Yeah, that splatter sucks. I can probaby get rid of it, tho. Or maybe, since the soles are kind of split into three sections (if you're looking from the side), I could do green, yellow, and red around the whole shoe.

Culture Shock 01-21-2006 11:13 PM
Okay, here's the deal with my shoes:

After some convincing, my mom moved her car. I cut the stencil out on posterboard, stuffed my shoe with newspaper, taped on the stencil, and sprayed. A few hours later, when the paint's dry, I come back to find that I used way too much spraypaint, way to close to the stencil, so it was just a big runny mess, with the original logo still barely visible. So I got this idea to just keep that big runny mess there and trace over the original logo in black marker. So I did that, and now it actually looks great and probably actually cooler and more original than just the logo would have been. Isn't it great when things work out?

Eventually I'll borrow some coloured sharpies from my friend and do the toe in rasta colours.
And why is that album still in the plastic?

To keep it nice. I slit it down the side so I could get the record out.

It's cool looking and I've never seen any neon spray paint at SEARS or anywhere else that I get mine from.

Nice? For what??? Do you mix Kool-Aid on your turntable or something?

I plan on keeping my records for a long time. Keeping the shrink on them will just help keep the jacket from wearing. My dad does that with all his records so I just sort of do it. Unless it's the kind of jacket the folds out.
Try a craft store. I recall seeing them in a place called Jo-Ann Fabrics by me.
Jo-Ann's is a wonderful craft store. I've gotten a lot more there than Michael's
To keep it nice. I slit it down the side so I could get the record out.
I do the same with my records. Keeps the jackets from getting scratched or torn.

Ghostfire3 01-22-2006 02:45 AM

Yeah, Jo-Ann Fabrics is the ****. That's where I get all my DIY stuff.

mookie91 01-22-2006 09:47 AM

Yeah I'll look Jo-Ann Fabrics up on monday. And for most of my records I also leave them in some sort of plastic cover just so the cover stays in a decent condition.

DaveToopes 01-22-2006 10:32 AM

Jo-Ann is great for craft stuff.

asdf 01-22-2006 10:59 AM

Always makes me giggle to hear punks going "Jo-Ann's fabrics is a wonderful store" "yeah, Joe-Ann's is the shit"

I just made this stencil, and I'm going to spray it tomorrow when the election results are announced, because I know those damn conservatives are going to win.

Damn them. Also, what do you use to make stencils? Paint would be waaaay to hard to draw stuff with.

P.S. Does anyone know any sites that have tutorials on how to make clothes from scratch? I really want to make my own pants and shirts and shi

Its pretty easy, That stencil took all of 5 minutes to make. I got their logo from their site and turned it black (didn't have to do any cutting because its already stencil-able) then you have to get stencil fonts, there are some at this site http://www.stencilrevolution.com/resources/

I used photoshop to make it.

asdf 01-22-2006 02:42 PM

I just noticed some stenciled graffiti around my neighborhood that I never noticed before.

And I gotta say... I'm a better stenciler than them

kmart has a bunch of neon colours...

whatohwellwhatever 01-22-2006 03:29 PM

To make your own stuff from scratch you need to go to Jo-Ann's or whatever and buy a pattern. They'll help you.

But, I'd advise against it. I made jeans and it tooks like 10 hours and they're uncomfortable as hell. Plus, you'll never find a pattern that actually looks like just a regular pair of jeans. In conclusion, it is very hard to make something worth having. VERY.

But then again, I might just try to make a t-shirt sometime. That shouldn't be too bad.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v306/spencer5135/pantsc.jpg

Plus the *** it too low and the front is too high, maybe because I didn't follow the pattern perfectly. Trashed 'em. But, be sure to put your own cool tags and **** in, [notice my fugazi tag, because I was in an Ian MacKaye phase]!

asdf 01-22-2006 03:32 PM

My mom made me pants from a jo-ann fabric pattern a long time ago, and they were fine. Then again, they had an elastic waist. They also had smiley faces all over them.

I was such a cool kid. :(

I just bought a sweater for 5 bucks although the "neck" (for lack of a better name) is a little long. I was going to just cut around the seams of that but then it will unravel. Any suggestions?

That is an idea but I think that it is too bulky for that.
