Can anyone recommend me some nice neofolk bands and albums.
I enjoy Nest, but never checked anything else. I really enjoy the nature feel of Nest, so yeah.

Thanks in advance. :)
Also check out:

Fire & Ice - Birdking
Tenhi - Folk Aesthetic (3 CDs)

Totenkrieg 11-11-2007 04:58 PM
Empyrium - Where At Night the Wood Grouse plays
Fire & Ice - Gilded By the Sun
Sol Invictus - The Death of the West
October Falls - Marras (This is all acoustic folk, but I know you would love it).

Would you like me to send you some of these will the Loss and Doom: VS?
I second the 2nd and 3rd albums, the other two aren't near as good.

Angmar 11-11-2007 05:00 PM

Or similar.... 2, and 3 are more experimental as where 1 and 4 are straight up folk... that rules.

jrowa001 11-11-2007 05:16 PM

Empyrium are great, i thank Angmar for getting me into them and many folk/neo-folk bands

Angmar 11-11-2007 07:16 PM

Have you heard October Falls Jrowa?

I highly suggest getting Marras or Tuoni for great folk music.

jrowa001 11-11-2007 07:20 PM

i think i have Tuoni, cant remember which one i have on my itunes but i do remember liking it. havent listened to it recently though...i think i shall soon

Well, what exactly are you looking for?

Angmar 01-03-2008 10:27 PM

Listen to

Katatonia - Viva Emptiness

You should like both.

^Dream~Theater^ 01-03-2008 10:28 PM

Tyler 01-04-2008 01:33 AM

Supuration is all the things you just asked for. The CD with the naked pregnant chick with a baby's face coming out of her gut is solid.

publicastration 01-04-2008 01:39 AM

EDIT: I highly reccomend Veil Of Maya to you Dream Theater.

Tyler 01-04-2008 01:41 AM

You have to relax with this band you just found out. Also: not a blind recommendation thread. Also: I will check them out even though their name is unforgivable.

NemesisDivina 01-04-2008 01:42 AM

Yeah, seriously... ripping off of a Cynic song is NOT cool.

Song > Band
You have to relax with this band you just found out.
Oh come now. You were orgasming all over Fortress a week or so ago.

Also, I know it's not a blind reccomendation thread, I meant to reccomend them to Dream Theater because they would fit his like of "melodic/prog metal" or whatever he said.

Also, I'm not entirely sure if they ripped of Cynic at all.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maya_(illusion)

It could be coincidence that they picked the same inspiration up, even if it isn't though, I don't see the problem with naming your band after a song.

Favourite band releases an an album I've been waiting to hear for about a year =/= decent deathcore band you just discovered this week. But yeah, they're decent. Vocals sound awkwardly mixed but that's probably my laptop speakers. Still, they're not that amazing, sorry.

publicastration 01-04-2008 01:55 AM

Eh whatever, I don't know why but I really like them. :\

blueyxd 01-04-2008 02:12 AM

Shattered_Future 01-04-2008 07:44 AM

If you want some darker prog, check out Evergrey or Darkwater. For something that combines a little bit of everything (if you can find it), check out Persefone.

^Dream~Theater^ 01-04-2008 08:58 PM

Thanks for the help guys. Yes I know Evergrey, very good band and the norms like Kalmah/Cob and the like. I was pleasantly happy with Kamelot - The Black Halo. I tried finding Supuration but having a hard time. I tried using limewire(lol I know) and torrenting it but no luck, what are you folks using?
