so... how did you get into the Beatles? |
My friends got me into them. Strawberry Fields is what got me in to them. The have been my favorite overall band since then.
|
My parents got me into the Beatles, then I got my friends into them.
|
cool.. my first Beatles song I heard was "come together"... 4 or 5 years ago, I've been a fan ever since :thumb:
|
I first heard the Beatles when I was 5, the cover of Johnny B Goode. Been hooked ever since.
|
We used to sing Octopus's garden in 3rd grade
I can safely say that I pwn Ringo vocally. |
My parents have always been listening to the Beatles, so I guess that's where I got it from.
|
I found my dad's cassettes and one of them was Bad Company. I listened to it and in the song "Shooting Star," it says something like '...Johnny learned his first Beatles song, Love Me Do I think it was and from there it didnt take him long...' Then I was babysitting and I stumbled upon Beatles 1 (which I noticed had Love Me Do on it) and decided I needed to buy it. From then on I was hooked and continued to spend all my money on Beatles CDs. My dad helped me get even more into them because he was a huge Beatles fan back in the day. He told me that he almost got to go to a Beatles concert in 1964, but he and his siblings decided not to go because they didnt think they would be able to hear the music or anything.
|
I acutally respected the beatles a little about 3 years ago, and after i heard Beatles 1...i really didnt like them that much, the songs really didnt apeal to me except a couple, but after i heard Sgt Peppers Lonely Hearts club band, i loved them, and found a deeper respect for their music.
Our local radio station in Philadelphia (102.9), Has something called Breakfast with the Beatles every morning, about a half an hour on weekdays, and about 3 hours on Sunday morning (which is when i listen to it), but they play everything beatles related, songs, covers, unreleased material, and stuff i have no idea how they got their hands on, but its pretty cool. But no, my parents never influeneced me to listen to the beatles...i wonder why? |
oh BTW about psuedonyms, I think Neil Young occasionally shows up at small gigs under fake names like that just to freak people out or something... not that it has anything to do with the Beatles, just thought livewired might find it interesting
Actually I knew that.:) I read a biography on Neil that his dad wrote. Magical Mystery Tour > Revolver(for now anyways) |
Revolver > MMT ... the controversy!
|
I say, Revolver is more consistently good, because all the tracks are great. However, MMT has about 5 or 6 tracks that are just unbelievably good.
|
IN Calgary the radio station (the good one) has "the beatles brunch". Right around 11am or so it's an hour long show dedicated to beatles music, news and stuff. Very cool

How I got into the Beatles? This is the story of my life.
I was always kinda into them. We'd bring our Beatle cassettes with us on car trips starting around fifth grade (btw for relevance I'm a senior now), and these tapes were Sgt. Pepper's/MMT era. I was kinda into them, but not really. Also, before I was 6, Yellow Submarie was my favorite movie, but I saw our copy so many times I ruined it before I finished Kintergarten. In summer of 99, I got really depressed for multiple reasons. Then they re-released Yellow Submarine and stuff. Purely for nostalgic purposes, I bought the movie that week-end, and when I saw it the next day, and I listened to Nowhere Man, something in my mind clicked. Because I was exactly that....every lyric was talking about me! I fell in love with The Beatles ever since then. Oh, and MMT>Revolver, mostly because I've just had MMT for a couple of weeks, and not enough time to get over the "Yay, sweet new badass music" stage I hit, whereas I got Revolver two years ago. |
I've been waiting for someone to bring up my favorite band! I've got every beatles cd including several bootlegs and plenty LPs. My fav Beatles song (and i've got plenty) is I'm Only Sleeping, its such a great song. Lets also not forget to reflect on this sad day (Lennon was killed 24 years ago today). Listen to some lennon today and everyday.

It's either Stu Sutcliffe or Pete Best. |
"I'm only sleeping" is also one of my favorites.. dispite not being on a favorites list.. ever..
RIP John Lennon and my grandmother who died a few hours ago I "found" Abbey Road first, then got kinda bored with it until I found Sgt Pepper's and then I was H-O-O-K-E-D. (A Day InThe Life could end the world... its that good) I listened to it for an entire month until I found MMT and the rest is history BTW totally random, what does Deus Ex Machina mean, Ms. Threadstarter? |
Stu died before they came to america, But im gonna go with Tony sheridan
|

yeah I think Ringo got really sick very easily, so he needed to be replaced sometimes, but that was after pete and stu were gone |

Its basically divine intervention. REST IN PEACE JOHN LENNON! THE WORLD WILL ALWAYS LOVE YOU! |
