Yea, Phish covered the entire White Album at one of their Halloween shows.
On another note I'm obsessed with the song Tomorrow Never Knows, its such a great trippy song.
I love that song so much. Apparently one night, while recording Revolver, they all went home and came up with their own tape loops to contribute to that song.

Leper 05-17-2006 11:52 PM

Wow no Beatles posts in 4 days. How terrible.

So I was listening to Revolver again today, and for the first time, skipped over Yellow Submarine ! Poor Ringo, his most popular song is now evidently undeserving of my attention (though somehow I don't think he cares).

That's a pretty cool album. But, I'm not a huge fan of Beatles covers, usually.

Page six, that makes me sad.

magicbus 05-23-2006 11:34 PM

Wait we have a Beatles thread?

Yellow Submarine was my favorite song when i was 6. Heh.

Its seriously overrated though.

Leper 05-23-2006 11:51 PM

Oh yeah, without a doubt the worst song on Revolver.

rockinbass17 05-24-2006 07:16 PM

Nevertheless, still a fun song. I don't think Revolver has one truely bad song on it. Some that lack compared to the rest of the album, but all are good.

the_accents 05-24-2006 07:20 PM

This thread is so ****ing huge, this is probably been covered like eight times but what's anyone seen Oasis do "I am the Walrus" live. Like, actually seen them. I've heard it on "The Masterplan", but i just can't imagine why they'd pick THAT song.

I love that song! Dont bash it...

JonG 05-24-2006 07:22 PM

Yonder Mountain did And Your Bird Can Sing.

It was really good, but the original is just amazing.

rockinbass17 05-24-2006 07:24 PM

You mean the best Beatles song?:p

Broken Arrow 05-24-2006 08:42 PM

I've heard Mule do "Tomorrow Never Knows", it was interesting.

zabbit82 05-24-2006 08:49 PM
As for Beatles covers I think Hendrix's cover of Day Tripper is amazing. I actually think its better than the Beatles version of it.

On another note I'm obsessed with the song Tomorrow Never Knows, its such a great trippy song.
Indeed it is. My favorite off of Revolver. So trippyyyy...

Leper 05-24-2006 11:54 PM
I've heard Mule do "Tomorrow Never Knows", it was interesting.
I've really got to check out Gov't Mule soon. I keep hearing so many good things about them.

Hey but it makes a good sing-a-long.

Leper 05-26-2006 12:46 AM
Hey but it makes a good sing-a-long.
It really does. Who can resist singing along if someone starts singing it.

Neoteric 05-26-2006 08:06 AM

Revolver has been my bible.

MidnightRider 05-26-2006 09:41 AM

Rubber Soul is mine, it's so perfect.

The Concert For George is really cool, I watched it yesterday.

Guitarist_ 05-27-2006 02:28 AM

I only have the beatles "1" album. (hides in shame).
can somebody recommend me an album to buy? im thinking of buying revolver or sgt but any other suggestions are good

robo2448 05-27-2006 07:56 AM

Rubber Soul was the album that got me into them. So obviously, I'm partial to that for beginners. Everyone will probably give you a different answer though. But here's my argument for Rubber Soul: It's the bridge from their pop to more interesting period. All the songs are accessible and easy to get into and have pop hooks that will keep you singing along. But there are also tinges of psychedelia, complex songwriting, unusual instrumentation and harmonies that will keep you interested.

Midnight Rider will probably back me up on this.

rockinbass17 05-27-2006 08:00 AM

If you're interested in their psychadellic material, the two best albums for that are Revolver and Magical Mystery Tour.

For their advanced pop stuff, Rubber Soul (as stated already) and Abbey Road, the latter being more polished and well done, making it sound much different.

For early pop material, Help! is the best of the pre=Rubber Soul albums.

It's hard really, their sound changed so much it's hard to recommend one specific album to start with,

MidnightRider 05-27-2006 06:02 PM
Midnight Rider will probably back me up on this.
Indeed. Rubber Soul was, IMO, where The Beatles brought it all together.

FolkVikingFan 05-27-2006 06:06 PM

I like bugs. Beatles are the other hand are teh sex. Imagine is an amazing song (Lennon) but APC ruined it. Here comes the sun rules too

Nazi Bastard 05-27-2006 06:14 PM

I like the APC one more :-p

Beatles fred, I only have the ST/White Album. What should I get next?

FolkVikingFan 05-27-2006 06:15 PM

all of em. They are tr00

zabbit82 05-27-2006 07:57 PM

Get Abbey Road, Rubber Soul, Magical Mystery Tour, and my personal favorite, Revolver.

Hell, get 'em all.

TheShaneOMac 05-27-2006 08:17 PM

The "Classic" ones are

Rubber Soul
Revolver
Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band
Magical Mystery Tour
White Album
Abbey Road
Let It Be (Get Let it Be...Naked)

TheShaneOMac 05-27-2006 08:19 PM

If you want to get started on their solo careers get Lennon: Legend (Lennon), All Things Must Pass (Harrison), and Wingspan (Paul).

stadium_arcadia 05-27-2006 10:49 PM

the bloody beatles are definetley the best band in the world, that is their title to hold and keep forever. I think that let it be naked is better because it has dont let me down and i've got a feeling on it! too kick *** songs~
and i think that their best album is either rubber soul, or abbey road.

JOHN LENNON IS THE SH!T!!!!!!~~~

stadium_arcadia 05-27-2006 10:55 PM

I would recommend you buy "abbey road" because it is such a beautiful album all together, the songs are like crystal! ( whatever that means ) lol and there are quite a lot of well known songs on it too.
I for some reasons relly like the little riff on the " sun king"

Leper 05-27-2006 11:12 PM

I'd also say get all of them, but Rubber Soul is probably the best one to start with.

Hey stadium arcadia, I don't think this thread is big enough for the two of us.:p

Seriously though, change your avatar.

Yeah, that and Revolver would probably be the best Beatles' starter albums. Abbey Road is also a good pick.
yeah, I don't know what I was thinking!!

Leper 05-30-2006 01:04 AM

Yeah really, what were you thinking.

Well I haven't listened to the Beatles in a while. Isn't that odd. Actually most of my airtime recently has been taken up by the Who.
