Hard Rock/Metal cymbal
Hi guys I'm looking for a cymbal that will sound low and powerfull, in order to have a hard rock / metal sound, in sabian please. I thought about those :
- AA Metal-X Crash - AA Rocktagon Crash - AAX plosion Crash Any idea or recomandations? thx |
^^^ if you want a low sound, then none of those are going to give you what you want. look into HH's. probably medium weight if you hit a bit hard.
|
I have a techer and he says that i have really good techniques, its jsut cuz i hit so **** hard. He says i'm like dave grohl...witch by the way is ****ing cool!
if your cracking, your technique is bad. there is no inbetween |
Hey, I'm looking for a 17-18" crash that will compliment my 16" El Sabor crash. I don't want to spend more than $150-$175 on it and want something a bit bigger sounding than my El Sabor. Oh yeah, I play various classic rock (Led Zeppelin, mainly).
|
Try Another El sabor crash, there is an 18" wich is also food for riding on, also try the AA Medium-thin/thin crashes
Hi guys I'm looking for a cymbal that will sound low and powerfull, in order to have a hard rock / metal sound, in sabian please. Hey ive been playing drums for 2 years, now, and im looking for a ride cymbal. My price range is between 100-200 dollars. Also, anyone knows a good cymbal pack that includes new hi-hat, crash, and ride. THanks
|
^^^Sabian AA Rides are about the only good cymbals you're gonna get in that price range.

If you say so! But anyway thats a load of bull! But thanks for the info, ill go and check out the ping |
^ Sorry you don't like the news man.
Although if you continue to disagee that your technique is bad and you don't thoroughly evaluate it - it's your loss. You will be the one paying for your cymbals, not us. |
is the sound check of the sabian website reliable or is not just the same as hearing the cymbal for yourself at a shop?
|
^ It's not great; it's not bad either. It'll give you a good idea of the overall character of the cymbal, though for sure they will sound different in person.
|
Yeh its given me an idea of what im looking for.
16" AA Medium Crash 17" AA Medium Crash 20" AA Rock Ride Can't decide on the Hats though. I was thinking 14" AA Rock Hats or 14" AA Regular Hats, just wondering would these choices be good for hard rock/metal? |
with those particular cymbals, the Regular hats are your best bet.
If you say so! But anyway thats a load of bull! But thanks for the info, ill go and check out the ping
allright. keep playing the way you are, and you'll be buying replacements often. |

Anyways I'm looking for 3 splashes, I was looking into max splashes but wanted to see if there was anything better, I'm looking for a splash load enough for rock, bright and cutting with fast decay... |
hmmm...a chalenge :)
anyways, the Max splashes are great cymbals. they cut, and are probably the fastest splashes i've ever come across....although, they are rather thin...so they might not hold up in a heavy situation.....maybe look into bigger AA Splashes (10" +)...maybe go 10,12 for AA splashes, and a 13" Extra-thin crash.... |

The real sound is much better than the sabian website mp3 (well at least for the models i own and listenened there). |
the sabian sound check is still usful, especially if you don't live near any shops and you wantto know what the cymbal sounds like.
if only you could combine DW's kit builder, Zildjian's cymbal set-up builder and sabian's sound check, that would be good. |
the only thing soundcheck is good for, is basic character. pitch, sustain, attack etc....the actual tone of the cymbal will always be different.
|

Hello. I'm a newer drummer, been playing for like a year and 3 months now, and I don't have a ride. All I have is a Sabian B8 Crash/Ride, which totally doesn't work for me as a crash and it gets really too loud for me to be a ride, but I do like it. Can someone suggest a good Ride, for a alternative rock and/or Ska? I realize the two are different but I play different types of music. I'm willing to spend up to 200 US Dollars, but I'd prefer it to be not quite that expensive. Also, a stand as well, that is heavy enough to support a ride that will not collapse, and possibly have the ability to get a tom clamped to it? Thanks.
|
i'd say an AA Medium-heavy Ride for you....bit of spread, but a little more definition....
as for this line:
but I'd prefer it to be not quite that expensive.
if your into the music, rides and hi-hats are definatly not the cymbals to cheap out on. you can get away with a low end crash or splash, but nothing sounds worse than low end time keepers. for a stand, any striaght stand will hold it fine. if your going to be using boom stands, anything should be fine, so long as the weight is placed over one leg. |
How bright is an AA Medium Thin crash? I can get a good deal on one, but I'm looking for something thats medium pitched, and not too bright.
|
Hey all, looking for a crash/crashes to compliment a 21' avedis zildjian sweet ride. I'd like my crashes to be more than 16' and not too heavy but i'm open to suggestions. Oh and hi-hats to go with them too? 14' is nice, don't like really like 13's. I usually play a 4 piece and i play a lot of classic rock and some pop/rock if that helps. Cheers guys, keep up the good work.
|
A Medium thins or A customs for crashes. Hats, look at A New Beats or K hats.
|
hey nzrocker, how do you like that avedis zildjian sweet ride, i've been thinkin' of buying one?
|
Hey,
I'm a beginner looking for a step up from the terrible cymbals that came with my starter kit, these things have completely dented from me playing them already after a few months and at one point I completely bent the hi-hat in and I had to bend it back out myself. I'm using Aria, a 14" hihat and a 16" crash which both sound terrible. Can you recommend me some decent new cymbals, I'm not in a band or anything so I don't need an incredible proffessional sound but good enough to keep me motivated you know? My price range is about £120 for the hats, £120 for the ride and £100 for the crash. I'm open to any make and any suggestions, I almost bought Titanium cymbals until I realised how bad they were, luckily. Any advice? Thanks. |
I started drumming about 6 months ago mainly for the purposes of recording... I bought a session pro starter drum kit which is all fairness is ok apart from the sort of crash/ride half arsed affair... When recording this symbol (using it as a ride) there was no definition and just created a continuous racket throughout...
My questions are - will a pearl 20" ride sound better/give the definition I am looking for? Is a second hand one in great condition good value for £26? Can anyone describe their sound? Thanks for your help... as you can tell i'm clueless... P.s sorry for this post being slightly out of place... for some reason it wont alow me to start a new thread... |
