Jody LeCompte 09-27-2006 10:51 PM

I just got home with my fretless.

Rollo47 09-27-2006 10:52 PM

What kind?

Jody LeCompte 09-27-2006 10:54 PM

A fender special

HELLonWHEELS 09-27-2006 10:57 PM

It doesn't exist without pics.

I'm just kidding, i hope you have fun with it

Jody LeCompte 09-27-2006 10:58 PM

I'm resizing pictures now :P I know the rules by now

Efrim 09-27-2006 11:18 PM

Hello.

Jody LeCompte 09-27-2006 11:19 PM

Yo.

mastrrbasser 09-27-2006 11:20 PM

sup

Jody LeCompte 09-27-2006 11:21 PM

Help! My fretless is molesting my fingers!

Efrim 09-27-2006 11:21 PM

stuff.

mastrrbasser 09-27-2006 11:23 PM

i just wrote an essay for my composition class and didn't read on the syllabus that it was supposed to be like 300-350 words. i wrote about 500 and just finished editing it down. hah.

Efrim 09-27-2006 11:24 PM

I just finished a speech supposed to last 3 minutes. I'm at 4-5. No way I'm cutting anything out though.

Jody LeCompte 09-27-2006 11:25 PM

I used to adore writing, but my creative writing classes killed it for me.

mastrrbasser 09-27-2006 11:25 PM

i see. my english teacher is a bit of a stickler to the rules though. he's very good teacher, but he's strict about some stuff.

Efrim 09-27-2006 11:26 PM

Mine let me do free form stream of consciousness essays. I had fun.

PaulSimonon 09-27-2006 11:28 PM

All of this guitar playing has made my bass playing a lot more fluid.

Jody LeCompte 09-27-2006 11:29 PM

My creative writing teacher was like "A good writer can squeeze nothing from something" and would give us topics like "Describe a day in the life of a pumpkin" **** like that just burnt me out

Efrim 09-27-2006 11:30 PM

The idea of assigning topics for a creative writing class is laughable.

ditto man. i've been taking my guitar to lessons instead. My basslines in my band are rediculously good right now (not inflating ego here). Instead of thinking about the bass, i'm thinking on how i would want to hear the bass if i was playing guitar. It's really been working out for me. It's deffinately made me a better bassist.

PaulSimonon 09-27-2006 11:34 PM

Bass is so much more comfortable now. It feels like home... *huggles Cort*

Jody, build it a ramp. I can't imagine playing fretless without a ramp now... it's glorious.

Efrim 09-27-2006 11:34 PM

I'll jump on that bandwagon too. I dropped out of the "interesting lines" mentality after playing guitar. I've never serviced the song more.

naw. if you are assigned to do certain things then you have to be creative within a certain boundarie. It's kind of like when you improv on jazz, you have to follow a set progression on the chart even though you're being creative.

i can't wait until my band records. i'm so proud of my basslines. they're not just basic root stuff, but it's really simple but powerful at hte same time.

we also have a song in 25/16 timing that's just about done. soooo weird.

A day in the life of a pumpkin is too claustrophobic to me. A day in the life of the vegetable of your choice would be great. I don't believe that poetry should be assigned at all.

mmmm, time signature. The only ones I like using are 5, 6 and 7/8 time, and 4/4.

mastrrbasser 09-27-2006 11:37 PM

yeah assigned poetry blows.

it's so weird. it's really 12.5/8, but it's easier with whole numbers. since it's a half number and it's a circular riff, it ends on the downbeat the first time around, and ends on the upbeat the second time around. you seriously can't tap your foot to it.

Efrim 09-27-2006 11:39 PM

well, I need to go to sleep. Gotta debate tomorrow. Bye guys.

mastrrbasser 09-27-2006 11:39 PM

see ya

Shouldn't it be 25/16 then?
