For sure. Minnesota is making headway too. And I bet within the next 15 years, especially given all of the recent Mexico violence, Arizona will be legalizing it.

Gattsu347 04-02-2009 06:45 PM

once one state does, a bunch of them will. California will actually make money instead of going more in debt and the whole country will **** a brick.

Gattsu347 04-02-2009 06:59 PM

i mean, it's already really easy to get a club card and legally smoke and grow. the only problem is the DEA. i just think it will become more popular the longer Obamalama is in office.

BenJammin 04-02-2009 07:03 PM

Yeah, that sort of stuff is pretty lax around here. I know tons of people who privately grow, and tons more who smoke, and no one really gives a damn as long as you're not being disruptive or trafficking or anything.

no it wont obama just said he has absolutely no intention of touching the legalization of any illicit drug he laughed and scoffed at the notion that taxing weed would benefit our economy in any way shape or form

probably gonna wanna you know watch what he says before you just say stuff

I'm beginning to think he doesn't want to help the economy at all. I think he wants it to get so bad that we slowly turn to socialism. Just my $.02.

Aren't there some people that are really looking to living autonomously on a man-made island on the ocean? I want to go live there.

I think he wants the economy to get so bad that Americans slowly start believing that socialism is the best answer. It'll start with socialized medicine. Then it will be socialized employment, and it'll slowly trickle from there.

Why is that? This man is in a powerful position, and he has scared me since his days in congress.

I really wouldn't put a damn thing past him, and given the socialist nature of his platform, I'd say it's highly possible.

Yes, I am a bit of a conspiracy theorist. 9/11 was an inside job. JFK's body was tampered with prior to the autopsy on the flight back to Washington.

Sablate McNuff 04-02-2009 09:48 PM

Boss RC-2 on CL for $100.

If it's not sold, I'm snatching it up tomorrow.

BenJammin 04-02-2009 10:02 PM

That's a great price.

I'm always on the fence about selling my looper. On one hand, I don't feel as though I use it enough to justify keeping it. On the other hand, I would hate not having it to jam with.

Sablate McNuff 04-02-2009 10:08 PM

I know the RC-2 is nothing fancy, but I figure it'll be a nice step into basic looping, which is really all I planned on doing with it anyway.

BenJammin 04-02-2009 10:18 PM

I kind of want to work MIDI into my looping too, but I have enough gear to haul about as it is.

m-dirnt_fan101 04-02-2009 10:41 PM

can anyone reccomend a decent DI box?

I need one for church...

Thought about a software looper? You have the audio interface and an amp, so you'd just need a MIDI footswitch.

PaulSimonon 04-03-2009 02:59 AM

Negative. If I'm going to use a looper, I want the flexibility of the RC-50 at a minimum. I'd prefer a Looperlative, but lord knows that's not going to happen.

Doesn't Manring have a couple of them?

I'm sorry, but I can't warrant that price tag. I can't ever see myself needing 8 stereo channels and all that midi stuff.

Then again, I'm not a solo bassist, so to each his own.

Ok. But if you ever want something simpler. :)

But you can do so so so so much more with a looper than just run a bass into it. A mixer gets you as many inputs as you want. MIDI gets you as many synthesized timbres you want. Add external hardware (eg. effects pedals) if you want. I don't even really use my bass with my looper anymore. Currently I have my guitar and keyboard going in, with an octave effect for the bass parts.

So we played this show last night. We were told we had time for one more song, and we had two different ways to end the set. One way still had 3 songs left, the other way had one 7 minute song left, which we still haven't perfected, but we're getting close. So we decided to play the 7 minute one, which is a damn hard song to play. Besides some individual sloppiness, we were really tight on it.

The difficulty comes from it being (a) so long and (b) in so three different time signatures, with all kinds of weird things... like a part that's 7 bars of 7/8 and then 1 bar of 4/4. The other time that it's in is 3/4.

Anyway, I'll get a video of it up soon, because, as I said, it's not perfect, but I'm still really proud of how we played it. And I think you people might like it more than most of the stuff we've done.

Very true, which is why I didn't discredit it at all. I just think that, for my personal use, I couldn't see needing that much functionality.

Props to people like you, though, who can take a piece of gear like that and maximize its potential. I admire that.

It was a pretty whack show, though. Out of 4 performers, we were the only band. The other 3 were singer/guitarists. I heard the same song about 30 times last night, it went: G C D G. All 3 of the guys did it for their entire set. It was excrutiating. And some of the worst lyrics you've ever heard.

Don't complain. Pop a couple aspirin, sit through it, and appreciate how much better you look by comparison, especially in the public eye. If you stand out, you'll be remembered.

In other news, I just pieced together this old hookah, and it's rather ghetto at the moment. I've decided to give it to my sister for he 18th birthday, but I want to re-color it. I'm not going to buy a new bowl, so I'll have the one currently on there, which is the orange bowl in the back:

The color is actually a little closer to this:

I'm going to stain both the glass base and the metal stem. Any suggestions on a color scheme that would work well with that? I'm kind of thinking that a nice Blue/Silver combo with a hose to match the bowl might look kind of nice.

Yeah, I'm going to get a 1/4" to 1/8" cable so I can hook my laptop into my looper and use Reason to loop with.

Sablate McNuff 04-04-2009 11:58 AM

A hookah? It's a water pipe designed for smoking shisha (tobacco with a molasses flavoring).

They come in an infinite number of styles, hoses, and color combinations.

The one I posted is a very basic hookah and is a lot like the one I want to give to my sister. I just need to find a color combo that will work with the orange-ish bowl (the very top part of the hookah, where the tobacco is placed).
