The Real Me has awesome bass playing by Entwistle.

The Real Me is actually my favorite Who song after Won't Get Fooled Again. Everythings so perfect, Daltrey's intense, soaring vocals, Townsends ringing power chords, and Entwistle and Moon's insane virtuoso skills. For both drums and bass its hard to find a song that displays more talent.

I really, really, really want to see the Who now that I am suddenly obsessed with them

LVIEWIRED: He did an album called Arc. It is 30 minutes of feedback, ye have been warned

I'd kill to see The Who, even without the original rythim section intact. Anyone know when they're going to tour next?

Woodstock 10-25-2005 06:18 PM

I rented:

Flaming Lips - The Soft Bulletin
Flaming Lips - Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robots

at the library today. I was curious, since I've heard a lot of good things about this band.

The Who should tour sometime soon. They were supposed to tour this year to support a new album, but the album was delayed and so they didn't tour. I believe the album has been delayed indefinitely, but the Who will definitley tour again. They're not done yet, even with half of them dead. I think Pino Palladino usually plays bass for them and Ringo's son Zak drums for them.

robo2448 10-25-2005 06:28 PM

I just watched a video of The Who performing The Real Me. In the performance, they're old, but Entwistle is still there and dominating on bass. Great performance. I can't wait until they tour.

Edit- If anyone else want to see it, go to www.petetownshend.co.uk and click on Who TV. They show old Who performances. Cool stuff. Now watching Who Are You Live in Boston 2002. I completely forgot about this site, but checked when Walrus asked about touring, this Whotv feature is cool.

entwistle got better as he aged, no lie. when he died, he was at the peak of his abilities.

robo2448 10-25-2005 06:36 PM

Wow watching Townshend put on a show when he's so old is just awesome. Seeing him do the windmill at 60 years old is great. I would do anything to have lived in the '60s and '70s and been able to see The Who in their prime.

Edit- Now watching Love Reign O'er Me. Everyone should go to www.petetownshend.co.uk and click on Who TV.

Glitterati 10-25-2005 06:39 PM

Out of curiousity, what are you classic rockers doing for Halloween? I'm dressing up as a hobo and going trick or treating 'cause I'm old school

He was nuts at Live 8. He could have just gone out, done whatever, and left, but no. He did a full dedicated show, 'cause he's that kinda guy.

PinkFreud 10-25-2005 06:40 PM

wow, pete's hair

You Gotta Love Classic Rock

Honestly classic rock is the starting point of every great band out there. Look at the most moder of bands like sum 41 my chemical romance, whatching some of there interviews they say there idols are ac/dc, Iron maiden. classic rock started a whole revolution. I have to admit i listen to classic rock all the time. when im with freinds i listen, at school and at home. Classic rock is one of the best kinda music out there.

robo2448 10-25-2005 07:05 PM

nooooooo Who TV is playing Sister Disco. Worst nightmare come true. Sister Disco actually isn't that bad but disco + The Who are not a very good combination.

Welcome to the forums supercheech. A ton of modern bands are influenced by classic rock bands, but you have to remember that classic rock bands had a ton of influences too. Classic rock didn't just appear out of thin air.

PinkFreud 10-25-2005 07:07 PM

yes it did! i can prove it!

PinkFreud they just played the version of 5:15 with the Entwistle solo you always talk about on Who TV. Man Entwistle is amazing. I need that DVD. That was sick.

Broken Arrow 10-25-2005 07:15 PM

Thanks for warning me about the Neil Young albums but I was already aware of the oddness of his album's. Especially the 80's ones. I've nearly got his entire 70's edition!

PinkFreud 10-25-2005 07:30 PM

Scientist Rids the World of the Evil Curse of the Vampires is my favorite. It's the music from GTA3, in case you've played that.

PinkFreud 10-25-2005 09:38 PM

yes! vocalists comp is up and running. i want to see some support for the people i nominated. and remember, even if theyve been mentioned, mention them again. the vocalists with the most votes get in.

carl wilson
art garfunkel

those are two im not expecting much support for. so help them out.

I"d think the sex appeal would be Roger, though from a straight guy's perspective, John and Keith weren't too bad looking. Pete went the right way in growing his beard ;)

BlackDeathMetalJazz or really ANYTHING else please- 10-25-2005 11:57 PM

14 innings!!!! You'd think they'd be finished by now I still got some books to crack and some pot to smoke. :-/

"Calvery" by the Quicksliver Messenger Service is absoultly fantastic! The whole Happy Trails album is good really but "Calvery" stands out as epic. Can't believe I haven't listined to it more. Such a display of psychedelic guitar should be regarded as a classic!

FUCK!!! The Sox just hit a home run....
