^ Yeah, there is no doubt that Steve is a great guitar player, and they do great with him. He has his own style, which is always good.
|
FOr any Who fans out there, their putting out a new greatist hits collects, "Then and Now", but they're also talkin about new material, album and everything. I dunno who the drummers gonna be, Zak Starkey was awesome at their last tour, but im not sureif i like the bassist, pino palladino.
What was the topic again? oh, right, yea, classic rock rules, ive noticed lots of fans at my school, great news. |
^ They're also releasing a new album and supposebly already went into the studio.
|
from the last page -- The strokes and the links of leon, although there no where near what the old guys are, there pretty decent music, and certainly better to listen to than the darkness.... his voice puts me off.

hey will someone tell me a good yardbirds cd to buy, because i've heard good things and i'm interested.
|
Good job, The Yardbirds are a very good band. I'd say get Ultimate!. It's a compilation of all of their best songs. I think the CD has about 50 songs so you will be interested for a while. Now go out and spend...

ANYWAY, any of you guys like ZZ Top. I'd say I'm a decent fan of theirs. I don't have any of their albums but I have quite a few songs downloaded. Some of my favorites are "Apologies to Pearly", "La Grange", Legs", "Sharp Dressed Man", "Cheap Sunglasses", "Pearl Necklace" and more others. What I like about them is their "dirty southern blues" style they got. Plus Billy Gibbons is one of the best blues players out there. It's said that he was Jimi Hendrix's favorite guitar player. So, what do you guys think about them.
|
I love zz top. They just plain rock. My dad hates them in the way a Bob Dylanish type person hates Ac/dc (and zz top too I guess). They have a great guitarists too :).
|
i like zz top a lot. i'm not like a true fan, as i only have a greatest hits album, but it is quite good. i love sharp dressed man, cheap sunglasses, legs, tush, the grange, and give me all your loving.
|
I saw ZZ Top live, they were pretty good, each were great musicians.
|
It's nice to see that you guys like them too...
So, do you guys have any concerts already planned for summer. So far I'm thinking about a Phish concert and a String Cheese Incident concert. I would go to a Dead concert(they already released the tour dates) but the closest venue is waaaay to far away. East Troy, WI. There is still a possibility though. Also maybe I might go to an Allman Bros concert. I can't wait to see Derek Trucks, he's awesome. So these 4 choices are what I got. This is kinda classic rick related so share your plans with me and mayby recomend me other comcerts I could go too. Anyway, let me hear you out. |
EDIT: Sorry, double post.
Bonzo's post - Good point Bonzo, that Van Halen tour should be kickin. I'll have to consider that too. |
i dunno yet, but if they do a NY date, that van halen tour is a must.
|
I don't really have anything planned, The Who may do another tour. I'd definatly go to that.
|
If the who do a tour I would go no matter what. I'm going to go see Van Halen and Hopefully the Allman Brothers. If anybody gets the chance go see one of those pink Floyd cover bands. Not the real thing but pretty good :thumb:
|
Deep Purple are playin a couple shows here (New Zealand), I may go to one of those.
|
There is a Pink Floyd tribute band who tour here every year, they are INCREDIBLE!
They have a light show and backing screens and other great effects. I might go to a Led Zeppelin tribute band soon, they sound pretty good. |
Mm classic rock
Im glad to see so many people that enjoy the same bands as I do. At my school only my best friend and I have much sense of anything before the 90s. The Beatles inspired me to play guitar and bass more. Their my favorite band, and I'm trying to learn as much as I can about other classic rock. I listen to Jethro Tull, Hendrix, and pretty much anything I can find.
As for a revival, I doubt it. And that sucks. Most people that 'like classic rock' only like Beatles and Led, as aforementioned, and that's only because they are told to. |

i'd hit up the who. i'm hoping clapton will tour by me in support of his new album

My band, "The Frozen Food Section", is trying to bring back jam bands and Folk/Bluegrass/Blues/Psychedelia-Rock. Though there are a good amount of bands like that now, but they are mostly underground (With the exception of a few), and maybe we can join the greats and get people more into that type of music. Though, we have to get our act together a bit first. Plus we have plenty of time. P.S. I also don't like the name, I'm thinking of a different one. |
Hmm, a Clapton concert would sound pretty sweet, gotta consider that too.
Badmoon, your band sound really cool. When you guys get some songs done you gotta post them on here. I'd love to hear them. And I agree with the name thing, CHANGE IT! :p |
I'm going to see a festival type concert (3 days) this sumemr with a bunch of bands like steppenwolfe, april wine, david wilcox, and a bunch of other bands, no huge names i don't think but great bands none the less. And the name is kind of bad, my band is also stuck on a name though, it can be hard to think of a good one.

We've been playing for a short time. The covers we have done don't fit exactly what I just said, but were working on some covers that do. The covers we have done, in our short time together are "Bad moon Rising", and "Uncle John's band". |
<-- Bonz0 yours... heh, sorry badmoon, ill get to yours asap.
*counts down - 7hours till the DP concert! DVG. EDIT: Badmoon, got yours done, just need to wait for bonz0 to pick his up |
Zillions of Great ol' Rock bands...
How about...
Tull - Deep Purple - ELP - Yes - Doobie Brothers - Bad Company - Frampton - Humble Pie - REO Speedwagon - Zappa - Jeff Beck - Mahogany Rush, Pink Floyd, Uriah Heep, etc, etc, etc... |
^^^Yea, that's true, there are a lot of great ol' rock bands out there.^^^
Badmoon, if you have recording of those 2 covers you should put them up on soundclick or something. Like I said before, I really want to hear them. And also, what instuments do you play in your band. I'm just curious. |

Haha, using Pulp Fiction wisely.
Yea, guitar is the way to go. Some banjo playing would be nice too. Anyway, I'll be waiting till you guys record something. |
^Well don"t be suprised if your waiting for a while
|
Think you could post some music from your band some time?
I might start a band once I get my electric guitar. We would be sort of a Van Halen type band exept with less good soloing obviously. We would have a few acoustic songs and maybe even a few bluesy songs. |
Heh, my band does covers of time, The Ocean, Dazed and Confused, Voodoo Child, Purple Haze, Communication Break Down, we used to do some others but we haven't played them much lately, unfortunately we also have no vocalist however my guitarist is taking lessons, and he'll currently fill some parts in with some improve.
