Oh, actually, in Finland if you choose civil work it lasts a lot longer than the military service, which can be over quite quickly if you work hard.

Thunder Fingers 01-29-2005 09:19 AM

a month more in norway... 12 months in military, 13 months in Civil Work... but hey.. there are alot of music organizations(??) that take in Civil Worker's so.. meh.. :p

Wintermute 01-29-2005 09:22 AM

Really? It's a much bigger difference in Finland.

I was really surprised to learn that they still had conscription. It's not the sort of thing we tend to think of as happening anymore. But then most of the Finns I talked to agreed that overall it was a good thing.

Left Shoe 01-29-2005 09:41 AM

good morning everyone , i get to perform my clarinet solo in front of old people today (being me i chose the hardest group of solos to choose from and i expect the highest rating) but io probably wont get it haha
I have a question.

Mark Hoppus... why does he not play the way he does on Carousel all the time?
The guitarist wrote the line, not Hoppus. It has nothing to do with the money, for whomever mentioned it :p.

Left Shoe 01-29-2005 09:43 AM

hoppus is incapable of playing that line , even today he says he still has trouble with it

Thunder Fingers 01-29-2005 09:51 AM

huh... an bass case or.... the entire catalogue of rush? :p

Spaceman Spiff 01-29-2005 09:54 AM

Geddy lee Jazz

Spaceman Spiff 01-29-2005 10:00 AM

So you have a choice to protect the bass that Geddy Lee plays, or just buy all his albums... hmm.
Well, you seem to be big a Rush fan as of late, go for the Rush catalogue then buy a case after when you've got the money. :thumb:

So are pancakes.

If they weren't, then I wouldn't have the Rush In Rio DVD.

rybass 01-29-2005 10:53 AM

I wouldn't either.

Rollo47 01-29-2005 11:03 AM

Hey All

How are we?

Spaceman Spiff 01-29-2005 11:07 AM

I'm good.

I should start studying for exams.
I didn't need to study for my English exam I had a few days ago, but I have 3 more that I do need to study for... I'll do it later.

Rollo47 01-29-2005 11:11 AM

I have a new song in the works, but I can't record it until I get a new computer. How incredibly annoying.

rybass 01-29-2005 11:12 AM

Atleast you can record.

Rollo47 01-29-2005 11:14 AM

Well no, I can't right now, that's the point :p

Why can't you record?

rybass 01-29-2005 11:15 AM

Well I meant that atleast you'll be able to.

I just have a crappy mac and I can't get any recording software.

Rollo47 01-29-2005 11:18 AM

Ah, I see. There's a fair bit of Mac recording software out there. Apple even has it's own recording software, GarageBand, if I remember correctly.

Wintermute 01-29-2005 11:21 AM

I believe Apple recently bought out Logic...

Apple versions exist for Reason and Logic, which are a fair step apart from Garageband. Windows versions do also exist. (I've got them, in fact)

Apple also gets ProTools, but it's VERY expensive, and cannot be pirated. It's just not possible. It is, however the last word in digital recording.

rybass 01-29-2005 11:23 AM

Yeah my dad has ProTools but I can't use it. Plus I have practically no memory on this computer. I have a demo version of ProTools that I could use but I would have to buy more memory and I really don't want to. I probably should though.

Wintermute 01-29-2005 11:28 AM

The problem with Pro-Tools is that it has its own hardware, which it needs to work properly. And until software pirates can find a way to share mixing desks over Limewire...

rybass 01-29-2005 11:33 AM

Yeah, you have to have some kind of card or something.
