nother new song

(*The Noonward Race*) 08-30-2011 11:54 PM

nice

Morumbar 08-31-2011 05:01 AM

I never use distortion on vox anymore. Guess it depends on the type of production you're going for.

Liking that, botb. Those are some great screams. The vocals seem to fit into the mix better on this track than on the last one you posted.

witchxrapist 08-31-2011 05:47 AM

@berkay: if you want natural distortion, idk how loud you scream, but just cup the mic REALLY tight and almost put the mic in your mouth and scream as loud as you can.

rasputin 08-31-2011 08:39 AM

yeah i do that already, im planning a different kind of song with my band for which i want really heavily distorted, unrecognisable vocals. i cant growl so i was thinking of other ways. the song will be a really long slow one, hopefully something like corrupted's paso inferior but not that long and not that good

quick preview of me band's new ep, it sounds soooo nice
Drums and vox sound good, the guitars aren't really sitting right in the mix IMO, not sure how to describe it except they feel kind of muffled/not present enough at times. I guess once it gets compressed things might change

Pretty sick sound though overall

witchxrapist 08-31-2011 10:00 AM

Thanks mang. I'm really happy with the way it turned out, regardless.

Itwasthatwas 08-31-2011 10:19 AM

^no doubt man, it sounds powefrul

adbforever 08-31-2011 05:35 PM

I just use reverb on my vox, sometimes some delay

Drugstep 08-31-2011 06:06 PM

i put as much reverb and delay as possible on everything

Haz 08-31-2011 06:09 PM

any tips on EQ'ing bass and guitars

it always sounds either too muddy or far too dominating

Drugstep 08-31-2011 06:12 PM

i would give some advice but this new song im workin on sounds like utter shit so im in no place to teach

adbforever 08-31-2011 06:24 PM

my friend does all the eq mixing shit

Drugstep 08-31-2011 06:27 PM

im really good at EQing songs that are entirely programmed but when it comes to live recording of instruments and vocals ive still got a lot to learn

Morumbar 08-31-2011 06:31 PM
any tips on EQ'ing bass and guitars

Depends on the music you're making, but guitars could generally use a cut from 30hz down to 0, a boost anywhere between 150-250hz, a stoop from there to something like 5k or 6k hz, and then a boost between that and 10k or so, followed by a drop. This is roughly speaking. Bass, idk, really.

Full EP. Check it out, I think my vocals sound kind of cute.

Not really into track 3, but whatever.

yayayayyay

Morumbar 09-01-2011 12:12 PM

Just downloaded. Listening to it now, Mappy.

Production is good. Digging that intro riff a hell of a lot.

witchxrapist 09-01-2011 12:16 PM

yeee

Morumbar 09-01-2011 12:17 PM

This is some quality shit, mate.

Kind of curious about the lyrics, though. These track titles are kind of weird, lol.

witchxrapist 09-01-2011 12:32 PM

The song titles are kind of unrelated except for Imprints.

Morumbar 09-01-2011 12:38 PM

Oh, okay, lol.

Always liked that cover artwork, btw. Reminds me of Drudkh's The Swan Road, which has a terrible production but such an amazing cover art.

nodding 09-01-2011 01:03 PM

cover needs more surf

heres some gay ass chords

christsimpson 09-01-2011 01:17 PM

@morumbar r u Ceminon?

@mappy do u have some demos/unmastered/unmixed/whatever stuff? I'll probably like that more, LOL.

anyway this is some pretty cool mix of genres. I like it. but it's easier to talk about what I don't like, so...

I'd have less double-bass & more crashing cymbals though. the constant double bass is too nagging for me, and drags it down a bit. it's really loud and demanding. I'd also like some feedback and faux-screamo choruses, but hey that's just me, probably.

but overall this is neat. the screamo-ish song dedicated to your cat is nice. it's the best track along with #4. the intro riffs on #4 made me wish it progressed into a full blown Manowar track. but it's pretty good as is as well. second best track. the other two lack the distinct guitar/bass work that #1 & #4 have, thus making the overbearingly nagging double bass-drums momentarily bearable.

there are a couple of truly inspiring moments on here - the stand outs being the fast part of #1, and the epic guitar parts on #4. but both songs simply have fantastic guitars, top notch vocals & creative solutions in general. sadly, the drums are really weak throughout this record, IMO. not only the awful focus on double bass drums, but just the way they sound as well. the rapid snare bashing on #1 is really really really cool though. a rare highlight from that instrument.

IDK if you give a shit though. this might just be tl;dr or "who does this idiot think he is" to you... but there it is. looking forward to hearing more from your band. hopefully (for me), you will be expanding on the areas I think you are doing magnificently in the future. good luck.

nodding 09-01-2011 01:22 PM

map can u put the art/tracklist on ur bands page so i can add that shti on rym

Morumbar 09-01-2011 01:48 PM
@morumbar r u Ceminon?
Yeah. Changed it when I found out that "cemina" apparently was a misreading of Tolkien's handwriting and it turned out it should have been "cemna". (The "-on" suffix makes it a male word.)

christsimpson 09-01-2011 01:52 PM

Your musical compatibility with Ceminon is Low

Music you have in common includes Manowar, Burzum, Summoning, Lies Of A Murderer and Blind Guardian.
