Did anybody else think "wow, Syd Barrett" the first time they read William Blake?
I thought of Aldous Huxley, which leads me to think about psychadellia, which tends to include Syd Barrett. So yes, indirectly.

Once I heard an entire business transaction discussed behind me at a concert. It was wildly distracting and irritating.
Cause he's makin big bucks saying he's going to play all of Dark Side
This definitely.

MattSharpIsCool 05-08-2007 11:36 PM

That, and something like 85% of Floyd's songs are at least co-written by him. So really, they're his songs too, just like his solo stuff.
Please tell me the song from Animals was Dogs...

Please...
Riva's correct, it was Sheep :(

Dragon_Prince 05-09-2007 03:32 AM

if I remember the list correctly it was like

DSOTM
WYWH
SOYCD
have a cigar
sheep
fletcher memorial
set the controls
leaving beirut
perfect sense 1+2
in the flesh
mother
bring the boys back home
Comfortably Numb
Another Brick in the wall 2

Riva 05-09-2007 05:58 AM

Yeah, it's the same setlist as the Aussie leg of the tour.

I think.

Apocalyptic Raids 05-09-2007 09:03 AM

Damn that's a nice setlist

Jason where were we :(

Leper 05-09-2007 11:54 PM

Sweet set-list. I wish he wouldn't play Another Brick in the Wall though. Like come on, does any real Floyd fan want to hear that?

MattSharpIsCool 05-09-2007 11:56 PM

Why wouldn't they? So what if it's their most popular song.

Although I do enjoy it much more when "The Happiest Days of our Live" is played before it.

Yeah they did that on Monday in Manchester, this was the set list ... (Which will be exactly the same for each leg of the tour, so look away now if you want a surprise).

In The Flesh
Mother
Set The Controls
Shine On
Have A Cigar
Wish You Were Here
Southampton Dock
Fletcher Memorial Home
Perfect Sense
Leaving Beirut (Awful, imo)
Sheep
Dark Side of the Moon

Encore:
The Happiest Days Of Our Lives
Another Brick In The Wall
Vera/Bring the Boys Back Home
Comfortably Numb

I must say, the two guitarists Roger had (Snowy White/Dave Kilminster) just could not pull their weight when it came to Comfortably Numb's second solo ...

Aakon_Keetreh 05-10-2007 09:58 AM

Im doing a presentation and were suppose to do a video with our presentation, so is there any dvds i could show for 10 mintues? Like interviews, ect...

last_few_bricks 05-10-2007 10:36 AM

there's interviews on youtube that you could get, but yeah I agree with collis the guitarists that roger uses are definately not up to par. The solo is meant to be drawn out and legato, but they didn't play it like that at all, it really pissed me off, 'cuz I can play it better than they can

MattSharpIsCool 05-10-2007 08:52 PM

Well, you guys have to remember they may be decent guitar players, but David Gilmour is incredible, and that's really just "his" solo, if you know what I mean. That solo is the epitome of David's playing style.

If you have access to Live In Pompeii, there are tons of interviews on it.

pearlsjam482 05-10-2007 09:00 PM

Yeah, Live In Pompeii has some pretty good stuff on it.

MattSharpIsCool 05-10-2007 09:32 PM

Pink cunt doesn't even make sense

When you're trying to make a play on someone or something's name, normally it should sound sort of alike. Or at least be funny.

yeah you're right, but you can easily get close to it, I mean even I can get it almost sounding like the origional recording, and I've been playing for maybe two years. the guitarists that waters does use are good on a lot of other songs too thoughyou gotta give them credit, they're touring with roger waters
On his deathbed, unable to speak, Huxley made a written request to his wife for "LSD, 100 µg, i.m.". According to her account of his death (in her book This Timeless Moment), she obliged with an injection at 11:45 am and another a couple of hours later. He died peacefully at 5:21 pm that afternoon, November 22, 1963. Media coverage of his death was overshadowed by news of the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, which occurred on the same day, as did the death of the Irish author C. S. Lewis.
crazy. I still need to read Brave New World

Riva 05-12-2007 03:18 AM

It's not that good.

Slapping Penguin 05-12-2007 06:03 AM

I recently used (not read it) for a school assignment. We needed to choose 5 contempoary texts and use them to define and show similarties to a character in Rosencratz and Gulidenstern are dead.

I read like two chapters. It looked quite convalooted (I have no idea how to spell that! :p)

Apocalyptic Raids 05-12-2007 06:12 AM

Brave New World was alright. I studied it during my final year of High School, we had to make comparisons between it and Blade Runner.

convoluted?

Slapping Penguin 05-12-2007 06:36 AM

Ahh the all wise Jono ;)

Acutally it really wasn't hard to spell wasn't. Rather I couldn't be bothered working it out :p

I am sure you have realised by now I am one bad speller.

Actually it wasn't that bad, Snowy did his own solo for it which I thought was pretty cool rather than play the original.

Oh well that's cool then. But I mean, there are so many better songs he could play in it's place. I'm gonna wait until I hear it live before I bitch too much, though.

Danger Bird 05-12-2007 02:47 PM

I thought Brave New World was pretty good.

samariah 05-13-2007 02:47 PM

I'm just getting into Pink Floyd, what albums would you guys recommend?

Kaiwaz 05-13-2007 02:48 PM

Relics, Ummagumma, Atom Heart Mother, Meddle, Wish You Were Here to start.

Edit: I can't forget Obscurred By Clouds, excellent album.

samariah 05-13-2007 02:54 PM

Zebra 05-13-2007 02:55 PM

samariah 05-13-2007 02:56 PM
