So... what's going on?

I haven't been at school since Wednesday last week... which means I've only missed three days, but I've had a pretty awesome five day weekend. :D

I didn't even have class today, so I got some good essay writing time in. I totally had an epiphanic moment while writing a paper earlier and scrapped it and started it again, but the difference in direction and content may be the difference between a B and an A paper.

Spaceman Spiff 10-16-2006 10:49 PM

That's pretty cool. It kind of sucks when that happens, but it's good at the same time. I remember it happening to me a couple of times in my philosophy class when I was in grade 11, I'd be working away on some essay then realize something that I didn't before causing me to start from the beginning, changing the thesis and everything.

Yeah, it makes for a lot more work, but the good grade is ultimately worth it. It's bad, however, because I have another 2 papers, a short story, and a take home test to deal with.

Spaceman Spiff 10-16-2006 10:56 PM

That sucks, all the work that you have, that is.

I hope I didn't miss anything big in my absence from school.

At least I only have two real courses. My other course, the third one that I don't count, is English class. I did it last year, I'm just handing in all the same work, doing some of the stuff I missed last time, and getting a good grade. It's all easy crap... grade 12 English.
We're doing Hamlet, which I'm killing because we did it last year. I'm actually growing rather fond of Shakespeare, to be quite honest, I think it's just easier to hate him when you're too young and don't really get it. I'm getting it now.

HELLonWHEELS 10-16-2006 11:00 PM

Im so faded right now. :smoke: :smoke: :smoke:

Spaceman Spiff 10-16-2006 11:13 PM

I read Romeo & Juliet in grade 8... hated it.
I read Twelfth Night in grade 9... hated it.
I read Romeo & Juliet in grade 10... understood it a bit, still didn't like it.
I read Macbeth in grade 11... it wasn't bad, not really for me, still didn't totally get it.
I read Hamlet in grade 12... thought it was alright, but still had trouble.
I'm reading Hamlet again now and I really like it. It's very well written, very smart and clever. It's making me want to go back and read those other plays again.

bottlerocket 10-16-2006 11:31 PM

It's because Shakespeare sucks. For good British poets in the same era, check out Sir Philip Sidney. That dude was way better.

I still hate that type of poetry, though. I'm a big fan of modern poetry, relatively speaking (1930+) but my favorite poets are diverse.

EE Cummings + Jack Kerouac + TS Eliot = win!

well i can kinda. it makes it easier that i'v been playing piano since i was 6. the pedals is what makes it hard. but being crap is pretty fun.

Aerodyne 10-17-2006 12:37 AM

I could make some crude comment about what kind of organ ( :naughty: ) you've got, but instead I'll ask, "What kind of organ (sans :naughty: ) did you get?"

I wish that I could play piano. My one friend decided randomly one day that he was going to learn how to play piano and within a few months you could tell him the chord progression that you were going to play and he could improvise over it. Not to mention that he is a good guitarist and the best drummer that I have ever played with. Dude is so talented.
