which one are you in the picture on M-A?
|
That's not a recent picture either haha. We haven't taken any promo pics in 2 years so I'm not on that as well.
And that's the gayest pic of us ever. |
lol weatherford looks liek a fatty fat fat in that picture
|
You just listed the worst though. :-/
They are the only ones that have good amount of talent the rest just whore breakdowns and whine about god in the most obvious of ways. |

You obviously haven't heard many Christian bands then.
lol weatherford looks liek a fatty fat fat in that picture
Haha dude Ian looks even worse |
lol breakdownz!
 no. Also, how is talking about one's religion whining? Underoath and As Cities Burn both have awesome musicians, and they're not just breakdowns.
Haha dude Ian looks even worse
Truf. |
Underoath's new cd is pretty good, but As Cities Burn is a no no for me, from what I have heard from them:rolleyes:
|
That "rolleyes" smiley has no place, just because you don't like them, doesn't mean they're not talented.
|

As Cities Burn's first cd was much better than their newer stuff. |
who loves Blindside? i do. not so much their last album but all their other albums are great
|
Hate on As Cities Burn all you want (I sure do), but their live show is one of the most emotionally charged shows I have seen...simply brilliant.
|
Yeah, sucks TJ got married though, he brought so much more energy to the table.
Pascal was no big loss though, he would sort of just spin around in circles, though the bass playing on Son, I Loved You At Your Darkest is better than the bass playing on Come Now, Sleep. |
Underoath's new cd is pretty good
Don't tell me you're one of those people who haven't heard "Cries of the Past" by Underoath.
who loves Blindside? i do. not so much their last album but all their other albums are great
Big fan of all their work. |
Cries Of The Past is good and all, but Define The Great Line actually has like... good songwriting, rather than a bunch of cool/cheesy riffs just jumbled together.
Every Underoath album owns, tbh. Even if there aren't any original members left. |
"Cries of the Past" destroys their new poppy Post-Hardcore/ Metalcore work in my opinion, but for the most part, I don't really find anything from them above average at all.
|
I used to be obsessed with Cries Of The Past, but then I realized how shitty the songwriting is. Dallas' vocals are badass though. And his lyrics are genius.
But seriously, songs like Alone In December and I'm Content With Losing own anything off of Cries Of The Past. |
am i the only one who thinks that christian rock/metal are not real genres
its just rock/metal |
We kind of went over this a few pages back.
It's not really a real genre, but Christians like making the distinction. It makes them feel special and also gives them an excuse to suck. Notice: The second sentence was subjective. |
Christian is more of a lyrical genre, tbh.
Christian is more of a lyrical genre, tbh.
exactly. its not the type of music, its just wat it actually says and the messages trying to get across |
But then why does it seem so much more watered down and boring compared to non-Christian music?
|
Because most mainstream Christian music is lame as hell, and stupid Christian kids will buy into any musician, regardless of ability, just because it has the tag Christian.
|
That is so very true.
|
I dunno though, it always seemed that Christian music was EXCEPTIONALLY lame. Even comparing bands on the radio, the Christian ones always are a lot more boring in my eyes.
|
I find nothing lame about bands like Aleithian.
|
the music thats on the christian radio stations are the lame ones. all of them sound the same and just suck. half of the bands are just a guy and an acoustic guitar playing the same thing over and over again while singing "i love jesus." we get it, stop preaching. but even though they suck people still listen to it just cuz theyre christian

I do. The name. Anyways, as far as Christian music goes, I think the reason why Christians music has its own radio station is so Christian families can listen to the radio knowing all the music on the station glorifies God. Just to clarify, when it comes to Christian radio stations, the heaviest stuff I hear on there is Kutless. I've never heard Underoath or As I Lay Dying on a Christian station. |

Usually they aren't preaching. Music of that sort is generally intended for an audience of people who are Christians already, and is a form of worship. Christian music can, for the most part, be sorted into three categories: 1 Up-front/Blatant Worship/Praise. Non-Christians find this stuff instantly boring, as they have absolutely no way to relate to it. And Christians are generally too used to this stuff. Really, unless they have been Christians for a long time and truthfully have come a long way, Christians usually benefit from music of the next category more (although worship and praise is necessary and good for them) 2 Music that is generally easier for Christians and non-Christians to identify with. "Down-to-earth", or at least not quite as eager or slap-happy/respectfully mournful. Usually less conservative lyrics, and more stuff that non-Christians can/will get a hold of. Still made by Christians for the glory of God, but not necessarily a form of worship. Quite often this is music that relates with different aspects of the Christian journey. 3 Music like number 2, but with loose but existant ties to Christianity, made by a Christian band, or a band composed primarily of Christians. I'm sure most (all) of the Christian music most of you guys actually enjoy would be number 2 or 3. Also, most Christians (speaking on even footing of maturity, age, etc.) aren't so shallow that they only get music because it is Christian. Christians, just as much as those who aren't, know or get to know what they like and buy that kind of music. It doesn't have to necessarily be Christian, although it being Christian is definitely a bonus. Most (provided they listen to music enough) learn to look at lyrics objectively and see the value of the meaning/feeling in any song (especially as it pertains to their beliefs, morals, etc.), just as non-Christians also learn to see the value in some Christian lyrics. Granted, some will still buy Christian music that is worse than a specific other choice that isn't Christian, but you could say that about any bias. If you think I'm speaking too much on behalf of Christians, know/remember that I'm a Christian myself (fuller/actual experience as opposed to most of your's view from the outside), and that we need to speak generally/from impression about a lot of these things, at least to some degree, because they are things we have to reason out theoretically. |
