Buuuuuuump

DisposableHeroes 06-21-2004 01:06 PM

what he said

Sandtrap 06-21-2004 02:18 PM

I think that dave was a pretty important part of the band, because:
1. He helped write some of the songs on Kill em' and Lightning such as:
Call of Ktulu, Ride the lightning and more I can't think of.
2. After Metallcia was threw with him he formed his own band that I have to say did well and still are.

Now Dave and Metallica are back and making a new cd, if anyone wants to know more about that just reply and I can explain more.

Sandtrap 06-21-2004 03:24 PM
hmmm i never realy thought about it, but Who wrote the solos on Kill em all?

Kirk or mustaine
It was some of both, if you have the CD you can look under the title of the song and if paranthesis it will explain which member of Metallica helped write the song...

superpeer 06-21-2004 03:28 PM

I think it was mentioned before that Mustain wrote the four horsemen solo.

dead56k 06-21-2004 03:44 PM

well he wrote the song. he brought in mechanix.

superpeer 06-21-2004 03:47 PM

Yes, true, but I think James added some riffs.

5,000th post :chug:

Squirrel 06-21-2004 03:47 PM

Yeah James added riffs, the whole song has a cooler feel.

4 Horsemen = great song
Mechanix = dire song.

Edit - Happy 5000th post and Birthday Superpeer :chug:

HeRoOfThEdAy1589 06-21-2004 04:16 PM

this one guy said that metallica have no songs that people can relate too...i was laughing hard but in shock that he said that..how could someone say that metallica doesnt have anysongs that people can relate to...fade to black, nothing else matters, etc......im still in shock.........if only people took the time to listen to them :upset:

RedBLood33 06-21-2004 04:55 PM

I Love metallica, i consider myself one of the biggest bands ever i mean theres not one song i dont like!...now St.Anger i think is way different like Lars's snare style its kinda annoying at times but its all good when u get into it i think...My favorite songs from each album are
Kill Em All: Seek and Destroy
Ride The Lightning: Creeping Death
Master Of Puppets: The thing that should not be
And Justice For All: One
Black Album: My Friend Of Misery
Load: Mamma Said
Re Load: Fuel
St. Anger: Frantic
Garage Inc: Astronomy(i know its a cover but still very nice song)

These are my absolut fav. songs from each of their albums and i love playin em on guitar i mean its just such excitment while playin these songs...all I have to say is Metallica is the greatest Rock/Metal band ever and they will remain that way forever!!!

P.S. My band(Explicit) is good too, anyone want a sample of our songs just ask!!

dead56k 06-21-2004 05:00 PM

yes metallica is quite good.

drewlobo 06-21-2004 05:01 PM

Metallica--gods of nu-metal or fairies of thrash?
The're good pre-Black album but not even close to being the best thrash/speed band.

dead56k 06-21-2004 05:07 PM

quiet you.
i consider myself one of the biggest bands ever
I couldn't resist.

drewlobo 06-21-2004 06:40 PM

I think this would make Metallica fricking awesome, because they should be.

New Line-Up:
James Hetfield-Vocals, Rhythm Guitar
Dave Mustaine-Lead Guitar, Background Vocals
Marty Friedman-Lead Guitars
Steve Harris-Bass
Joey Jordison-Drums

Three guitars, two great lead guitars, a great bass player that can write, and Joey who kicks arse on the skull-rattling drums.

Songs to play in the concerts:
From Metallica............

Hit the Lights
The Four Horseman
Seek And Destroy
Metal Militia
Am I Evil
Fight Fire With Fire
Ride the Lightening
For Whom the Bell Tolls
Fade to Black
Battery
Master of Puppets
Sanitarium
Damage, Inc.
Blackened
One

That's 100 minutes alone

Now for Megadeth........

Wake Up Dead
The Conjuring
Peace Sells
Devil's Island
Set the World Afire
In My Darkest Hour
Holy Wars
Hangar 18
Tornato of Souls
Skin 'O My Teeth
Symphony of Destruction
Reckoning Day
The Killing Road
I Thought I knew It All
Black Curtains

That's about 72 minutes of Megadeth.

I'm sure there's some Killing is My Business songs I'm missing 'cuz I don't have that, so some songs could be substituted for the Megadeth ones I listed. But how about that idea? The concert would be like 3 hours long, pretty heavy with 15 Metallica and 15 Megadeth songs, and I'm sure they would come out with good albums.

stupidmoron90 06-21-2004 06:50 PM

Hey which album do you guys think is best?
Kill 'em All's got my vote. :thumb:

Ride the Lightening

LarsDrummer14 06-21-2004 07:14 PM

I'll probably get flamed for this but what the heck...

A couple pages back there was a little discussion about the technical abilities of Lars and it pisses the hell out of me when people say a drummer is better than another because of his double bass speed!! SPEED ISN'T EVERYTHING!!! And if you want to talk about speed don't take into account all these speed and death metal bands because most of these bands' drummers use doubles with their feet while Lars sticks with good ol' singles which are much more physically streneous, especially when you hit as hard as he does. So I just had to get that off my chest, but if you want technical jazz ability - Buddy Rich / Gene Krupa, rock - Mike Portnoy, and Metal - Lars. He isn't overated and is one of the most original live drummers I've heard in a while.

  :upset:   :p :) :thumb:

sMURFJEW 06-21-2004 07:35 PM

Actaully for drummer speed means lot about there ability. I mean even i could play all the songs in the world if i played it at 10bpm. But then it takes a skilled drummer to do it at 210bpm+.

I hate doulbe bass pedal. It annoys me, but thats just me

now beer :chug:

LarsDrummer14 06-21-2004 08:56 PM

But at 10 bpm could you keep a steady tempo? ;)

Can you guys help me out and head over to Drums & Percussion and check out my sad little excuse for a thread -- The OFFICIAL **Lars Ulrich** thread???

lol I started it part joke part serious but it ain't workin! lol

w/e

metal_militia15 06-22-2004 03:20 AM

man lars is pretty good with double kicks, all metallica songs rock and they r 100 times better live

clown_phobia 06-22-2004 04:09 AM
Ride the Lightening
black album's my favourite

Zmev 06-22-2004 04:33 AM
Theyre good at what they do and they write brilliant music but they are NO WHERE near best. Ever.
I agree but my friend doesnt, hes pretty sold on Metallica for best guitar ever even though i did explain about Led Zeppelin, Dream Theater and the whole Joe Satriani teaching Kirk

He also thinks Chili Peppers are the best for bass, again, good but not the best ever.

bigguy69 06-22-2004 07:44 AM

i heard metallica was coming out with a greatest hits album

HIMFLAMES 06-22-2004 10:32 AM

Many people dislike Load and Reload and the Garage's, but the truth is, some of their best work is off those albums. Take Bleeding Me for example. its calm, heavy, amazing solo, i think that those albums are underrated.

HeRoOfThEdAy1589 06-22-2004 11:41 AM
i heard metallica was coming out with a greatest hits album
i really wonder how they would do that cuz all of their songs are great, well almost all of them are great. and plus they kinda already do.......only its a tribute to metallica and other bands redid sum of 'tallicas songs..theres a couple out already. such as "The Blackest Album"etc....

sMURFJEW 06-22-2004 11:49 AM

They already have a greatest hits album, Its called Master of Puppets

DWESP 06-22-2004 11:56 AM

ok all u tallica fans, can any of u tell me why all the times for the songs in the master of puppets album booklet are wrong example: it says in the booklet that master of puppets is 8:38 but its actully 8:35 the others are a lot further out than that. U all probably think this is a stupid question but i was just wonderin.

Squirrel 06-22-2004 12:51 PM

Havent a clue - theyre fine on my Cd player.

Your player probably cuts songs off eary or something.
