That's the band list thread, this is technically the recommendations thread. He could use the band list to get lots of names to check out, but this thread is more personal.
this is the recomenation thread isnt it?
Yes.
hey, could you sugest some bands plz. Ive got alot of hardcore and ska but im looking for something different. Im not into bands like dead kennedys
Hardcore-punk (Minor Threat, Gorilla Biscuits, etc) or modern hardcore (Champion, Carry On, Terror, etc)?

And for ska, Madness and The Toasters. Best ska bands out there.
What are some folk-punk bands like Against Me!? I want bands that are actualy more punkish than folk. Alot of the bands I've seen mentioned are more folkish. I also want the music to have some energy or feeling to it. Quite a few bands I heard seemd kind of bland.
You know the obvious ones, This Bike is a Pipe Bomb and Defiance, Ohio I hope.

There is another band, on the tip of my tongue, who sounds a ****load like AM!

You could try The (Young) Pioneers, they were where AM! took a lot of inspiration, but they are kind of meh.

I don't know the obvious ones. :p I don't listen to very much punk that isn't hardcore related. So the bands I should check out are:

This Bike is a Pipe Bomb
Defiance, Ohio
The (Young) Pioneers

Right? Just making sure, because those are some pretty odd names.

EDIT: Btw, O Pioneers!!! is much better than I thought. They needed a little bit of time to grow on me. They can get boring after a little while though, whereas Against Me! I can listen to all day and never get tired.

Those bands, yes. Folk-punk has bands with really odd names.

So basically you're looking for hardcore bands that aren't ska?

That's like asking for a cheeseburger and asking them to hold off the the gummy worms.

No, he likes hardcore-punk and ska, but doesn't need any ska bands because he knows enough.

Flagjacket 02-18-2006 03:00 PM

Oh. Then that's like asking for a cheeseburger but telling them not to give you a milkshake because you already had enough.

But some hardcore bands are Jerry's Kids, Roach Motel, and Champion.

imnotapunk 02-18-2006 03:00 PM

no im asking for some bands that arnt hardcore or ska , but thats what im into

Flagjacket 02-18-2006 03:01 PM
no im asking for some bands that arnt hardcore or ska , but thats what im into
Bands that aren't hardcore or ska, eh? In that case, I'd have to recommend Bad Brains and The Specials. Sorry, that was a bad joke.

I recommend The Buzzcocks, Angel City Outcasts, and River City Rebels.

Flagjacket 02-18-2006 04:22 PM
