well i would ban smoking in public places, the prob reduce the number of cigarettes being sold, i would try and encourage people to stop smoking. In this day and age when we know all about the effects of smoking, its pretty unacceptable to be doing something like that. Everyone would be healthier and live longer because of it, so its all good.

i think it should be banned it public places...but not all together...banning something all together would just make people want it more...

they wouldn't have to ban it if people just had the common since not to light up whereever they feel... they light up cigs right here at the doorway to the apartment complex and don't even care if children are around or not...hell they will just light up a joint and smoke it right there...

I think it should be banned in public buildings but not bars, restaurants or clubs. it should be up to the owners of those places to decide.

and banning smoking in general is silly and would hardly change anything except make roger waters all big and proud

where I'm at its already banned inside public buildings. I think that helped my dad quit. I'd never start smoking after how hard it was for him to quit. I chewed tobacco for about a month though. I had to stop though because the girls at my school found out and made me stop. It's gross anyways.

My Granddad died from lung cancer and also after seeing what the effects of smoking and passive smoking do to you, I think banning smoking is sensible.

no one is ever forced to passive smoke, but whenever you go out to a bar or restaurant then it is hard to avoid passive smoking if people are smoking in the building. I would like to be able to go out, not have to breathe in second hand smoke and not come back smelling like an ashtray

I don't know why so many people are arguing, giving up smoking is good for your health, long and short term, you and your clothes don't stink. And you probably have more chance of getting a girlfriend. A lot of girls I know wouldn't go near a smoker.

I figured out a perfect way to ban smoking.


You just need to distribute some kind of "smoking license". That is, anyone who is legal to buy cigarettes can do, and anyone who can't won't be given a license. If no new licenses are given out then it will slowly die out.


the only problem with this is that smoking will become an enourmous underground activity. I reckon that in time people will realise that if your doing illegal things then there are much more amusing and hallucinogenic things to do than smoking tobacco and getting lung cancer. It should just phase out eventually.
