i hope not slipknot dont deserve to tour with the gods that are metallica.ive just got into metallica recently and i can see why there is a lot of hype around them
i have a question too does anyone know why jason newsted left the band?
Jason left Metallica because Metallica refused to let him make a solo album I think. They also pretty much made him the 'Fourth Member'. He was sorta... left out and such. He was pissed so he left. Hope Metallica doesn't repeat the same mistake to Rob Trujillo.

Toozey 12-08-2003 05:03 AM

James didn't let Jason release any of his stuff he recorded or any of his many collaborations. Jason just became detatched from the whole band and eventually left.

Jason is now planning to release all his projects through his label Chop House Recods.

Just look through his stuff and you'll realise how much stuff he did on the side of Metallica that never made the light of day.

I saw the unnamed feeling video and it was pretty good. The only thing I don't like about the video and the song is the part where James gets all emotional, it just isn't what Metallica does (it looks like Jonathon Davis....).
what are you on about.metallica songs are fuelled with emotion.listen to fade to black, one, nothing else matters, mama said to name a few.all emotionally driven and fantastic songs.you dont write or perform songs of that quality without emotion.

and john davis is only a prat.

dats actually funny cos it was the crowds own fault that they didnt play one.during system of a down the barriers collapsed and the crowd wouldnt let the stewards fix it so their was a huge delay and in the end their wasnt enough time for one.

dey did a supreme rendition of it though at da RDS dublin and thats all i care about. what a nite

Squirrel 12-08-2003 10:35 AM

I know - i saw them live at Leeds...

kirk_wylde 12-08-2003 01:20 PM

I hope they do some more Uk dates soon prefferably B'ham

DistortedVibrations 12-08-2003 01:20 PM

dont really have anything to say... but the thread is on the second page and it shouldn't be

kirk_wylde 12-08-2003 01:22 PM

ooo new page lucky me.
But seriously there might be some truth in the new album rumors. considering kirk suggested so in a recent interview with a german magizine? or radio. He also said it would be more like the black album.
Fingers crossed eh.

kirk_wylde 12-08-2003 01:23 PM

"bump"
come on get it back to first page

kirk_wylde 12-08-2003 01:24 PM

Oh yeah.. got it to the top of the first page again....well bellow the mods ne way

Fire 12-08-2003 01:34 PM

I dunno I used to respect Metallica but in the last few years theyve only proven to be a mediocre band

kirk_wylde 12-08-2003 01:40 PM

Nah I just think they failed with St. anger although St. anger is brilliant if you compare it with other Nu-metal, just not a good METALLICA album "preys they make a good comeback"

Although I must say I think (and don't hate me 4 this) And justice 4 all sucked. Except one which is brilliant

Squirrel 12-08-2003 03:00 PM

I really really want Metallica to get better but i just cant see it happening :(. Their live act is getting worse, their songs are getting worse and theyre getting invloved in computer games etc, i mean im not saying theyre selling out as such but they just seem to be digging this hole of being commercial that they said theyd never do..

LifeIsABowlOfCherries 12-08-2003 03:30 PM

hey okay well yea i just wanna say first of al that i am a sole believer in the music of metallica and well since this is the "official" metallica post i would like to knindly in as little pain as conceivable that METALLICA'S SAINT ANGER SUX BIG DONKEY BALLS!! all right well then no that that's done. Yea i think that metallica was super stressed when they made St. Anger. I mean look at how many cd's they have made. But i duno maybe they will hit a spring back. Well thanx 4 ur time

MetalHitman24 12-08-2003 03:36 PM

Favorite Metallica Song

mister_riz 12-08-2003 03:39 PM

Wow, these people dont like St Anger. Shit me are there more who feel this way??????

Never heard anyone slag off St Anger before....

Post in this forum if you have something useful to say because "Saaint Angger Sux Cock' isnt useful.

Squirrel 12-08-2003 04:21 PM

yes, they have played damage inc live. They played it live the latest japan tour actually.

jkusch82 12-08-2003 05:19 PM

Here are my favorites broken down on each album...(although I love just about every single song they've ever written)

Kill Em All - Seek N Destroy - What an epic opening riff.

Ride The Lightning - Fight Fire With Fire - Just because I believe the opening riff is the heaviest metal riff ever written. That is pure thrash!

Master of Puppets - Master of Puppets - Just god-like, everything about the song.

And Justice For All - Dyers Eve - The guitar work is just super human fast and tight...Not to mention Lars is a monster on the drums in it!

Metallica - God I dont know...Nothing Else Matters probably. I like all the heavy **** on the album, but to me this was the best crafted song on the entire album. james solo is perfect.

Load - Probably The Outlaw Torn

ReLoad- Unforgiven II

St. Anger - The Unnamed Feeling

StitchFace 12-08-2003 06:52 PM

Yes, St. Anger, although beautifully written lyric wise, wasn't as true as they could be to their fans who were expecting something like the "black" album or load or reload or whatever. I hope they keep the length and the similar lyric writing, just go back to having some wicked solos and some great guitar riffs.

I think most of us were expecting an album like Master Of Puppets after they said they had gone back to their roots and started writing thrashy songs again.

Did I hear someone say ....And Justice For All sucks? What is the matter with you, it has some of their best crafted songs on the album. Blackened, Harvester Of Sorrow, To Live Is To Die and Dyers Eve are classic examples. I don't hate you, I just think your opinion is a little warped.

i agree with the first part totally but...john davis aint a prat hes one of the best singers that are around,i love it how he puts so much emotion in his songs thats what makes me quite often listen to korn songs over and over again, but anyways metallica kick *** !

Brilliant if you compare it to other nu-metal? I beg to differ. Being a bassplayer I always pay attention to the basslines of the song I am listening too and I found the basslines in st. anger extremely weak. I understand that that bass in these songs didn't have much of a place to go, but the lines could have been a lot more interesting. Atleast in old metallica songs there are many basslines and it doesn't get boring to play.

Also listen to any metallica song on st. anger and then check out any song on Mudvayne's cd LD50. Now THOSE bass lines are brilliant. So to conclude, I am only comparing the bass lines and nothing more. When these 2 cd's are compared, it's clear which has better bass.
