you have the patience, get this for the ultimate in onkyo/eai. Not the best in terms of quality, I mean it's up there, it's just the most comprehensive work in the genre I've yet to find: http://rateyourmusic.com/release/album/various_artists_f2/improvised_music_from_japan/
Ignore some of the reviews where they give bad ratings because it's really minimal and grainy - as well as it's noise too so...

Bitchfork 02-15-2011 08:42 PM

oh and lowercase, is that here or elsewhere?

Destroy All Girls 02-16-2011 08:14 PM

old Die Krupps is pretty good
